Knitting Mod - Released!
Get yer needles ready. It's time.
Knitting! This mod adds a knitting interaction and skill to the game.
To get started, buy a pair of knitting needles. You'll also need to purchase yarn to knit with. The knitting bag can be used to store knitting needles and yarn, so if you have a family of knitters, or just a sim who likes to knit an awful lot, it's a convenient way to keep the items together.
You can knit items or just practise. Skill up to get better at making more advanced projects.
Traits will affect how fast, successful, and happy sims are at knitting, and there are 6 custom moodlets related to knitting.
There are few things I want to look into adding/changing, so there will likely be updates coming up.

Flower Arranging - Interaction and Skill!
Get a big sniff o' that pollen, for flower arranging has arrived to Sims 3!
To start, purchase the Flower Arranging Table from Buy mode in Hobbies and Skills.
Before a Sim has learnt the Flower Arranging Skill, you can Dabble at the table until you get a skill point. Then after that, you can start making flower arrangements, learning new ones as you skill up.
This mod comes with 15 new harvestables - all flowers converted from Sims 4. These are used to make the arrangements.
There are a lot of flower arrangements you can make - I converted ~40 from the Sims 4, and there are 3 made from Seasons' Wildflowers. Once made, they give off a nice scent for Sims around them, but after some time (default 48hrs) they will start to smell and attract flies, so you might want to throw them away then.

Club Types
Custom Club: Push specific activities (or no activity at all) and watch your active and inactive club members congregate and do said activities. Push bowling, swimming, rumba, nectar drinking, collecting, studying, music lessons, among many other things.
Subscription-Only Club: While members won’t meet up, force them to pay a subscription fee to the club owner for your own purposes. Consider: food subscription service, council-tax payments, school fees.
Book Club: Choose a book for the book club. Your sims will sit together, have discussions, and read said book.
Formal Gathering Club: Set musicians and/or a speaker (podium or pulpit). Have your club members sit down and act like they’re listening to said musicians and speaker. Choose a skill to increase while the club is in operation.
Club Vibes
Clubs can have different vibes depending on the cost and activities, attracting or repelling different types of sims. There are sports, games, intellectual, low-brow and high class clubs. Some personalities will be more inclined to join than others.
Customising Clubs
Set different open days, open hours, required club outfits, subscription fees, gender, age, career and trait requirements/restrictions, forbidden actions etc.
Autonomy
Allow or restrict autonomy in different ways. Make clubs open or closed invite, allowing or disallowing sims to join, leave, or be kicked out of clubs with or without your own input. Put club boards around town and let sims browse. Impress observers by having a great club session and watch them beg to join!
Tournaments
Win tournaments and gain club acclaim. Get cash prizes, find yourself in the newspaper, and find out if any of your fellow club members are playing for the opposing team. Your own sim isn’t exempt from the repercussions of being a club traitor!
Banking
Create Bronzo accounts for your sims. You can link these accounts to schedulers and have the club fee delivered straight into the account. Take out loans, find the best interest rates online and stay out of your overdraft. Try not to get your account details stolen at the all new ATMs that you can place around town and don’t leave your debit card laying around near strangers!

When I first realized there was cc back in my TS2 days (2006!), I downloaded more realistic style cc. I tend to stay away from that style these days. I do like some, but I’m a lot more picky!

It feels impossible to choose just one. I appreciate everyone who contributes to the community, whether it be cc, worlds, or “just” screenshots. But a few I download from are @sforzcc, @aroundthesims, @twinsimming, & @sim-songs! They are definitely not the only creators I use cc from, though!

When did the LJ migration happen?? Pre-2013 at least. I’ve been inactive on and off over the years, though.

WASD → ZQSD ; Controls for AZERTY mod
Hello fellow Simmers who use an AZERTY keyboard like me and play The Sims 3. Isn’t the camera hard to control if you don’t switch to QWERTY when you get into the game? It is… unless you get used to it.

