Currently reading^, it's a romance and since it Valentine's Day, I thought it apt to make a fanart of it.
That ol’ chart of mine makes the rounds online periodically and it drives me crazy because it’s frankly not very good. So, I finally got around to remaking it.
I doubt this will get anywhere near as popular, but I wanted to make it.
Good reference for animation, comics, and for visualizing phonetics!
a moment in Sacrifice!Damen's journey

Tom Marvolo Riddle is a very complex character.
We are talking about a child, a child grew up in the midset of WWII in an orphanage who's matron was an alcoholic woman. He also came from a long line of incestuous relationships and was a result of Amortentia/Imperius Curse. It is implied that they called doctors and priests before to "treat him" or "exorcise him"
I find it weird that Dumbledore, a man who grew up with a child with magical problems and a flawless mentor to so many people cannot recognize signs of abuse here. Instead of trying to help the kid or making him open up, he silently judges him because he is coming from Slytherin heritage and proceeds to burn his wardrobe to traumatize him even more.
This is not you handle a kid who shows bad behavior and I am sure Dumbledore, who is in his 50s in this scene knows it even better than me. This will only make the kid resent you and be cautioned against you. Dumbledore asks Tom to open up towards him about the Chamber of Secrets and this is precise reason why a fifteen year old avoided Dumbledore to not get in even more trouble.
I believe no children should be treated as their existence is a fault at first, while we look through Tom we need to remember this is not a serial-killer man with genocidal ideas but rather a teenager with mental illness. In my opinion he has either narcissistic personality disorder or antisocial personality disorder, he has no qualms about using someone to get what he wants because he is raised in that way. There wasn't a comfort area he could take refuge in so he simply created one, he has a weak self-esteem if he makes a 14 year old boy, who doesn't possess even quarter of his power bow before him
Well, I think his character could be handled so much better if it weren't for Rowling's one dimensional look on villains. We could see his psychology and the sufferings he endured as an orphan during WWII and the bullying of his peers because he didn't have any respectable surname as well. This is why I am a little too obsessed with TMR fanfictions and his descend into madness, he has potential.
overcoming art block with Sacrifice!Damen.
People joke about Dazai and Chuuya being romantically experienced or whatever, but I think it's the opposite. Chuuya doesn't know what that stuff is because Mori thinks it's funny
Demon Laurent is confused about the unkempt sacrifice.
1. You are responsible for your own media experience.
2. There is such a thing as a healthy level of avoidance towards topics that make you feel unwell or even (in a real-life clinical definition of the term) trigger you - but you are the one to actively take care of what you view.
3. Avoiding does not mean policing others.
4. You have no right to tell artists to censor themselves - you may criticize what others do, you may dislike it, that’s fine - but actively asking for censorship when you could easily unfollow or block a person just makes you look incompetent in your use of the internet.
5. Do not give people on tumblr or /any/ website the responsibility for your emotional well-being. Because these people do not even know you so no, you have no right to ask them to take care of you.
"you have a responsibility to consider how your writing would affect other people" literally 50% of writing is manipulating the audience by setting tone and mood and drawing them in to fuck with their emotions. writers do NOTHING but consider how our writing is affecting other people and this is implying that our moral imperative is to make them feel warm and fuzzy which it is not
furnace and chimney duo.
Also, just squish your face on that pectoral hon.
Day 3(?) & 4.
If I ever got around to writing the script, I might post the story behind this, but I'm a lazy bum so that might be in the far future. lol
This short essay explores Erasmus and Damen's parallel paths into slavery.
Initial Attraction
From the start, both Erasmus and Damen are captivated by the physical beauty of their respective betrayers, Kallias and Jokaste. This initial emphasis on appearances sets the stage for their subsequent betrayals, highlighting how they were initially drawn in by their allure, only to be deceived by those they held in high regard.
Sudden Disorientation and Self-Recrimination
Their sudden and unexpected enslavement leaves Erasmus and Damen feeling disoriented. Erasmus turns to Kallias for guidance but quickly recalls Kallias's betrayal, making him feel foolish for wanting to ask Kallias what was happening. Similarly, Damen, usually a clear thinker, struggles to make sense of his bewildering new reality. He, too, blames himself for not seeing the betrayal coming, realizing his own naivety in the process.
