So, I seem to recall someone was saying they wanted to do some King Arthur fantasy, but were having problems finding all the sources they wanted. Here’s a new vid I ran across, that suggests we shouldn’t just look at Western Europe when we’re trying to piece together Arthur’s ‘verse.
Was an Arthurian Knight Inspired by a Hungarian King? Medieval DOCUMENTARY
From one of the video’s comments, about Lazlo: “He was not a hard man to find on a battle field. According to chronicles he was two heads taller than the average man and had a two-handed axe as his favored weapon of choice.”
...Yeah, that kind of guy would stand out.
So. If the theory in the vid is accurate, the Lancelot tales of the saga are royally commissioned RPF insert fics. Who says you’ll get nowhere writing fanfic, hmm?
I also find it so, so relatable that Chretien finally said, “Nope, I’m out; someone else can pick up this abandoned work,” after he was commissioned for the canon-breaking cheating relationship. There are some things no sane writer can do.
And in case you haven’t run across them, Red at Overly Sarcastic Productions also has some good stuff on King Arthur and his loyal knights!
Legends Summarized: King Arthur
Legends Summarized: Arthur's Knights
I’d never heard of Feirefiz in particular before, and his bit in the story is Really Cool.
And for general use,
How to Do Research As for books to recommend... I remember reading a collection of King Arthur stories as a kid, but I don’t remember the title! You might look into Roman and post-Roman British history if you want sources for what we think the historical origin of the legendary king must have been. Osprey Publishing books are generally very well researched, I think they've got at least two you can check out!
hello! I love your blog. you helped me so much with writing. if you don't mind can you do writing notes on character study. I wanted for so long to do it but I'm lost. thanks for everything
Character Study - a deep dive into a character’s traits, personality, and development in literature, TV, and film.
GUIDE #1. The model below provides a guide for the analysis of the characters in order to identify the personality of each of them, their attitude and the network of relationships holding together the drama/story. The analysis will focus on:
the character’s physical appearance (description of body and face, clothes and accessories);
story of his/her life (identification of all biographical elements that define the character’s story and situate him or her in relation with the others);
point of view (interpretation of the character’s perspective in relation to the overall vision of world as proposed by the author);
personality (description of the character’s behavior defining his/her personality on stage as it relates to others: tone of the voice, gestures, movements, distance or proximity to other characters);
description of the mask (different ways in which each character places himself/herself in relation to others);
definition of the mask’s motivation and choice through which the character will achieve his/her goals.
GUIDE #2. Identify each character on the 4 basic levels of characterization from information you find in the text. The following is a list of suggestions for each category. This is by no means an all-inclusive list, but meant to be used as a guideline:
A. Physical/Biological. gender, age, size, coloration and general appearance
Age – be as specific as possible
Gender/Sex – not only male/female, but virile, macho, feminine, etc.
Health – from excellent to sickly, including how one’s health may or may not effect his/her appearance.
Particular physical characteristics that makes the character distinctive – big nose, hunchback, large breasts, etc.
Ethnic origin – race, coloring of skin and hair
Physical Stature/Figure – perfect, average, tall/short, thin/fat, malformed, hunched, slouchy, willowy, etc.
Physical Activity - dynamic, active, sedentary, listless, etc.
Face – handsome, good looks, common, homely, etc.
B. Social. economic status, profession or trade, religion, family relationships
Class Situation – aristocracy, upper, upper middle, middle, lower middle, lower, beggar etc.
Economic Situation – rich, independent, salaried, day labor, dependent (just because someone is a member of the aristocracy, doesn’t mean they have money)
Social Situation/Social Role - how is the character related to the other characters in the play? Family? Friends? Co-workers? The boss? The King? Etc. Is there a specific social event taking place, such as a wedding, where in the character has to take on a particular social role, such as father-of-the-bride?
Relationship to the World around him/her – How does the character fit into his/her social situation? Is the character popular? Does he/she have friends? Is he/she a loner? Etc. How does the character interact with the other characters - is the character: a leader, a helper, a follower, submissive, a slave?
Occupation – list the character’s specific job or trade
Group Affiliation – Does the character belong to or identify with a specific group or team? (example – a minority group, a club, a sports team, a political group, etc)
Is there a specific social event taking place, such as a protest rally, where in the character identifies with a particular group, such as feminists?
Political affiliation – Republican, Democrat, etc.
Religious affiliation – Christian, Jewish, Muslim, etc.
C. Psychological/Emotional Reveals habitual responses, desires, motivations, like and dislikes – the inner workings of the mind. Reveals how the characters think (psychological) and what they feel (emotional). This is considered the most essential level of characterization. Keep in mind that a person’s thoughts and feelings can often be determined as a further extension of his/her physical and social characteristics. For example – under social, you can determine a character’s religious affiliation. Under psychological/emotional, you can determine what that person thinks or feels about his/her religion.
