The 'frog' incident is still VERY up in arms for me here, but this does provide some explanation that I think people don't generally look into. I do feel very bad for him, but that's what I think it should just be---explanation and not justification.
I am glad he's a bit less of a weirdo than his manga counterpart (if you know, you know), but it's still Jinshi and he still has quite a LOT to learn about relationships (at least from what I know).
Honestly i feel like Jinshi's behavior and him being pushy when it comes to Maomao suddenly makes sense when you realize he's been basically a victim of multiple sexual assaults/attempts at such throughout his life (can't find the exact part in the books rn but it's mentioned that people have been regularly trying to sneak into his chambers due to his nymph-like beauty, and then there's the fact that people have been straight up sending him underwear made from their HAIR??? Like the amount of people we'd consider stalkers that Jinshi attracts is insane) + then there's the fact that his entire life anything that belonged to him was immediately taken away from him. Like. This man needs therapy, i genuinely don't think he knows how romancing someone works and how to deal with wanting to "have" someone for himself, like obviously he probably knows the basics of it but the way he's trying to flirt with her was probably unfortunately influenced by how people always acted around him
And then he's also trying to rush the romance because he fears he'll lose Maomao or she will be taken away from him
And then the fact that she's basically making all these grossed out faces around him and is treating him like a normal person - he probably feels safe around her
He's such a poor lil meow meow