Struggle for Understanding and Loss of Identity
Erasmus and Damen both struggle to understand the betrayals, even when presented with evidence. Their initial innocence and naivety make it challenging for them to discern the true intentions of their trusted companions. This struggle not only highlights their vulnerability to deception but also the profound loss of agency and erasure of their former identities accompanying their transition into slavery.
Strong Emotional Responses to Change
Their abrupt changes in surroundings evoke powerful emotional responses, underscoring their powerlessness. Erasmus shakes with fear upon entering an unknown part of the palace, while Damen's struggle intensifies as he realizes his fate.
Profound Emotional Impact
The betrayals suffered at the hands of Kallias and Jokaste deeply affect Erasmus and Damen. Erasmus grapples with a sense of loss at the hands of someone he loved, and Damen is shocked and anguished by Jokaste's betrayal. The distress in their voices only highlight the depth of their connections and the trauma of their betrayals.
Induction into Slavery
The ritualistic aspects of their induction into slavery, such as collars and paint for Damen, and the absence of traditional ceremonies for Erasmus, showcase the drastic shift in their identities and further emphasize their disempowerment.
Protective Facades
Kallias's choice to wear a plain gold pin aligns him with Kastor and hides his true motives to protect Erasmus from Kastor's wrath.
Similarly, Jokaste's response, 'Nothing, but choose between brothers,' downplays the choice between Damen and Kastor. Her cold demeanor shields her true affections and the sacrifice she made by choosing Kastor for Damen's safety.
Longing for Connection
Damen and Erasmus long for understanding and connection from Jokaste and Kallias, but recieve emotional detachment or cruelty due to societal norms and power dynamics. This is because Jokaste and Kallias must maintain the appearance of allegiance to Kastor while secretly working to save Damen and Erasmus' lives, preventing them from openly expressing their true feelings.
Hidden Affection
In moments of vulnerability, Kallias wishes Erasmus could be his first, while Jokaste's letter to Damen hints at lingering feelings and missed opportunities for intimacy. These instances reveal that Kallias and Jokaste concealed their love from Erasmus and Damen, adopting a cold facade to protect them from Kastor's reign of terror. While Erasmus remains unaware throughout the series, Damen later discovers Jokaste's enduring affection, and ultimately lets her go in recognition of her sacrifices to save his life.
In conclusion, the parallel experiences of Erasmus and Damen during their inductions into slavery reveal not only the harrowing challenges they face but also deepen our understanding of Kallias and Jokaste's complex characters and the sacrifices they make to protect their loved ones.
coloring is hard. I just want to yeet it away!

Finally done 。゚(TヮT) I did 16 pages of these while guessing the characters' proportions, I'm so stupid for not making character sheets. Everything would be nth times easier if I did.
Oh well, they turned out great anyway.

"You often said how excessively lavish everything is in Vere," Laurent says, "yet I find Akielon men to be similarly excessive."
Damen peers at him from his position on the bed, on his front as he cradles his head with his arms. "How so?"
Laurent picks his nails as he hums, "the statues."
Damen directs an amused gaze at Laurent's prone form by the window's ledge. Expect Laurent to nitpick everything.
Shaking his head fondly, he explains. "Multiple have been commissioned to depict Akielon men in their glory."
Laurent snorts, as sophisticated as one can be when doing something unappealing. "How predictably vain."
An amused breath passes Damen's lips before shifting himself on bed. Now, he lays on his back, gazing up at the ceiling.
Teasing, he says, "I prefer Kings' monuments showing them in their glory rather than those sly ouevres mostly hidden in unfrequented annexes."
Laurent rolls his eyes. "Of course you do. But not every art is made to have the public's eyes set on them. They contain messages that aren't easily expressed in words, so they show it instead."
Damen hums contemplatively. "No, the public aren't always the audience" he agrees, "But they're still made to be appreciated by someone nonetheless."
"Then what of the others?" Laurent asks. Damen twists his head to face Laurent, but his lover is looking out the window.
"What others?"
"The pieces that show unusual subjects unlike your glorified Kings." Damen pauses but, unnoticed, Laurent continues. "I saw you looking at one, a statue of a woman crying on her knees, in the gardens earlier. What of pieces like her?"