Psychological State – what does the character think about his/herself and the world around them? Is the character: open-minded objective, subjective, unselfish, selfish, paranoid?
Emotional State – what does the character feel about his/herself and the world around them? Does the character feel: accepted, rejected, oppressed, etc?
Emotional Depth - are the character’s relationships: life-long, lasting, moderate, passing, momentary?
Emotional Control – no temper, slow temper, even tempered, quick tempered, a loose cannon
Emotional Type – extrovert, ambivert, introvert...
Desires or goals – what does the character want?
Loves – what, or who, does the character value?
Weaknesses – what, if anything, is a potential psychological or emotional weakness, on the part of the character, that can interfere with the character obtaining his/her desire?
Prejudices – what, if anything, does the character feel prejudicial about?
Fixed Attitudes – Similar to a prejudice, but not with the negative connotation. For example, in your social analysis you’ve determined the character is Jewish. Now, determine how that character feels or thinks about Judaism – is the character: a zealot, a liberal, orthodox, conventional, a skeptic?
D. Moral/Ethical Reveals what the characters are willing to do (moral beliefs) to get what they want and what characters actually do (ethical behavior) when faced with making a difficult choice. Determine the characters’ moral beliefs and ethical behavior, and how those relate to the world of the play. Be very careful not to judge them based upon your own morals and ethics. For example, you may believe it is morally wrong for two people to live together unless they are married. However, in the world of this play/literature, no characters may hold this moral belief, and the playwright/writer may not be making a point about this moral belief, and therefore such actions are not to be seen as immoral or unethical within the context of the work.
Moral beliefs – an individual’s or society’s beliefs in what is right and wrong in terms of behavior.
Is the character able to determine right from wrong and to make decisions based upon that knowledge?
Determine the individual character’s morals, based on what his/her conscience suggests is right and wrong, rather than on what the law or society dictates.
Determine the morals of the world of the play in general: the principles of right and wrong judged by the standards of the average person or society at large, and how those principles govern standards of general and/or sexual behavior. Does the character hold beliefs in contradiction to those of their society?
Does the character evolve/change? For example, is there a moral belief the character holds at the beginning of the play that he no longer holds at the end of the play? In other words, does something happen for the character to change his mind and be convinced otherwise?
In the work itself, is there a “moral to the story”? Is the writer using the character as a positive or negative example in relation to this moral?
Ethical behavior – how an individual or society conducts themselves according to their morals.
How does a character’s moral beliefs affect his/her conduct? For example, is a character unable to act due to a moral/ethical dilemma?
How does a character’s goals affect his/her conduct? Is the character’s ethical behavior contrary to his/her moral beliefs? For example, a character believes it is morally wrong to commit murder, but to obtain his goal, his is willing to behave unethically and kill.
Does the character believe that he is acting ethically, yet is the writer holding him up as an example of how one should not behave?
Does the character behave according to or contrary to any of the 4 basic levels, therefore giving a false perception of themselves to the other characters? For example, you may have determined that a character is seriously ill, yet the character behaves as if he were in perfect health. Or a character may masquerade as someone he is not. What morals and/or goals are affecting this behavior?
E. Mental/Intellectual A 5th area you can consider. Reveals how intelligent and creative a character may be.
IQ – brilliant, good mind, average, dull...
Education – scholar, college, self-made, schooled...
Mental type – philosophic, scientific, mechanical, artistic, social, scientific...
Dexterity – dexterous, skilled, handy, clumsy, uncoordinated...
Creativity – genius, talented, original, unoriginal...
Interests, skills, accomplishments
QUESTIONS
Who is the Protagonist? Who is the Antagonist?
Which characters are of Primary Focus?
Which characters are of Secondary Focus?
Which characters qualify as ‘set dressing’?
Are any of the characters Symbols or Metaphors?
Are any of the characters Formalized Conventions?
CHARACTER ANALYSIS. A character analysis is a close examination and evaluation of one character from a work of fiction such as a novel, short story, or play.
The only direct description of most characters in fiction is of their physical appearance and/or their professions.
Their identities and traits are established through their interactions with other characters as well as their opinions, reactions, and moods.
For instance, while introducing Katniss (from The Hunger Games), the author did not bluntly state that she is courageous. Rather, this was demonstrated through several scenes in the book, such as when she volunteered to take her sister’s place at the Reaping.
In a character analysis, the writer’s job is to pick up on such hints and subtle clues in the story to reveal a clear image of the subject character. The writer can also evaluate the character, critiquing their development and the role they played in the plot.
Developing a Character Analysis. In order to write a character analysis, the first task is to choose the subject, if not already determined in the assignment question. It is easier to pick if the writer is already familiar with the text in which the character exists. Recognizing the types of characters also helps during the selection.
Once the subject character has been decided upon, the text ought to be critically read, with special attention being paid to the character.
As mentioned earlier, much of their personality and qualities are hinted at and indicated indirectly through their actions and thoughts, and not openly stated.
