It’s funny how some people go around bullying/ harassing Billy fans accusing them of “simping after the hot white bad boy” then proceed to turn a blind eye to all the 001/Henry stans in the fandom.

the character in question is, in their mind, only valid/worthy of redemption and happiness if they react to trauma in an way that’s deemed ‘appropriate’

Max literally said in season 2 that billys “always been a dick but now he’s just angry” which implies that before Hawkins/whatever incident led to Hawkins, billy was just like annoying at best. Which is a typical emotion one feels for their sibling. So clearly shit wasn’t always dire. But now everyone wants to act like billy came out the womb a devil child like get the fuck out of here

To the many peoole who think Billy is a irredemable characther and completly beyond redepmtion or deserved to die. Cool. Have your opinion but I would suggest that those people never go into the field of child protection or working with abuse victims. The thing about abuse victims, especially child victims is that anger and lashing out are very normal behavioural reactions. They model what they see, they use toughness to protect themselves or to convince the world they don't care. It self protection and survial.

This is a kid who gets beaten by his dad, got left by his mother and never understood why she didnt take him too, left to the hell she was trying to escape from. Got a new family thrushed upon him where it felt like this new sister got treated better than him for no reason and at the time of his death was still living in that horrible situation. He was still a kid when he died. Now does that excuse his actions and they way he treated Max or any or the rest of themm No it doesn't. Is Max entitled to how she feels about him? Sure. She has her own trauma. But was he evil? Nah, he was a scared, lonely kid who never got to explore the world outside his abusive life. Who obviosuly has enough good in him to sacrifice himself at the end, who seemed like he never truly wanted to hurt anyone judging by how upset he was.

In my opinion the way many see Billy is sympathetic of how we treat kids going through these situations. It is easy to feel sympathetic and wanting to help the kid who is showing the signs we expect of trauma, the ones we feel just removing them from the environment and showing love will magically fix. Its easier to look at season 1 Eleven who hid and didnt speak, (also valid reactions to trauma) but the truth of it is that the Billy's are far more the norm in these situations than we think and I have worked with many and not a single one was irrredemable or beyond growing for the better and there is not a single kid who deserved what happneed to them. Billy is no differnt. I really think he could have grown as a characther and had the potential to be able to make up for his actions and forge a relationship with Max.

Anger and lashing out is one of the signs of abuse we we are taught to look for. So if you are someone who is abuse victim and sometimes the only way you can deal with it is to lash out and get angry just know you are not bad or beyond help, and I am proud of you for surviving the best way you onow how and for wanting to change. You are dealing with your situation the best you can and you can grow. Your are more than a sum of your worst moments. I ❤️

I know I’m about to sound like a petty bitch here but I kind of can’t wait for someone’s fav to be killed off. I’ve had to listen to the majority of the ST fandom saying awful things about my favorite character saying he deserved to die in such a violent horrific way. Saying the abuse he endured didn’t matter at all. So like sucks to be you now. 🤷‍♀️

It's been a pleasure clowning with you guys the past 4 weeks. I have one more theory to post and then I'm done. It's nice to know that even if we don't see Billy again, there's a tag full of people to commiserate with. And that Billy will live on in mulleted splendor in fanfic and fanart. No matter what the antis or the Duffers say, we know the truth about Billy and about all of the folks like Billy who are doing their best to recover from childhoods full of abuse, rejection, and abandonment.

Keep your heads up, guys. I hope the Friday release gives you everything you're hoping for. But if it doesn't, the tag is here for you.

okay, so @meowmeowbilly​ ‘s post about the little belt/decor in billy’s door, now on max’s door, ignited my curiosity about what other things that once belonged to billy were still around max and susan’s trailer. here are the little things i found!

no cause considering that billy didn’t knew shit, the situation at the byers house is really weird. like, a legal adult lying about his underage (basically a kid, not a teen yet) sister not being here, when she’s in fact here with him and three boys is very sketchy. and steve doesn’t have a great reputation with girls, he’s a known womanizer. and it’s the 80’s. and karen probably not the first adult that was interested in billy, he knows how a person older than you can be. he can think only abt one thing and i don’t want to say it so. kinda understand him on this one. also if i’ll see my lil brother in a situation like that i’ll be pulling out a knife not a fist 🏃🏽‍♀️

Max attacking Billy with the baseball bat is not the badass move we’re meant to see it as in the narrative. Rather, it shows that she is caught in the same cycle of abuse as Billy. Billy overreacted, but he’s under threat of violence if he doesn’t bring Max home, and he finds her in an undeniably shady situation. He’s already down after Max injects him with the tranquilizer, but Max repeats the same tactics that we saw Neil use on Billy.

“Isn’t that right? ISN’T THAT RIGHT?” “Yes, sir.” “I’m sorry, I couldn’t hear you.” “Yes. Sir.”

“SAY YOU UNDERSTAND! Say it. SAY IT!!” “I understand.” “What?” “I understand.”

i know we sadly didn’t get a chance to see how billy and max’s relationship had evolved from s2 to s3, not even a single scene between them without billy being already flayed but i do think we get glimpses in s3 of how things had progressed between them. 

before learning that anything could be wrong with billy there’s a lightness in her speech when he’s mentioned, which didn’t occur during s2. this, for me, is the most significant change:

I genuinely want to know how someone can simultaneously be Anti Billy and a Max Stan when Max herself is President of the Billy fan-club.

it’s not that Steve is “the big brother that Max deserves”. it’s that Steve had the opportunity to be there for Max in ways that Billy could not be because he was either unaware of the dangers lurking in Hawkins, was under the control of an inter-dimensional being he had no way of understanding, or was…dead.

Steve stepped up to the plate because he had the knowledge and means to do so. Max relied on him because she knew that he understood her and that she could trust him.

there is no point in Max and Steve’s friendship where either of them seems to be trying to replace or fill in for Billy. rather, Steve is present for Max in her grief. you think he didn’t know exactly what she was doing when she told him to pull into the cemetery? who else would she be visiting? he knows that this girl has been through absolute hell, and as much as he complains about babysitting, you know he would (and has!) put his life on the line for any of those kids. in that moment, he would have done anything for Max. he knows he can’t fill Billy’s shoes. he know he can’t give Max what she really wants. he can’t bring her brother back. but he can do his damnedest to protect her, to shield her from any more hurt. he is there for Max because he can be, because he loves her. he will play big brother for as long as she needs him to, because her big brother can’t physically be there for her anymore. but he can’t replace Billy, and Max clearly doesn’t want him to. she wants her brother. Steve is simply there to support her as she mourns and adjusts to a world without Billy.