Licking his lips, Damen answers. "A message, as you've said. She's mourning for her husband before she was turned into a fountain by a God who heard her sorrow."
Laurent's brows rose at this. "How miserable."
Damen nods. "It is. It was commissioned to warn men of a wife's pain if they become careless with their own life."
Laurent nods in understanding, of what, Damen does not know. "And did it?"
He nods. "Some have had practiced caution since."
Laurent diverts his gaze to him, his eyes gleaming a beautiful blue from the moon's light., like water under night's glow.
"But you don't perceive it as a paragon of a mourning wife," Laurent says with a steady and firm gaze.
Damen smiles, shaking his head. "No, not really."
Exhaling, he closes his eyes. "When I looked at her weeping face. I imagined her mourning of another's death rather than her husband's," he quietly admits, "I thought of the life she could've lived and desired it to be her reason for crying. I appreciated her tears."
Laurent pushes himself away from the window and walk towards Damen, who doesn't move when he felt Laurent's shadow covering him, nor when a firm hand pressed on his chest.
Laurent drapes himself over Damen's chest, rising and falling under him.
"What's her name?"
Damen's chest expands with his inhale before he releases it, loud in the quiet of the night. "Egeria."
NOTES: excuse this since everything is rushed. But I just had to contribute something because Damen is lovely, duh.
I should just post all of the pages in one, but I mostly use this acc. to archive my works anyways. Best to make sure that no fanwork becomes a corrupt file (⭑•͈ 𓎟 •͈ )
Also, enjoy.

I was so hyped by this fanfic to draw about Laurent courting Damen but didn't want to assume what would happen between them. That's why I focused on how would Auguste, who probably has abandonment issues, react to it.
I probably won't post the following pages since I'm lazy :P hope you enjoy tho.

I’ve seen other people talk about it, but I wanted to do it too. :-\
I wanted to do every name, but there were too many. Please inform me if any information is inaccurate.
Damianos (Damen) - Both names are derived from the Greek damazo, meaning “to tame”. The alternate spelling of Daimen also has the meaning of “gentle”.
Nikandros - Means “victory of a man”. Derived from the Greek nike and andros, meaning “victory” and “of a man” respectively. Nike was also the Greek goddess of victory.
Makedon - Makedon, also spelled Macedon or Makednos, was the ancestor of the ancient Macedonians and said to be a son of Zeus. Derived from the Greek makednos meaning “tall, slim”.
Pallas - Means both “to brandish” and “maiden”. Pallas is one of the epithets of the goddess Athena, supposedly given to her after she slayed a giant of the same name.
Kastor - Means “to excel” or “to shine”. The mythological Castor was a son of a Spartan king and the twin half-brother of Pollux, the son of Zeus.
Jokaste - Derived from the Greek Iokaste, which is of unknown meaning. In Greek mythology, Jocasta was the wife and mother of King Oedipus.
Erasmus - Derived from the Greek erasmios, meaning “beloved”.
Isander - Derived from the Greek isos, meaning “equal”, and andros, meaning “of a man”.
Theomedes - Possibly created by Pacat. Derived from the Greek theos, meaning “god”, and medomai, meaning “to think, to plan”.
Egeria - Derived from either the Greek aigeiros, meaning “black poplar”, a type of tree, or the Latin egerere, meaning “to bring out”. In Roman mythology, Egeria was a famous nymph who pregnant women offered sacrifices to in order to “bring out the baby”.
Hypermenestra - Comes from the mythological figure of Hypermnestra, one of the fifty danaides, the daughters of King Danaus. She was the only danaid not to kill her husband, as he had wished her to remain a virgin.
Adrastus - Traditionally translated as “inescapable”. Also spelled as “Adrestus”.
Lykaios - Comes from the Greek Lykaia, a festival held on the slopes of Mt. Lykaion (“Wolf Mountain”) in Greece. Zeus uses the epithet Lykaios, meaning “wolf-Zeus”.
Euandros - Derived from the Greek eu, meaning “good”, and andros, meaning “of a man”.
Eradne - Possibly created by Pacat. A similar name, Ariadne, belonged to a Cretan princess in Greek mythology who was abandoned by the hero Theseus and wived by the god Dionysus. Derived from the Greek ari, meaning “most”, and adnos, meaning “holy”.
Agar - Greek version of the Hebrew name “Hagar”. Possibly means “flight”.