Thus, the re-reading should be done with the aim of picking up on these clues.
Oftentimes, the character’s backstory is also not included in the text but can be discerned from their behavior and characteristics. It, too, should be pieced together during the analysis, as it has a bearing on the character’s actions and lets readers better understand their motivations.
A record of the character’s involvement in each element of the plot, how this involvement affected other characters, and the eventual direction and outcome of the story should also be kept. Their own personal changes/growth/development should also be tracked.
Outline of a Character Analysis Essay
Introduction: The text and the character are briefly introduced. The thesis statement informs readers of the thrust and goal of the essay. It includes a claim about or evaluation of the character that will be borne out by the rest of the essay.
Body: The character is delved into in greater detail here. The analysis is laid out where their traits, appearance, backstory, and role are examined in detail. The character’s growth – or lack of it – are highlighted here as well. An outline drawn up during the prewriting process helps in organizing this section in a coherent manner that holds up the claims in the thesis statement.
Conclusion: The essay is concluded with a final assessment of the character that confirms the validity of the thesis.

Punctuating Dialogue
✧
➸ “This is a sentence.”
➸ “This is a sentence with a dialogue tag at the end,” she said.
➸ “This,” he said, “is a sentence split by a dialogue tag.”
➸ “This is a sentence,” she said. “This is a new sentence. New sentences are capitalized.”
➸ “This is a sentence followed by an action.” He stood. “They are separate sentences because he did not speak by standing.”
➸ She said, “Use a comma to introduce dialogue. The quote is capitalized when the dialogue tag is at the beginning.”
➸ “Use a comma when a dialogue tag follows a quote,” he said.
“Unless there is a question mark?” she asked.
“Or an exclamation point!” he answered. “The dialogue tag still remains uncapitalized because it’s not truly the end of the sentence.”
➸ “Periods and commas should be inside closing quotations.”
➸ “Hey!” she shouted, “Sometimes exclamation points are inside quotations.”
However, if it’s not dialogue exclamation points can also be “outside”!
➸ “Does this apply to question marks too?” he asked.
If it’s not dialogue, can question marks be “outside”? (Yes, they can.)
➸ “This applies to dashes too. Inside quotations dashes typically express—“
“Interruption” — but there are situations dashes may be outside.
➸ “You’ll notice that exclamation marks, question marks, and dashes do not have a comma after them. Ellipses don’t have a comma after them either…” she said.
➸ “My teacher said, ‘Use single quotation marks when quoting within dialogue.’”
➸ “Use paragraph breaks to indicate a new speaker,” he said.
“The readers will know it’s someone else speaking.”
➸ “If it’s the same speaker but different paragraph, keep the closing quotation off.
“This shows it’s the same character continuing to speak.”
Oh dear. Several months late, but here we go. This will be a broad term overview of mando armor in canon at the moment, not an exhaustive list. Feel free to skip “materials & history” if you’d just like some more concrete guidelines and refs!
(Remember to click on the images for a better look!)
A Small Intro Course
Mandalorian armor is supposed to be made out of beskar, an alloy (and yes all beskar is an alloy in disney canon (at least as of May 2021), like steel for example. Yes even “pure” beskar). The secrets of how to make it is limited to the Mandalorians, and the materials used to make it are most likely limited to Mandalore or the Mandalore system. It’s been in confirmed use as an armor material for at least 900 years & can take straight blaster bolts or hold off the circulating energy blade of a lightsaber for short periods of time, possibly until the beskar heats up enough to loose its integrity, but the heat would most likely cause serious damage to the wearers body before that.
Beskar armor is most often inherited, passed from generation to generation and reforged to suit the current wearers needs. It’s seen as passing down the history, the battles and the will of those who have worn it before and making it your own. However the material is rare, possibly because the mines have run dry ages ago (old EU), or because war and/or the New Mandalorians stopping production. The Empire interfering by taking over Mandalore and trying to get their hands on as much beskar as possibly and then later “glassing” the planet while hunting its only known creators surely did not help either, in any case.
This means that not all Mandalorians had access to the material, or at least large enough amounts to make a full suit of armor. This lead to the make of “impure” beskar that can take less of a brunt & armor made of other metals such as durasteel. This is most likely what makes up the majority of Din’s kit, beyond the helmet and possibly the chest piece, when he’s introduced in S1 and he still wears pieces that might be one of these materials as of Season 2.
Characters like Sabine Wren, Bo-Katan Kryze and Boba Fett all inherited their armor from their _aliit _(clan/family) through several generations and it’s most likely already pure beskar based on its age and how it reacts to blasterfire.