So I created a mod to fix that. Unfortunately, as you know CTRL+Z is “Undo”, it conflicts with the shortcut because there are “pitch up / down” controls (CTRL+W / CTRL+X on QWERTY), which just make the camera rotate on the X axis. I tried to change it but… idk, it was the same as before. :c + I did look pretty much everywhere if someone already made a mod like that after all these years, but I didn’t find anything. Instead I found people saying it was impossible to change the controls lol

🐓 Pour les francophones qui me liraient (et/ou qui chercheraient ce genre de chose sur un moteur de recherche), j’ai créé un mod pour changer les touches contrôlant la caméra dans Les Sims 3, parce que bouger ses doigts dans tous les sens et se tromper de touche à chaque fois juste parce que j’ai pas envie de passer au QWERTY euh… non merci xd J’ai testé, ça fonctionne sans souci. Bon, si, il y a un souci… CTRL+Z ne fonctionne plus (plus pour annuler, ça bouge la caméra à la place). :’-( Il y a un fichier que j’ai tenté de modifier mais ça créait plein de conflicts donc j’ai laissé tomber. Au moins c’est moins la galère pour bouger la caméra avec un clavier azerty donc je ne trouve pas cela si dérangeait que ça. Bon voilà, j’ai pas créé de version FR pour les images au dessus mais si vous avez un anglais basique correct (niveau école primaire quoi), vous devriez comprendre sans problème.
Instructions: 1) Cliquez sur MF ou MEGA au dessus, ça vous redirigera vers Mediafire ou MEGA où vous pourrez télécharger le fichier .package. 2) Une fois le fichier téléchargé, mettez-le dans le dossier Overrides qui se trouve à l’adresse suivante: C:\Users\(nom)\Documents\Electronic Arts\Les Sims 3\Mods\Overrides ; si vous ne l’avez pas, cherchez comment installer des mods sur Internet. 🤔

I always thought Aurora Skies was one of the better themed worlds that EA released, but it’s a huge shame that they never fixed the issues with snow- in a Nordic-themed world nonetheless!
I mean, this is just awful, right? (Original Aurora Skies)
I know that there’s already some cloned fixed versions out there, but I prefer fixing the original over getting a duplicate in the world selection menu. Anyways, this was something I had in mind for awhile, and I’ve finally gotten the time to fix it!
World Information
Snow issues have been fixed.
A decrappified version of Aurora Skies was used as the base.
Very small tweaks here and there to consolidate props and fix pathing.
Reduced number of effects and spawners to improve performance.
New ‘bramble’ textures and ‘Iceland-esque’ flag for even better theming.
Routing has been refined to remove stray routing dots.
New ferry terminal lot. I found it strange that there was no way of getting to or off Aurora Skies- until now! A great use of the lot is to create a tour boat for sightseeing!
Expanded routing around the island- you can now drive that tour boat all the way around the island and far away as well. There’s no reason to restrict camera movement on an island anyways.
Check this thread out for lots to put into the world!
As with all EA worlds, I highly suggest you turn off stray animals.
Installation Instructions
Back-up your original “Aurora Skies.world” file. This is located in the Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\InstalledWorlds folder. If anything goes wrong, restore this file to the InstalledWorlds folder.
Place the new “Aurora Skies.world” into the InstalledWorlds folder. You will need to start a new game to see the changes.

Yes that’s right! There is a way to make the Sims 3 run faster!
Nitromon over at Mod the Sims has found a program that allows you to ‘unpark’ your drives- allowing your game to take advantage of more of your CPU.
Used in combination with Overwatch, Save Cleaner and a whole bevy of other fixes, you’ll be enjoying faster gameplay from now on!
Quick n’ Easy Tutorial
Download & install ParkControl (Here: https://bitsum.com/parkcontrol/)
Run the program
Under Parking AC & Parking DC, disable both options. Click Apply. Don’t touch anything else.
That’s it! Now enjoy buttery-smooth gameplay and less lag!
When I’m done, I usually turn Parking AC & Parking DC back on until the next time I play.

