Multi-Blue Granny Square Crochet Maxi-Skirt Update #1

Technically this is update #2, but the first post was very bare-bones.

So, to get you up-to-date:

I decided to make a granny square maxi skirt. I started with the light blue yarn as that was what I had. I bought the multi-coloured blue yarn next and planned to make a 2 coloured skirt.

I needed to do some math to see how many squares I needed to make. Here it is:

Granny squares- 4 inches Hip measurement- 36 inches Length of skirt- 32 inches

Divide the measurements by the length of granny squares: 36 ÷ 4 = 9 and 32 ÷ 4 = 8

Multiply the results: 8 X 9 = 72

So I have 72 granny squares to crochet. To get how many I need to crochet in each colour, I divide 72 by 2 which is 36.

This changed when my sister said I should add a next colour.

I stuck with my blue theme of course. This addition meant that the math had to change. So now I divided 72 by 3 and got 24 which seems much more manageable to me even though I still have to crochet 72 granny squares.

I'm pretty close to my goal! I believe I have 15 or 16 of each at the time of writing this post.

My hands get REALLY sore after a short while crocheting, so I only crochet 3 a day. It's slow going but I'd rather practice patience than bust up my hands.

I also recently got these cute stitch markers! I'm not working on any projects that need stitch markers at the moment, but they worked really well at holding my squares together so I could see how the skirt looked so far!
