While playing The Long Dark I have only encountered people as corpses, the thing is that all of them are male:

This could mean two things: either there are no women in Canada, or... Women caused the apocalypse in the game.

With further investigation I've confirmed the existence of women in Canada

Which means my second hypothesis may be true.

Headcanon proposed.