The armor is most often painted and there are various designs and colors that indicate personality, achievements or allegiances, but that would have to be another post. (Would anyone like a post on Mandalorian armor fashion? Because I have thoughts)

villain-adjacent tropes i like
Tragic Villain – completely aware of their evil but takes little to no pleasure from it and could very well resent the evil they are committing
Noble Demon – a character who will proudly declare themselves evil, but still finds themselves doing good once in a while
Reluctant Monster — The Reluctant Monster usually has no idea that they’re a monster at all. They are often a member of a species that traditionally does nasty things to people, but that is not in their own personal nature
Broken Ace – A character who is handsome, popular, and mature, but it’s a front he’s viciously maintaining to mask the fact that his self-loathing has reached the level of dangerous unbalance
Affably Evil – A villain who is actually amiable and nice in spite of their intentions
Dark Is Not Evil – A character who looks sinister but is actually good.
Defeat as Backstory: A character suffered a defeat sometime before the main events of the story.
Sympathetic Murder Backstory: A character once killed someone, but for sympathetic reasons—still, they carry guilt over it.
Start of Darkness: A prequel about how the villain came to be who they are.
Being Tortured Makes You Evil: Tortured into evilness. A character who undergoes prolonged torture gives up on their ideals and morality and joins Team Evil.
Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon: A character is adorable on the outside, but evil on the inside.
Face–Monster Turn: Being forced to turn evil by factors beyond one’s own free will.
Forced into Evil: A character does evil deeds because someone or something else is giving them no other choice.
Tragic Monster: A character is transformed into a dangerous monster and is miserable because of it.
Used to Be a Sweet Kid: A villain or jerk was a lot nicer when they were younger, but something happened that caused them to grow up to be the bad person they are today.
Villainous Breakdown: The villain reacts to defeat by having a psychotic meltdown.
Never Be Hurt Again: fairly common stock motivation, in which characters who have been abused, betrayed, mistreated or otherwise persecuted in the past are acting to make sure that this sort of thing never happens to them again
Driven to Villainy: A broken shell of a human being, warped by events around them, and forced into villainy by forces outside their control.
Fallen Hero: used to be a hero
Jerk-to-Nice-Guy Plot: A plot where a character starts off as a Jerkass, but events change him into a Nice Guy.
Misery Builds Character: Having a character go through absolute hell as a way to strengthen them.
Once Done, Never Forgotten: A character has done something in the past that no one will forget — or let them forget.
Forgiven, but Not Forgotten: just because people forgive doesn’t necessarily mean they will move on. They may hear that they are trying to change their ways, but is still not good enough to make them completely happy again.
Reformed, but Rejected: desire of the character to leave his evil ways in the past is completely genuine — but the hero still refuses to be “fooled.” All he wants is a chance at a normal honest life. It’s getting people to give him that chance that presents a problem.
Reformed, but Not Tamed: Now genuinely on the side of good, but they retain characteristics or methods that they used when they were evil.

A sibling relationship is perhaps one of the most complicated things to realistically write about. Your character dynamics and personalities will help determine their relationships but here are some things to consider:
Building their past:
Think about how they were raised. Upbringing plays a large role in impacting a person’s character, and it also helps shape relationships with siblings.
Consider their favourite memories. Good memories are important to a person, and people often seek to create new memories similar to the old good ones. On the other side, also think about their worst memories.
Who was the oldest? Who was the baby? Birth order does have some impact on personality. It also is especially important for the earliest memories.
Think about the roles that they ended up in. Siblings do, to some extent, define themselves by how they are different from each other. They pursue different interests, take on different roles, and explore different identities. These roles can be a source of self-realisation and sometimes frustration.
Giving siblings personalities:
Choose personality traits for each sibling. Even if the sibling is only a minor character, it’s important to know their basic personality.
Think about each character’s dreams, hopes, and struggles. What do they want in life? What are their goals? Every character needs something to strive for.
Figure out their insecurities. Everyone feels insecure about different things: skills, personality traits, perceived physical flaws etc.
The siblings in your story might have similar looks, qualities and characteristics. However it’s important to make them their own person too.
Keep in mind that siblings might have the same habits, sometimes without even realising it. (Personal example- My eldest brother and I do not look the same. He has green eyes, mine are brown. I have dark hair, he’s blonde. Our faces are shaped different. He takes after our mum, I take after our dad. However, we have a lot of the same habits and mannerisms. We both carry ourselves in the same way, we both quirk our eyebrows in the same manner when confused. Little things like that, that when growing up I’ve picked up from him and vice versa.)
Things siblings do: (This is a generalisation)
Siblings know how to push each others buttons.
Usually they spend so much time with each other, they know exactly how to annoy their sibling and the best way to do it.
Whatever annoys your character, his (or her) siblings already know about it. If your character’s siblings decide to get on his nerves, it shouldn’t take them very long.
Most (if not all) siblings make fun of each other to some degree. Usually they are just messing with each other. Depending on the circumstances, the insult may be forgotten almost immediately.
But it’s important to consider how siblings react when someone else is picking on their brother or sister. A lot of siblings will get defensive in this situation. Unless you have set up a reason otherwise, make sure your siblings know how to tease each other but also how to protect each other.
