Ben 10 Omniverse isn't a terrible show, but it often misses its mark for the sake of comedy. And it's not even good comedy either; it's the same old "Lol. Ben's so lazy, ignorant, and irresponsible. It's a wonder how he keeps the Omnitrix at all! LMFAO" And it's like, okay, we get it. Everyone thinks Ben is a moron, but if Ben's a moron, what does that make the people who lose to him? 🤨

One of the times Omniverse misses the mark on what could have been a legendary episode akin to Adventures Time's "The Hall of Egress." It is the episode Universe v. Tennyson.

The episode about Ben going to trial for recreating the universe. Besides seeing Alien X fight, the episode doesn't make any sense. And I entirely blame writers. They did not think of the logistics of how a trial of this sort of magnitude would actually go. I wouldn't be surprised if the trial was just an excuse to see the celestialsapiens in action.

They wanted a reason to explain the different art styles and all the retcons. Which in itself is stupid. As the audience, we know why specific changes are made. They didn't need to hand-feed us retconning; it always happens.

But more to the point, the entire trial is a sham. And it pissed me off to no end!

1. Ben was never subpoenaed. Alien or not, you can't part the sky like the Red Sea and drag someone to court. You have to set an official date and time for trial, allow the defense to acquire a lawyer, and build their defense. This is basic shit, and if your excuse is that it's just a kids cartoon, that doesn't excuse bad writing.

I just can't stand when people brush over essential details.

2. Only in certain circumstances can you forcefully take a person to court. And that is if the suspected criminal is considered a danger to the public or a flight risk. And even then, it's an immediate arrest before going to court for a hearing. Ambush arrests are considered a last resort; considering Ben's positions as a plumber and wielder of the Omnitrix, Ben has little to no criminal record.

3. Due process, refering back to my earlier point, the celestial sapiens would have needed to give notice of charges, and Ben would need to be heard in front of an impartial tribunal. The entire universe is not an impartial jury. There's a reason any Rando can't walk into a courtroom and decide whether a person is guilty. What if several people aren't even aware of the trial? That could skewer the vote in favor of the Plaintiff (Celestialsapiens)

If the writers on Omniverse weren't so focused on having a hate boner for the main character, this could have been a great episode. And it is a hate boner because why else would they pick Mr. Baumann as the first witness. This dude had beef with Ben since early childhood before having the Omnitrix. His opinion is beyond biased.

Also, Rook took the first chance to air his petty grievances with Ben in front of the entire universe in a court of law, and that is beyond shitty. Ben being "ignorant of many things" isn't a proven fact; it's a personal opinion. Also, being ignorant is a crime?

And had Ben been sentenced to death or died in the trial by combat, what was the plan afterward? Rook carries Ben's body to his mother and says,

"Sorry, Ms. Tennyson, your minor child didn't have the mental knowledge and fortitude of a 50-year-old veteran; his death was totally justified. "

If Ben is ignorant of many things, it is because he is young and has only just started exploring the universe. Many toddlers should be behind bars if simply being uninformed is a crime. It's like the show constantly forgets that Ben is still young but insists on punishing him for it.

The court case is to decide whether Ben recreated the universe; his lack of knowledge and irresponsibility are not up for debate. Besides, Rook has only known Ben for a few months; I doubt that makes him a sound judge of character.

I wish they had brought different people to the witness stand. They could have made excellent callbacks by bringing characters like

Tetrax- He is literally the guardian of Omnitrix and decided that even at age 10, the Omnitrix was safe in Ben's hands. Also, the fact that Ben restores the planet Petropia can be used to defend Ben's recreation of the universe. 

Reinrassig III- I'm sure the word of Highbreed Supreme would hold more weight in court than Mr. Bauman. A small store owner on a tiny planet in the far corner of the galaxy. 

Queen Cicely of the Lewodan( ep. Con of Rath) - The mother of the Tiffin, you know, the baby Ben jumped down a man's throat to save. Ben broke the law by doing that but still prevented a massive war. 

Magister Hulka- (ep. Basic Training) Hulka is a well-decorated Plumber and was Ben's academy instructor. Ben passed with flying colors despite disobeying orders, saving Hulka's life. He even gave Ben his medal for creativity and effective tactics. His word holds more weight than Rook Blonko's, a literally rookie in the plumber association.

Azmuth- do I even need to say anything?

Maxx and Xylene are more than familiar with the Omnitrix and Ben himself. 

Paradox is literally the number one expert on the subject.

Could you imagine the cross-examination with these characters? 

And even without proper character witnesses, Ben could argue that what is illegal is not always morally right.

What is the actual crime, the crime of caring too much? And if his crime is recreating the universe without prior permission. The celestialspaiens were a hidden society; how would he have gotten permission?  

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

If Ben was the only living thing left after the universe was destroyed, did he really break the law since no one was there to uphold it?