FYI this program does not alter any Sims game files- it changes whether or not your computer puts aside CPU cores to extend battery life (which doesn’t matter since you’re probably going to be plugged in for the Sims 3).
Windows 7 is programmed to use 4 cores at any time, so don’t worry about any parked cores being used for background tasks. If you’re concerned about your computer, set the percentage under Parking AC/DC to leave one core parked. If you’re using a laptop like I am, I would also suggest using a temperature monitoring software like Speed Fan or Core Temp regardless of whether or not you unpark your drives.
If your drives are already unparked, if you have Windows 8+, or you have a computer that can barely run the Sims 3, then this program likely won’t help. Read the MTS thread for a more thorough explanation and discussion.
I found that:
Loading times were improved
Catalogue items, Create-a-Style & Create-a-Sim loaded up faster
Gameplay was faster & smoother
Instead of 4 cores, I was able to fully use 8 cores. Obviously this will differ depending on your computer CPU.
For anyone with doubts- just back up your Sims 3 Documents folder before trying this!

Hi! :) It’s pretty easy if you’re willing to fiddle with the lighting. During the daytime hours, when you place lights outside they’re already “turned on”, but they don’t actually give off any light. The trick is to toggle the day/night button (or use the L key) twice while in build or buy mode, which then triggers them to light up. If you place any new lights after you’ve done that you’ll need to do it again, and most of the time you’ll have to change their intensity to get your sims to look good. At night it’s a bit easier since you don’t need to fool with any of that to get them to light up, but I’ve also found that for one hour at dawn and one hour at dusk nothing gets the buy debug lights to work outside.

some things i wish people told me when i started playing TS3
I see a lot of people losing saves and sims and whatnot and it used to happen to me too. I still miss some of my earlier families that I could’ve saved using these tips! I know these will be kind of no-brainers for some, but I hope others find it useful.
NEVER ‘save’. ALWAYS ‘save as’. saving overwrites your last save, and if something causes your save to become corrupt, you will lose EVERYTHING. using ‘save as’ ensures that each time you save, a new save folder is created. if for some reason your most recent ‘save as’ is corrupted, the last backup should be roughly around the same spot. you’ll lose hours of work, rather than months of work! you can get a mod that reminds you to save as from NRaas here.
back up your .sim files and home lots, not just your save files. put them in a folder outside of your TS3 folder. upload them to a file sharing service biweekly (or more, depending how much you play). that way if for some reason your computer dies or needs to be wiped, you’ll have a recent save of your current families stored in the cloud. also, if you upload a S3P of your family’s current lot, you may be able to salvage some cc, or at the very least, the structure of their home. backing up the library file might also be a good idea.
convert anything that you can to package files. whenever I download cc in a S3P format I always separate what can and cannot be converted into separate folders. and use Delphy’s S3P multi-extractor. I usually convert anything and everything except lots, worlds and counters/patterns (because they will break your game!). extracting counters may lead to some bugs and extracting patterns leads to “materializing materials” in CASt. DO NOT CONVERT COUNTERS OR PATTERNS.
“quarantine” new cc! I always put my new cc into a folder fondly named “toxic”. if I’m able to play without any issues, I move the cc from “toxic” into the general cc population and repeat as I add new cc. it’s easier for me to do it this way if for some reason my game won’t start, I’ll just move my ‘toxic’ folder out and start troubleshooting. you could also just sort your cc folder by “last added”, but if you move your cc folder around a lot (I do sometimes move the subfolders in and out of my game folders) the dates will not always be correct and it may be harder to find the offending cc. some use Delphy’s Dashboard to find corrupted cc, but I don’t find it very useful.