They rarely call each other “sis” or “bro” unless they’re trying to be annoying. This is seen a lot in films and TV but it’s not common. The occasional greeting like that is fine, but overusing it just sounds strange and unnatural.
Sibling conflict:
Siblings will argue other pretty much anything. Most of the time it’s just to get a reaction. Sometimes one will start an argument just because they’re bored.
The silent treatment! A lot of siblings, particularly children teenagers and young adults will give each other the silent treatment over the pettiest things. But it’s incredibly hard to ignore someone living in the same house as you for a long period of time.
The sibling on the receiving end of the silent treatment will usually do absurd and annoying things to get their brother or sister to speak.
Common things siblings argue about:
The tv remote
Who is going to use the bathroom first
Someone is taking too long in the bathroom
Who gets to sit in the front seat of the car
Who the favourite is
Estranged siblings:
“Sibling relationships are our longest, but it’s also an accident by birth. There are no guarantees that the siblings will grow up with similar personalities, interests or like each other,”
You should be able to find plenty of conflict amongst brothers and sisters. But most of the time there is a resolution.
If you were to fall out with a friend, you can unfriend them, you can’t un-sister a sister, whether you like it or not you’re stuck with that person in some sense.
However, some siblings do fall out and never speak to each other again. It happens, but if this happens in your story there are a few things to consider:
When asked about their family will your character acknowledge that they have siblings? Or will they claim to be an only child?
Why did they stop speaking?
Would they reconcile in times of crisis? For example, if a family member died would the siblings put aside their differences to deal with the situation?
Do they tell stories about their childhood that include the sibling?
It’s important to remember that if someone has a sibling, a lot of their childhood memories and stories from growing up will have some reference or include that sibling. It’s hard to complete cut them out, they will be mentioned at some point.
Given the entangled, long-lasting bond, what’s the price paid for suspending or ending it?
Does the sibling have other brothers or sisters whose relationships are satisfying? “
“If they have no contact with a sibling, it’s losing a shared history and there can be a sense of guilt,”
Or are your character’s relieved? Do they express a sense of relief.
“Like the end of a marriage, sibling estrangement is always sad, even when it brings relief. It’s not what anyone hoped for, but sometimes it’s the wise and necessary choice.”
Ways of bringing together estranged siblings:
Write compassion between your characters. Show them trying to see things from the sibling’s viewpoint alongside their own.
Have them say what they want from their sibling moving forward. Don’t just have your characters vent all the time. Your reader might grow tired of that.
Confirmation of love and affection:
Are the siblings in your story the type to talk about feelings? Maybe they don’t talk about it but the feeling is still there. Consider showing the depth of their relationship through actions.
(Personal example - When I was born my brothers were 4 and 6 years older than me. From what my mum has said they were both excited to have another sibling and would fight about who got to hold me first. When we were younger we used to cuddle on the sofa and play together, and frequently said I love you etc, however as we got older that stopped. I can’t remember the last time I said I love you to either of them, which sounds terrible. But it doesn’t change the fact that I know they love me and that they know I love them, we just show it and say it in different ways.)
Relationships with parents:
How did parents or caregivers react to fights between siblings?
Was there parental favouritism, real or perceived? How did the non-favourite sibling(s) react?
Do your siblings stick together when arguing with their parents?
Would your characters lie in order to prevent their brother or sister being told off by their parents?
Some siblings will join forces to tease their parents.
What if the siblings don’t have a good relationship with their parents:
If this is the case in your story, research it, google is your friend.
Try and read up on real life experiences.
Consider how the siblings view their parents. Do they stand together with the same opinion or do they have conflicting recollection of events?
Do the parents have a healthy relationship with each other? How has this impacted their children?
Writing siblings who have abusive parents:
If the siblings come from an abusive home, how has this affect their behaviour?
Do the siblings ever talk about what happened?
Do they have the share the same experience? Do they ever argue about the situation?
Are they over protective?
Has their own relationship become strained? Have they drifted apart?
Do the siblings ever acknowledge the past? If not, does this cause friction?
Common assumptions about sibling age order:
Oldest child: people pleasing, bossy, organised, punctual, natural leader, controlling, ambitious, expected to uphold family values, caretakers, financially intelligent, responsible
Middle child: flexible, easy going, independent, sometimes feels like life is unfair, sometimes will engage in attention-seeking behaviour, competitive.
Youngest child: silly or funny, risk-taking, creative, sometimes feels inferior, easily bores, friendly, outgoing, idealistic, the baby of the family.
Only child: close to parents, demanding, leaders, spoiled, self-absorbed, private in nature, may relate better to adults to kids their own age, independent, responsible
While these are common assumptions, they are not strictly true and it’s important to consider your characters personality before you apply any of these stereotypes because it may clash with how your character truly is.