Kydippe - Variation of “Cydippe”. Earliest source and meaning of the name are unknown.
Treus - Derived from the Greek treo, meaning “to fear, to dread, to flee from fear”.
Thestos - Possibly created by Pacat. Similar to “Thestius”, which is derived from the Greek theos, meaning “god” and esthein, meaning “to eat”.
Timon - Derived from the Greek timao, meaning “to honor, to esteem”.
Nekton - Derived from the Greek nekhein, meaning “to swim”.
Arsaces - Hellenized form of the Old Persian “Arshaka”. Possibly a diminutive of arsha, meaning “bear”, or arshen, meaning “male”.
Nisos - Variant of Nisus. Meaning unknown.
Inachtos - Comes from Inachos, the first king of Argos. Cannot locate definition.
I just remembered that King Aleron died AFTER Auguste was killed. Does that mean that if Auguste lived so will the King?
But the Regent would still want both the King and heir to die. So Aleron might still die in battlefield since the war wasn't going to just be finished with that specific battle where both were destined to die.
Oh wait, when Auguste died, King Aleron was shocked to witness his firstborn die, hence the ensuing sequences of the Regent successfully killing Aleron and stuff. But what if he got himself together last minute? Like defense just shooted up before the arrow hits him? I don't even know.
Let's just say that Aleron would live and that would then lead to two possibilities: the war would prolong and Vere would be more vicious since their heir died (this will give the Regent more chances to kill Aleron and have more leeway to Laurent since Aleron, would surely want his only son, at that point, safe. Or not? surely Aleron knows about his brother's sick tendencies. I'll ponder over that later.) Or, Aleron wouldn't be prideful about it and be ruled over by his fear of loss (dude just lost his firstborn and I assumed lost his wife prior) and just thought that an alliance would be more beneficial at that point (Vere lost way too much). He'll focus on Laurent then, train him to be like Auguste which will frustrate everyone, Laurent, Aleron, and the Regent (the former two bcz Laurent is not Auguste, and the latter bcz he's running out of time to get Laurent). Though, I think the former is more likely to happen since the Regent is Aleron's advisor right? The bastard would definitely make Aleron choose war.
Srsly, damn this story for always choosing war. Everything wouldn't happen if it weren't for war and another war. Even the canon ship wouldn't be possible! Like peace was never an option.
I'm just sad about it atp.
What I feel the CaPri fandom sometimes fails to understand is that Damen only looks stupid compared to Laurent and Laurent only looks weak compared to Damen.
Damen is one of the few people who pick up on Laurent's schemes - sure, he picks up on things more slowly than Laurent, who has an insider's view of the situation and is actually the person in control of his schemes (in addition to his godlike intelligence), but Damen sees through what Laurent is doing more quickly than anyone else, even people who have known Laurent for years, and manages to keep up with his logic most of the time when no one else does. In book 1 he always manages to read a situation pretty accurately based on the knowledge he has - he can see what Laurent's options are and where the political lines are drawn, he just doesn't know how to mess with them as creatively as Laurent does.
Similarly, Laurent is one of the most competent fighters in the setting and only looks weak compared to Damen, the God of Warfare, who is like 2 meters tall and 2 meters wide. He's not some helpless uwu smol bean, he can hold his own, gives Damen a damn good fight even though he's been recently injured and fucks up several other people described as very strong fighters during the course of the series.
‘I suppose you are going to enjoy telling me why,’ said Damen. He felt his hands curl into fists, heard the bitterness in his throat.

When you overestimate your abilities:
But then remembered art is your passion:
Okay, thought: In AUs where Auguste lives, how would Laurent, who's courting Damen, interact with Jokaste, who's Damen's lover? Like most of the fanfics have Jokaste going out w/ Kastor immediately or just not bother with them dating at all! Which begs the question of how would Laurent react.
Laurent might try to stop his feelings because he respects and wants Damen to be happy at first, but I think if he sees some similarities between her and himself, he might be irked that why can't it be him?? Hmm, then once he realizes that Jokaste wants a king she can manipulate easily, he might fight against Jokaste and Kastor.
I'm still unsure though. Like I imagine Laurent trying to make Damen jealous, like in the books, but it won't work if he thinks Damen sees him as a younger brother?