Especially since he created the universe up until the very moment it was destroyed, so no time would have passed at all.  

Ben's other option was leaving that universe for dead, and pulling a Rick and Morty, but he didn't do that cause he's not a sociopath. 

The only angle that makes sense for this trial to happen is if it wasn't to prosecute Ben, but to send a message. The message that Celestialsapiens are not to be trifled with and that any attempts will be met with extreme prejudice and even death by combat.

The Celestialsapiens have recreated the universe multiple times, with even more drastic changes than just a smoothie flavor. I mean, Grandpa Max can't even open his eyes, and Azmuth's voice has changed several times. They literally point that out in the episode, and yet this is the first time a trial has ever been broadcasted to the universe.

In fact, this is the first time any other aliens have seen a celestialsapien save for Alien X. And even he was deemed a myth. So why now? Why the grand fan fair? Why broadcast the trial at all? They never notified the universe before.

 It's because the celestial aliens were afraid for the first time since their conception. Their entire beings were briefly erased from existence and recreated, and they did not like it! Do you honestly believe that they changed anything about themselves after recreating the universe multiple times? Of course not!  

But Ben doing that sent the species into a mental spiral of worry and anguish with the fear of not being completely yourself. The same curse they've placed upon the universe prior without any hint of guilt.

The trial was about establishing dominance to keep Ben from recreating the universe regardless of his reasoning. But also to prevent other aliens from attempting the same thing. That's why the trial was broadcasted through the galaxy. This was just a bunch of dick-swinging, so the celestialsapiens don't have to face any sort of actual accountability.

I was scrolling through some Ben 10 Posts, and I'm generally curious about something. Why do people keep saying Ben 10's love life is a train reck. Is this just a fanon thing. I don't get it. Ben's official girlfriends have only been Julie and Ester.

Lets be clear Mindy Kaling didn't want to make a Scooby Doo series. She wanted to make an animated series about her highschool years. But the execs weren't having that, because who the fuck wants to watch another series of Mindy Khaling being insecure, and obessing over white men.

No one, that's who! So Scooby Doo was offered up as a sacrificial lamb to draw in viewers. How dumb does she think young people are? Random gore, sex scenes and the occasional fuck does not make something mature. And then she has the gall to be mad at viewers for calling her out on her shit? You can't piss on me and and tell me its raining. This show is gonna join the hall of shitty Adult cartoons. Right up their with Chicago Party Aunt, High Guardian Spice, Mr pickles, Magical Girl Friendship Squad, Mama made me sheriff and the like.

hey so um!!! we should go ham for rise again like yesterday at 6pm est!! i made a quick post about it on twitter here (/here just since i know i sounded a bit unsure about 6pm est in the first one but after one (1) confirmation from somebody that 6 would be a good time i agreed kfsjfj)!! the schedule idea’s inspired by @/holymangoes on twitter!! im glad they made their thread that they did that really motivated us to make some noise for rise, we got to get the saverottmnt and riseofthetmnt tags trending on twitter on there because of it!! it was really good and it only made my hopes to help this show skyrocket, especially after today!! y’all, we can do this!! i really believe in us!! also i would very much appreciate if y’all could spread the word too please 🥺👀 i’ve been fighting on twitter today, but don’t be discouraged to fight too if you don’t have twitter, theres all the other social media platforms and more!! try their email or numbers, and i believe there’s even addresses you can mail a letter to!! you can do it!

Today is truly a sad day, because @Nickelodeon wants to do the Rise!tmnt fans dirty, but I refuse to let this be the end of the show. I am honestly praying that the Movie on netflix will lead to a wider fanbase and give us a season 3 and more, never give up hope.

Heck, I'ma just say it here:

If you haven't yet tried Rise, please do so! It's an excellent show that I believe really carries the core of the TMNT franchise. It's silly and gives us unproblematic teen boys who slowly learn and grow into their role as heroes, as well as fantastic and well-written female characters like April and the Foot's Recruit who can hold their own in a fight.

The animation is gorgeous and gives off the same vibe as Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse, but 2D instead of 3D.

The writing is amazing since the writers know how to mix a fresh take on a classic story, with funny moments as well as heartfelt family moments.

The characters all have a new refreshing take on them, and we really get to see new types of dynamics amongst old characters we know and love. The boys are all intense and vocal about their love for each other, and April is treated as one of the family. It's very sweet and heartwarming.

I get that it might not be your cup of tea, and that's ok, but please give it a chance.

The only thing the new episodes of have taught me is that the Rise!turtles are the most boujee out of all the previous generations. These boys own casual wear, sports gear, formal wear, and even a winter selection🤣

Boujee: luxurious in lifestyle yet humble in character.