Half siblings:
Half-siblings can run along several lines:
They might act like full siblings, depending on how long they’ve known each other.
They may view each other as space takers.
Your characters may feel “eh” about their half- sibling, they could just be someone who is there but they don’t have a relationship with. The half-sibling may even be a complete stranger.
Consider that they might be rivals. Are they friendly rivals or bitter rivals?
Don’t get caught up in trying to build their relationship based on what “should be” in accordance with society. As you establish these characters, let your own imagination lead you to what their relationship is. But remember that their relationship will be impacted on how the parents treat them too.
(@its-the-tear-in-my-heart thanks for asking about sibling relationships. This post is more generalised than your question but I hope it helped in some way.)
Keep in mind that a character might have a realization that turns out to be false.
If she met someone like the person she used to be, she’d feel nothing but envy.
If he met someone like the person he used to be, he’d feel nothing but scorn.
The person she believed was honorable was anything but.
His marriage or other relationship isn’t worth saving.
Ending his relationship was the biggest mistake of his life.
She made the exact same mistake her mother made.
He’s lived up to his father’s legacy.
Just because the rest of his family lived a certain way doesn’t mean he can’t expect better.
Although he makes a lot of excuses, his real problem is that he’s lazy.
She’s no longer faking it.
The end of the relationship wasn’t his fault at all.
The end of the relationship was all her fault.
What he thought was a bad break turned out to be a blessing.
What she thought was a dream come true turned out to be a nightmare.
She’s the friend that people call only when everyone else is busy.
There’s no way for him to help someone who’s ruining her life, because she isn’t inclined to change.
It doesn’t matter how competent he is at work; to succeed, he has to learn better social skills.
It’s okay to ask for help.
Living up to other people’s expectations isn’t working out at all, and it’s time for her to do what makes her happy.
His son, daughter, or parent is a bad person.
She no longer believes in the religion in which she was raised.
He’s embraced a new faith or has found his faith again.
The adults in her life are making it up as they go along, just like she is.
Being an adult doesn’t mean she has to abandon the things she loved as a kid.
To a large degree, he can choose to be happy.
She’s an addict.

Enemies to lovers × switch bodies trope.
(Where characters wake up one day and discover they're in the body of their arch-nemesis. And have to adjust to the lives of each other with the side of brewing feelings. Hehe ~ ) This stuff is my shit and I can not emphasize enough how underrated it is.
Possible dialogue or scenario ideas.
"You're really lucky to have a cool family like that ". They care about you ".( Or finding out about their cute or dysfunctional family)
" Just stay outta my family business okay? !" Dude, I'm in your body you dumbass! How am I supposed to do that ?!
" I didn't know you had a thing for action figures/plushies/ comic books/ cheesy romantic movies ( or some other weird but cute stuff your character likes to collect )
"That is my body and I'm not letting you walk out in those clothes!!"
Hey, hey! No smoking! That's my lungs you're gonna burn!
Finding out an embarrassing secret of them and teasing them or keeping in mind for future blackmail. Hehe.
" So...I accidentally read your diary". You what?!
Finding out they have a soft side / sweet side they only show to their loved ones or pets.
Having to forcibly spend time with their enemy because they don't want that little shit to do something stupid with their body or ruin their reputation.
Where A has a crush on C . And B, who's now in A's body tries to embarrass them in front of their crush ( * cough * because they're not jealous and into their enemy * cough*)
Having a first-hand experience of what their enemy's life is like and soon feeling empathy or understanding them.
Teaching each other about their habits or things to do and things not to do. And the other messing up anyway.
Finding out a cute yet embarrassing secret about their enemy. Eg: " So I never took for one who liked teddy bears. No, seriously. Why are your all underwear like that?"
BEING ATTRACTED TO EACH OTHER even though they've SWITCHED BODIES!! like, " have my lips always looked that soft and kissable? " Or have my eyes always looked that pretty or is it just because it's A?" ( you get me?)
Or having to deal with the toxic relationship of the lover or friend/ family members of their enemy and taking care of it like a badass.
Maybe one character has a crush on their enemy's sibling or friend and is ecstatic to be close to their crush. ( Well, even though they're in their enemy's body but still...!)
When they fall in love with the body parts the other is insecure about.
Enemies to lovers× love potion.
( where character A gets affected by a love potion and ends up falling for B, who's their enemy, and annoyed B who just shake them off) Another underrated thing.
Chr A doing sweet things for B and trying to win their affection. Probably buying gifts or whatever B likes.
A attempt to give random hugs and kisses to B and B always push A away.
B slowly warming up to A but still keeping a distance because they know it's not real.
B slowly beginning to enjoy this sweet and cute side of A but not admitting it.
B getting finding A's attempts and quirks or whatever is cute.
A being a sad, sulking puppy when B gets mad at them.
" I'm only taking/ accepting_____ because you worked so hard at it. Not because I want it "
B hurting A's feelings and having to apologize later.