info: 34 objects. All caw enabled. All light up at night. Some you’ll find in the roof decor section or in the buydebug. Most of them in the first two pics are low poly, except the venice shells in the second pic, they’re 6 and 8k. Also the Couvent des Récollets, which is around 12k TS4 venues are around 5 to 10k. Townhouses are 3 to 5k. TS4 boat is 1k. Sail boat is also around 1k. The highest poly stuff are the Arts Building: 15k Yacht: 24k these meshes and textures aren’t mine, the only thing I did is texturize the yacht^-^
Tip: smaller save files
Guys, no one asked for this xD but I thought I should share with you!
I bought a new PC and was looking for ways to clean my savefiles, so i found this tutorial. It is a way to delete those useless memory pictures that are stored in your saves. It would be 1000% reccomended to turn off the memory system btw!
Seriously, just look at this hundred of files just stressing the game!!! I managed to get rid of 310MB x.x
How to deep clean The Sims 3. 2020 (Massive lag reduction.)
Deep cleaning your game will help your game run faster it will also reduce lag and prevent sims and saves from going corrupt.
Programs. CC Magic. Ts3pe. Sims 3 multi pack extractor. Sims 3 Dashboard cc cleaner Advanced system care
Recommended file types. These files are much easier for your game to process and when managed properly much safer to use then .sims3packs. How are they safer? Well sims 3 packs cane become corrupt and its much more difficult to find a broken sims3pack. Another reason is some are affected by the sims 3 evil doll virus. .WORLD .Package
Tips to avoid save corruption. Never save over a save file. Always use save as option. Save often. Keep sim inventories empty. World adventures chest are famous for corrupting saves. Keep family inventory empty. Move family out and save them to library before saving.
Preventing the deletion of what is important to you. Place these folders in a new folder on your desktop. Label it TS3Backup or somthing similar. \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims\Downloads \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims\Mods \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims\Library \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims\Saved outfits \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims\Saved sims \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims\Saves This step insures that all of your saved sims saved games and familys are all there once you boot your game up again.
Creating new and clean game files for a smoother and less laggy game. 1 - Navigate to \Documents\Electronic Arts. Once you open your Electronic arts folder delete the folder labeled The Sims 3. 2 - Start launcher (Do not press play yet.) 3 - Enable expansions. 4 - Navigate to the TS3Backup folder created earlier place the folders you placed inside TS3Backup and move them to \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims. 4 - Install sims3packs via launcher. 5 - Delete files from DCBackup. 6 - Reapeat process as needed.
Deleting cache files. When you delete any or all of these files, as their nature is to regenerate, the next time you load Launcher or the game may take a bit longer as all these files need to be refreshed. This is normal and is by design.

Mod free ways to fix lag. Manage town population keep under 100. Babies kittens and puppies cause lots of lag. Houseboats, docks, dive locations, resorts and subways cause lots of lag.
Settings Turn off strays. Turn off lost horses. turn off supernaturals. Turn off interactive loading screens. Turn off memories. turn off lessions. Dont use lots from the store.

How many hours of your life do you think you’ve spent scouring the internet looking for CC / mods for Sims 3? I don’t even want to think about how much time I’ve spent doing that in all years that I’ve been playing…
Tumblr is great, don’t get me wrong… but when you’re looking for a specific type of CC, it can be…. well…. not fun. Tumblr is wonderful for following players and creators, but it’s not a CC search engine by any stretch of the imagination. Sure, you can hop from one “finds” account to another, but even that’s not efficient.
So I started thinking about this problem, and how it might be solved, and I kept thinking, “I wish there was a site where we could catalog and organize links to content all across the web.” Well hot damn… I’ve got an unlimited web hosting plan! When you see a need, fill it. So, I’m starting a Sims 3 CC & Mods link directory website.
The basic premise is that links to CC & Mods (to the creator’s original post or site, if possible) from every corner of the web can be organized by categories and tags. This enables users to drill down to specific types of content that they’re looking for, or just search for keywords or browse the categories to see what’s out there.
I think that’s a pretty cool idea and would be tremendously useful! And furthermore, the system I’m using enables users to submit links as well! Huzzah! I don’t have to do all of the work myself!
Additionally, it would serve to drive traffic to creators’ sites and introduce new players to their content. Hell… I’ve been playing Sims 3 since it came out and there are still “old” creators that I’m just now discovering…
Anyway… apologies for the long-winded post.