Hey there! I just want to say that I seriously love your rise of the TMNT human versions /Au of the brothers a lot. Especially with Donnie and Ralph also the cool info you added to them as what they'll over all like as just normal teens as humans and such, also love your drawings of them as being black kids which makes sense in a way since half of the voice cast are black too, wondering are you going to do Leo and Mikey next? cause love to see your take on them.

Two of Disney television animation biggest creators at the moment reveal how to best support our favourite cartoons and tell the networks we want more of them.

The big executives are looking at fandom culture now more than they ever have and while a show cant survive on that alone, with networks refusing to spend money advertising their shows, the best way we can help support our favourite shows is word of mouth. Make fan art, memes, cosplay, reviews, analysis. If someone who hasn't seen/heard of that show comes across your work and goes away wanting to check it out, you've instantly helped that show become more noticed.

Something that has become almost a relic of the times now that I wished would be brought back is sending fan mail. Despite online presence being huge now it is something that is still easy for networks to ignore. Physical mail on the other hand is a different story (I mean that's how Kim Possible fans got a 4th season after it's initial cancellation).

So get out there and start creating. Make the amount of fandom content too big for even the highest of higher ups to ignore. Tweet at them and let them know this is your new favourite show and you want a lot more of it.

the supporting cast is equally diverse!

and the show itself is very cute and fun! there are a lot of easter eggs and video game references in every episode!

I've seen word that because the show was so expensive to make, it likely won't get a second season unless it really pops off and gets a lot of audience support, so please give it a chance!

The show is official out as of February 21, I've already watched all the episodes on Netflix. This is money well spent👌🏾

Want a New Show to Watch??

Ok, so, you wanna know a show that’s incredibly underrated, is being treated terribly by its studio, and has a lot of its fans terrified that it’ll be ending prematurely?

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

This show deserves so much more love and attention, so here’s a list of why you should at least give it a chance:

1. The Family Dynamic

I’m starting with this one because its probably my favourite thing about the show, and the thing that got me hooked in the first place- the family dynamic in this is incredibly sweet and enduring, but it’s not overkill either.

They explore and show a lot of heartwarming moments, but also display their family dynamic in a really natural way too- it never seems fake. they also have genuine struggles as they try to work through their differences, and it feels real.

(the sibling interactions are on point btw)

(also there’s a lot of hugs)

2. The Storyline

I know a lot of cartoons now share the ‘starting out as just a fun cartoon, then later becoming more serious,’ but I still need to mention that the way it escalates seems natural and well-paced. 

If you’ve watched previous TMNT shows, then yes, it does seem a lot more comedic and different than what the other incarnations gave, but that’s what I love about it- it’s a lot different.

But if you’ve never watched or read anything TMNT- guess what? You’ll still really enjoy it because you don’t need any previous experience with anything TMNT!! They explain everything simply and introduce the characters and what they stand for almost immediately.

What I’m trying to say is, it has a really good plot that’s entertaining but also filled with the world’s lore. 

And character development?? Hell yeah! There’s a lot of it to go around at first (although the show does take a somewhat slower approach to it).

which brings us to the next part…

3. Characters!

Obviously, the main characters in this show are great- you got the four turtles and Splinter, and a really colourful cast of villains. But the thing I love the most about the cast is how diverse they are!! 

Not to mention the girls in this show feel like real characters. And I don’t mean they have traumatic backstories and stuff, I mean they’re treated the same way all the male characters are. And I know this might sound like a small factor, but there aren’t exactly a lot of shows (especially action cartoons) where it isn’t drilled into you that the girls in the show ‘are strong fighters, wow look at them!’ 

its never brought to attention that they’re different, just like… yeah, ofc she can fight, of course she has just as much personality as the guys…

Also, bonus: as of right now, there’s no forced romance! There’s mention of a past romance, but other than that?? Nope, none. And it’s great.

According to this twitter, Rise of the TMNT is on a ‘production hiatus’ after Season 2 (and I assume also after the movie. I certainly hope the movie wasn’t cancelled…). Not completely cancelled, but they aren’t sure if they’re gonna renew it either. I’m not sure what the options are, if they’d have to keep it on Nicktoons if they did renew it, or if they could put it on Netflix for one more season.

Either way, merchandise seems to be the big reason why Nick’s hesitant, so buy all the merch you’re able to along with the DVDs and buying the eps off iTunes/Amazon/etc. Keep emailing Nickelodeon as well, and again since kids seem to be a huge factor in all this (nevermind that the previous TMNT show seemed to only cater to adults after a while but whatever), try to get relatives or family friends with kids into the show. If you know kids who do watch or like the show, tell Nick about it! Let the channel know there’s a wide audience for it and that if they’d just give the show a chance, they will get views and support!

So yeah, since there’s no official cancellation yet, I’d say keep fighting and keep doing your best to support the show however you can. We’ve still got 23 episodes of Season 2, and if we can change their mind by the finale, there’s a chance we won’t have to wait too long for Season 3