Trying to find a solution to the potion's effect but gradually they feel a little hesitant to go back to how things were.
When they kiss or cuddle and B finds out they... actually like it.
BEING CUTE TOGETHER?!?
Being teased by their friends or loved ones.
B avoiding A but A ending up finding them everytime.
One getting hurt and the other getting pissed or saving the other from harm.
B discovering they're falling in love with A and giving them the cold shoulder or avoiding them.
When the potion's effect finally wears off and now things are back to normal but now B is in love with A.
When a mutual friend decides to be their wingman tries to bring them back together.
( juicy plot twist: A was faking it all along for a prank or bet or whatever. And now they're in too deep to take it back. Because they love to see B so flustered and cute! And nope, they're not falling in love with them. )
The love potion just made the love they've been hiding/ denying for the other evident. Like making the person who drank it unable to hold it in any longer.
Enemies to lovers× arranged marriage.
A marriage of convenience for a shared goal. Maybe to maintain peace between two countries or parties or because of a business arrangement etc and slowly falling in love is top tier ✨!!
Enemies to lovers× reincarnation.
( where character A and B were lovers in their past lives or probably enemies with a thing for each other but it ended on a tragic note and they get reincarnated) They may or may not be aware of their reincarnation.
Possible scenarios:
Maybe A is immortal or some supernatural being and remembers their past and how B died because of them or what happened to B. So they keep a distance and are intentionally being a jerk to B to make B hate them.
Either of them not knowing their tragic past but feeling a strange attraction to each other though they claim to hate them.
B is a normal human but remembers their past life where A was a jerk then and A still a jerk now. But damn it, they're still hot!
" I don't know whether to kiss you or stab you"
Playful flirting and teasing each other leading to a bit of sexual tension.
I hate you, I hate you, I hate you! I hate your beautiful eyes, I hate your sexy smirks, I hate your stupid sweet scent, I hate your cute smile, I hate your hot body, and most of all - I hate your cute face!
Taking care of the other when they're sick or in need and going like" this doesn't change anything, I still hate you"
Can you stop being so cute so I can keep hating you? Because I can't -!
Ha! Do you think I like you ?! I could kiss you right now and I wouldn't feel shit! " Oh yeah?"
A confesses their feelings to B when drunk and stealing a kiss. Now A is sober and doesn't remember but B does.
Getting jealous when the other flirts with someone else or if someone flirts with them.
Accidentally / angry kissing and realizing they like it.
The moment they realize they love the other.
Similar to above, if they slowly remember their past lives and are hit with shock and ... happiness?
Placing one of them or both of them under a curse for extra plot spice. And no, it can't be broken by a true love kiss.
Denying their feelings and avoiding the other but missing them at the same time.
Haha! You must have been cursed unlucky in your past life! " Yeah? Well, my life got cursed ever since your shitty legs stepped in it !"
You and I go way back, love. You wouldn't believe it even if I told you.
You know, you're an annoying pain in the neck but why do I feel so comfortable with you?

No one knows you better than me. No one.
You're mine and mine only. You're mine to save and You're mine to kill. Your life belongs to no one else but me .
Shit! Y-you're not supposed to remember! That was the deal... T-that was the deal to keep you safe.
I remember. I remember what happened between us in the past. I remember... That you killed me.
You're not supposed to love me! How can you love me after remembering what I did to you?!
Enemies to lovers × soulmates.
( I need a whole book to ramble about how underrated this trope is because the soulmate AU has so many cool concepts that would be awesome for Enemies to lovers )
Where characters A and B are soulmates but are unaware and they hate each other. They may or may not be searching for their missing half but they also can't shake off the intense attraction to their arch-nemesis.
OR... They're attracted to each other but are marked for others and in the end, end up defying the system.
Chr A has a soulmate mark but hasn't found theirs yet. Chr B is a normal person who is birthed unmarked and they are in a love-hate relationship with A.
Character B is marked but hasn't found their soulmate yet so they're in a temporary relationship with someone else who's not their match and their society, there's an age where or ritual that people do find their soulmate and character B gets shocked when their destined lover is the most despicable person they know.
Similar to the above, characters A and B are enemies and Chr A has a crush on character C. They're almost to the age of the big reveal and are hoping their destined lover will be character C. But nope, it ends up being B.
Where your character gets two different marks for two different people. One for their soulmate and the other for their destined enemies. Most people don't know the difference or your character's marks look similar.
Where A finds out their soulmate is their enemy early in their life and hides their mark or gives a cold shoulder to B and all because they hate the concept of being controlled by "fate " or just don't want a soulmate or whatever. But B is unaware and has been yearning to meet their destined lover. Bonus point: Chr A and B's bond required them to be dependent on each other but since A is hiding it, they get a lot of pain or face consequences.
