some new courses started recently and they seem really interesting but i’m just super stressed about the workload. some days are a lot more productive than others and it’s important to just accept that some days you won’t get that much done and it’s okay because rest is also productive. having things to look forward to is what keeps me going these days, even if those things are small, like tv shows or books. i’m excited about the shadow and bone tv show coming in a month and also there’s a new falcon and the winter soldier episode every week so to me that’s something that keeps me going lmao.

To that end, I just want it known now, well before the day, that this blog will NOT be posting any jump scares, fake announcements, freak-out posts, fake hackings, fake emergencies, fake news, and “gotcha!” stuff on April Fools Day. Zoomester Studyblr Challenge
Hi! I’m not a big creator on here but I always see Studyblr Challenges and I try my best to always take part (even tho i fail halfway) but this is my last semester at uni and I wanted to do a little something something.

This challenge is starting on March 1st and contains 31 prompts (one per day of the month) but feel free to take part at any given time!
I initially aimed this challenge for all my struggling last semester/grad school/ thesis writing people BUT honestly, whatever your grade, this zoomester is crazy as it is.
If you do the challenge, use the tag #zoomester studyblr challenge so that it is easier for me to track posts and that way other people can also track and reblog!

This is lowkey my way of getting to know some more of you beautiful hardworking people.
Times are still hard so perhaps participating and getting to know people from the tags can be comforting for some people.

4: For my researching fellows, what are you researching on? If you’re not currently researching, what is the topic within your field that you’re most passionate about?
While I’m not actively researching this, I am passionate about Afrofuturism, more specifically black science fiction, and how it can be used to understand our past and reimagine a future for the black diaspora. Black women and black enby writers have always been so ahead of the game when it comes to this.
Also, I’m really into music of the black diaspora. Its forms, its histories, the dances created from it and vice versa, the music that has been birthed from movements.

11.10.20 / i spent the morning flipping through a japanese translation of the hobbit because i had a dream about the person who gifted it to me a long time ago. that set the ruminative mood of the day. right now i’m trying to consolidate research i’ve done throughout the week for my historical fiction wip. overall, my weekend has been peaceful. how’s your sunday going? hope you’re well ♡

I start writing my dissertation officially tomorrow. However, currently I’m spending this evening writing up a dissertation micro-structure (consisting of bullet pointing every single thing I want to say on separate word documents designated to each section). I have also just sent off a couple emails about my abstract and also about having a consultation booked. I’m both excited and nervous. I’m also not sure if I have explicitly advertised my dissertation topic on here yet? isn’t it funny how time seems to stretch and shrink constantly? now that march is here it feels like last march, pre-lockdown, has been both forever and just yesterday. are you feeling it too?
in the meantime, I’m taking deep breaths, prepping for a data science midterm, and enjoying the linguistics unit in my cognitive science class.

it made me extremely happy that the exam was over. on my evening walk, i was skipping and humming and dancing to the music over my earphones. i must’ve looked weird but i didn’t care at all. it’s been a while since i felt so alive, excited, and energized even though i was sleep-deprived 🌻 🌻 🌻
