A few months ago I started playing rdr2 and one night I sat bolt upright at 3 am thinking about Arthur Morgan, took 15 minutes to write this, and went back to sleep. Yes I’m pretty sure I was possessed
Anyway it’s a poem about a cowboy and his dead lover:

Since you drew breath, smelled the grass and the dust and the dirt

Hey!! Thank you so so much!! I wasn’t too sure about how I should do this, so I wrote it as headcanons (it’s almost a little story.) I hope you don’t mind!

A/N : I hope this is okay! I feel like it is too short but if you want me to remake it or make it longer (or a fic), just tell me!
At the beginning, Arthur might think you’re acting drunk just to annoy him.
But when he asks you basic questions and all you can do is stare at him and giggle like an idiot, he knows you’ve had too many drinks.
He tries to stay calm but on the inside he’s panicking. What should he do? Should he take you to your tent now and just put you to sleep or should he just let you have fun and keep an eye on you? Should he just leave you alone?
He decides to stay with you when you clumsily loop your arm around his and ask him to share a bottle with you
He’s really flustered, the way you look at him with those half-lidded eyes, that dreamy gaze…He’s blushing. A lot.
Even if you’re drunk, you might notice it. He’ll just deny it.
If you start singing, he’ll eventually join in. However, if you want to dance, panic is going to take over him. You will probably trip over his foot and fall though.
If you flirt with him, he’ll probably say it’s just the alcohol kicking in and will just tell you that you are, indeed, VERY drunk. But he’ll flirt back and tell you he loves you.
If you try to kiss him, it might turn into a makeout session if you’re in a relatively private area. Private depends on how many drinks the both of you have had. Unfortunately for everyone else, the campfire is considered a private place when you’ve had too many drinks.
Once you start yawning and stretching every minute, he’ll decide it’s time for you to go to sleep. He won’t even let you protest, because he’s just carrying you like a potato sack.
He’ll let you rest, but will stay close so he can give you medicine if your head hurts, or water if you’re thirsty.
The morning after, he might tease you about how ridiculous of a drunk you are.
« Still recovering from yesterday sweetheart? Guess you owe me a real dance now. »
And a Frankenstein's monster Arthur for Halloween. Thought that maybe Professor Marko Dragic found him after the ending of Arthur's story (if you haven't finished all missions with the Professor) and thought of "giving it back" to Arthur after his help.

I just said that Charles is one of Arthur's many best friends who stayed on his side until the end, and Arthur is one of Charles's small number of friends, to who he trust more than to the others. I never said and even think that their friendship is fake, or that this is an illusion, I'm just saying that Arthur is good and friendly with everyone from the gang(even out of the gang), so that's nothing special that he's finding another friend and help him to join the company and learn to be more communicative/sociable?
That may be special for Charles, who was alone the most part of his life, who don't know what to do in big communities where everyone are tightly knitted and obligated to be friends/be friendly to eachother, but I never said and never will say that "their friendship mean nothing" — No, never ever.
That's you the ones who are saying that "Arthur is Charles's ONLY friend, and Charles is Arthur's best friend while others are his family and siblings." There's nothing special in their friendship to make a lovers out of them.
How could you even come to that? You don't know how a friendship between introvert and ambivert works? Or you just don't want to accept the fact that Arthur is so tired with all this romance and don't need anyone at all, that you're shipping him with some of his random friends?

This man is a bumbling idiot, and I mean that will all the love in the world.
He keeps everyone at an arm's length and can be really awkward. His history with romance is not a happy one.
Arthur is sensitive and thoughtful, so he isn't super into casual sex anymore. He doesn't necessarily need to be in a relationship with the person, per say, but he's not going to lay with someone he doesn't see a future with. He knows it's not worth the risk.
He needs to trust you enough to be able to let his guard down around you. He doesn't feel comfortable or confident enough to have moments of "weakness" around just anyone.
When you do get him in your bed (cot? tent?), he's a lot softer than you'd expect. He's so gruff and grumpy all the time, but he becomes quiet when you're together like this.
He's honestly a little nervous about what you'll think about him. He's a horrible, ugly, rough man. Why would you want to have him? (give him a big kiss pls)
The first few times, he acted as if he was expecting to be looked down upon. Poor man.
Enough of the sad stuff. My character analysis sucks ass.
I honestly feel like he's pretty vanilla. He might have been a little bit more experimental when he was younger, but he just wants to love and be loved on now.
He prefers to move at a slower pace. He's not opposed to rough, but isn't really a fan of fast. Is very willing to let you guide the pace, but always prefers to give rather than receive.
He might get a little insecure if you start cracking jokes, even if they aren't at his expense. He'll get used to it, but tends to be a bit more sensitive when he's letting you take the lead.
Gets turned on when he sees you focused on something. Chopping vegetables? Reading? Sharpening knives? He wants you to focus on him like that :(
Massage his chest. Do it. Instant turn on. Alternatively, scratch gently at his chest hair. He melts!
Will grumble if you bite him. It's kind of hilarious.
Arthur has big, big hands. Wide palms, calloused fingers, blunt fingernails. He likes the way they look, contrasted with your skin.

Arthur Takes Off His Hat for Mary
When Arthur meets Mary for the first time in a while, he takes off his hat. I think it's very significant because he's still outdoors and doesn't need to do that. He could just tip his hat in greeting. From what I've seen of Southern hat etiquette, it's common to take off the hat only when you're inside a house. But he takes it off when in front of her. And when they're still outdoors.
Maybe I'm thinking too deeply into it but I think it really shows how much love and respect he has for Mary despite it all. This thought might be mismatched but I remember seeing a video about hat etiquette which explained this: your hat is a representation of your work and when you take it off in front of a woman, your work is not important in that moment, but she is (paraphrase).
Now I'm not American and neither do I have in-depth knowledge of Southern manners and etiquette so forgive me if this is wrong!!