Chr A and B are soulmates but have been communicating through their bond but have never seen each other's face or met before. Unknown to them their soulmate is the same despicable person they dislike so much.
This concept can be great for a hero x villain stuff as well. Plus there are so many ways to go around it and so many ideas in this concept. You could search on some soulmate prompts and get a ton of ideas .
Enemies with benefits~.
( Yes,yes, yes and Yes!! This kills me all the time! I can't -!)
Chr A and B being cute together!
They didn't mean for it to turn out this way. But they tried it once and couldn't stop themselves from wanting more.
Getting jealous or possessive of each other when someone else gets too flirty or close
Concealing the fact that they do this kind of stuff from their loved ones or friends.
Probably pretending to hate each other in public and getting snuggly with each other when alone.
I don't know what we are supposed to be but all I know is it feels right to have you in my arms so just stay.
One of them impulsively steals kisses in public and the other panicking.
Maybe one of them is a rebound.
One of them is in a relationship with someone else who's toxic or abusive and the other gets pissed or jealous.
The moment a secondary character discovers their secret.
Protecting or taking care of each other.
When they kiss or cuddle and don't wanna stop.
A circumstance making them end up fake dating!
One of them being in a toxic relationship with a lover.
They ended up in this situation because of a dare or bet. Maybe they lost the bet and this is their punishment? Or whatever.
They've promised not to let this thing between grow into love. It's just a fling Yep,no love allowed and no meddling in each other's lives. Let's just enjoy this... whatever is between us. What's the worse that could happen?
Similar to the above, character A suddenly ending whatever is going on with them and the other realizing how they much they mean to them and they try to get back together. For real.
When they both realize they want more out of this.
Angry kissing/ sex out of jealousy and all their pent-up emotions.
I know I said I hate you but why does it feel so good to have your body against mine?
Enemies to lovers× single parent trope.
Where chr A is a single parent or a guardian of kids and they're in a love- hate relationship with B.
This part is another underrated that's it's a crime !A crime I tell you ! I mean it could be used to add fluff to the story and a bit of comedy to the genre because of the presence of the kids. Or unless you're a sucker for angst and make the kid terminally or chronically ill.
Chr B meeting chr A's kid in public and helping them out. Which makes the kid like B but B doesn't know it's A's kid.
Or B meeting A's kid and the kid's attitude reminding them of a certain someone.
The ex of A, who's the kid's parent suddenly coming back into their life out of the blue. ( Maybe they want a second chance? Or wanna get close to their kid? Or whatever)
The above option, causing a love triangle with chr B. Now they both wanna win over A and the kid. Chaos and hilarity ensure as they try everything they can.
The kid approving of chr A and B being a ship and they become their wingman. Scheming to get chr A and B together.
B saving the kid from harm or danger eg,a car accident or bullying.
When chr B wants to get closer to Chr A so they try to win the kid over.
Chr A and B have started seeing each other but chr A hasn't told thier kid yet because they're scared they may not approve. Maybe the kid doesn't want a replacement for their dead parent or something like that.
Chr B being awkward with kids but somehow ended up winning the kid's heart.
Chr B asking for permission to date character A. Or vice versa.
Chr A bonding time with B and the kid . And A finding it cute how they're good with the kids.
The child getting upset that this new lover may steal away the love of their deceased parent and they start to behave like a brat or try to tear them apart.
Chr B falling for A first and gets the kid to help them win A over . Probably asking for advice or suggestions.
B accidentally causing harm to the child.
Bring your kids to work day creates bonding time between chr B and the kid. Which A noticed.
Secondary character who wants A and B to be together gets in cahoots with the child to scheme.
The kid has a chronic illness which costs a lot to take care of and they are always in and out of the hospital.
Chr A and B dislike each other but their kids are friends or the A's kids likes B and they have to put up with seeing each other.
Character A struggling financially and B finds out and they help out but behind their back.
B finding out A is a single parent and notices how they struggle to take care of them. Cue: empathy and respect.
21. Playing with the kids or going out with them during their dates.
Height difference.
Height difference is so cute in ships. I can't-! And when it's added to enemies to lovers - top tier ✨!
Chr A always making fun of Chr B's height.
Chr B trying to reach something that's too high and they keep hoping or jumping and chr A laughing at them or teasing them about it.
When chr B stand on their toes or get on something higher to kiss A.
A likes to carry or hold B like a baby. Because they are their baby.
When they cuddle or hug and the short one gets engulfed by the tall one .
"Your hands are so small, haha! I like how they fit in mine. "
" oh yeah? Why don't you come over here and make me short stuff ? "
When they always get into an argument but chr A internally enjoys it because B looks cute when they're mad.
When B wears chr A's large clothes and Chr A can't get over how cute they look.
Giving each other cute nicknames or pet names. Eg: Daddy long legs./ Cute feisty bunny. Etc.
This is all I can think of for now. I might do a second part if I think of more. Reblog and use to correct this atrocious crime.
