every-time i rewatch the hannibal pilot im reminded of how much of an asshole will graham is and how it’s so funny that hannibal eat-the-rude lector did not immediately soufflé his ass. instead he developed a crush and had no choice but to wage psychological warfare on him.

Dutch is a very expressive character; it's very easy to tell whenever he's angry, upset, or using his silver tongue, just by his facial expressions and his tone.

This makes replaying the game a lot more interesting; even though he starts unravelling towards the end of the game, you can tell his distrust in Hosea and Arthur began before the game starts:

The easiest example for this is in "Who The Hell Is Leviticus Cornwall". Dutch starts by pleading to Hosea, telling him the gang needs money, but when Hosea stands his ground, Dutch's expression turns dark, and his eyes are covered by his hat, which from a cinematic stand point is used to symbolise something sinister; he already had some doubts eating away at him, and I believe Hosea saw it and chose to back down.

While we also see this in a few more instances later in the game; Dutch tells Arthur and Hosea to ride together so they reminisce about the "old Dutch", He tells Arthur in Horseshoe Overlook that Arthur looks like the type to betray him, and he constantly begs for the gang's faith in the earlier chapters, even if it's not as obvious as the latest chapters, I think it's an interesting choice from rockstar to show Dutch's distrust in his people in the very first quest with him after the tutorial.

I wonder if the reason Arthur's tent is almost always next to Dutch is because Dutch sees him as him most useful tool.

The only chapter where Arthur's tent is further away is chapter 6, where Dutch's right-hand man becomes Micah.

Albert Mason, in a way, mirrors what Arthur could have been if he wasn't outlaw. While they both share a love for nature, they represent different sides of it; Arthur embodies the rough, dangerous, and wild side, while Albert symbolizes the innocence and delicacy of nature. They both find beauty in the world, but in contrasting ways; Albert gets to experience nature purely for his enjoyment, but Arthur is in a way, like an animal, in a constant fight to survive.

Some things I think about a lot:

Bill saying if Arthur’s hair grows any longer he'll have to put a dress on him

Bill being tied up in that way when Arthur saves him from bounty hunters

Lenny getting praised by Bill

Karen saying Arthur is more kissable without the beard

One of the girls (I THINK IT'S SADIE) suggesting Arthur wear pig tails when his hair is long

Micah making himself crack up calling Arthur Santa Claus

Javier sitting there while Bill gushes about how scary he was that one time

All of Hosea and Dutch's camp interactions

Abigail telling Molly that she understands ("Unfortunately, I do")

John rejecting Jack wanting to play, and in chp 6 actively playing with him

The only reason I can get behind RDR3 being about the early days of the gang is because I would kill to see what type of menace young Arthur and Hosea were

So I recently bought the RDR2 Original Score Soundtrack, and something that really stood out to me is the art inside of it;

The art for the original soundtrack and the original score are telling an interesting story: the original soundtrack shows us Arthur on the cover itself, and in the inside of the vinyl, are the gang in their prime riding together - all of the iconic imagery we're used to see during the game.

However, the art of the original score is almost exclusively Micah related: the cover is a clear contrast to the original soundtrack (black and white vs. colour, villain vs. hero), but what I personally find most interesting is the art inside of the vinyl:

From what I've seen, the internet seems to be in disagreement over who Micah might be shooting; while it makes sense it is Arthur given the story of the game, seeing him in a pitiful position feels out of character.

To me, this art looks like Arthur's portrayal from Micah's eyes; there are 6 graves, possibly to represent past gang members who died during the game? (aka Sean, Kieran Lenny, Hosea, Molly, and Grimshaw).

Micah was not responsible for all of them, but it was his mission to try and get cut as many gang members as he could "loose."

There's also 7th grave being dug (represented by the shovel), presumably prepared for Arthur, given their relationship and his ending.

After Guarma Micah sees Arthur as weak, he stops being scared of him and replaces him as Dutch's right-hand man, which is the reason why Arthur seems so weak in this art compared to Micah, he is reduced to a pitiful sick man who has to beg for mercy, nothing more than another link to cut loose so Micah can advance.

I think in the end red dead is about love.

Arthur's love for Dutch kept him blieving a bit too long, his love for the camp kept him working despite being tired, his love for John and Abigail helped them escape and give his life in return.

John's love for his son and wife that made him flip his life around not just once but twice, his love for Arthur whom he priorly struggled with, his love for his family that made him kill old friends for their safety.

Abigail's love for John that made her believe he could change, her love for him and her son causing her to leave for both their safeties.

Hosea's love for Abigail making him prepare her for the worst already in chapter two, his love for Arthur trying to make him see Dutch's fault before it was too late, and his love for Dutch making him try to keep him from running off the rails.

All those small moments of love, I think that is what it is about

most underrated hosea quote is “i enjoy picking on children” in reference to arthur because that’s his kiddo!!! that’s his child!!! no matter how big and old and scary looking arthur gets he’ll always be hosea’s kid!!!
