On the subject of Alternative/Parralel Universes

I wonder if the Spyfall story or even the rest of the season will involve the topic of Alternative/Parallel universes.

When the Doctor decodes the alien message it shows the locations of the unknown spy aliens on earth, but not just this earth other earths. Alternative, parallel earths. 

The aliens want to take over the universe, but considering the alien map, could this mean they want to take over all the universe’s. All the different earths with different outcomes. 

The topic of Alternative universes has been brought up before in Doctor Who such as when The Tenth Doctor, Mickey and Rose materialised in a parallel world where Pete Tyler never died or how the Timelords said that Gallifrey would be stuck in another universe (Day of the Doctor).

Considering we have what appears to be a new Master, does he come from this universe or from another entirely different one. The Master has a  somewhat complicated timeline of regenerations and I wonder where this new Spymaster fits in. 

The last time we saw Missy she had “died” from her previous incarnation zapping her with his Laser Screwdriver and he was mortally wounded by her hidden blade, so it’s possible that Spymaster is an incarnation that appeared before Missy as we never saw a regeneration for the simm master.

But from the new Spyfall part 2 trailer it seems as if this new Spymaster has the never-ending DRUMS still (in the trailer the 4 beats can be heard one after another especially when he is bashing a button to it).

This completely confuses the Master timeline as the last time the drums were mentioned was in The End of Time Part 2 when it was revealed that Rassilon had embedded the drums in the Master’s head as a child in order to bring the end of days into motion. The Masters drums were connected to the White Point Star and once the Doctor destroyed it, it looked liked the drums were finally gone.

In the episode The Doctor Falls the Master seems to be drum free considering that he never mentions them again nor does he absent mindlessly tap out his rhythm of four. When he was taken back to Gallifrey it seems that they fixed him up and got rid of his “sickness”. Missy also doesn’t show signs of the drums so placing this new master is going to be damn difficult.

I wonder if this spymaster is from another universe where his drums were never removed. An alternative pathway, a different outcome.

I also have weird inkling that the unknown aliens could be the timelords from another universe, a universe where their genocidal mission of their species happened and they had become what they wanted to be, or rather what Rassilion wanted to become.

Rassilon: We will initiate the Final Sanction. The End of Time will come, at my hand. The rupture will continue until it rips the time vortex apart! The Master: That’s suicide! Rassilon: We will ascend, to become creatures of conciousness alone - free of these bodies, free of time, and cause and effect - while creation itself ceases to be.

Maybe in doing this the plan worked in their universe and so they are wanting to take over the other universes that exist. Maybe in travelling through different universes they met another version of the Master, who they could use to their advantage. Maybe they can’t be detected by the doctor because their species is not recognised in this universe. The Doctor can sense them, like how timelords can detect their own kind though smell but she doesn’t know what they are.

Graham: It’s coming through the wall! How can it do that?

Thirteen: “Well physical boundaries don’t stop it. It’s still not used to this planet, or maybe even this reality.”

Thirteen: So you can communicate, then. Beyond where?

Creature: Your understanding!

Thirteen: Is this your native form, wherever it is you’re from? Is this what you look like at home?

Creature: We are stable now. We are ready.

Thirteen: What does that mean, stable? Ready for what?

Creature: To take this.

Thirteen: To take this what? Hut? Country? Planet?

Creature: Universe.

Who knows maybe the character Daniel Barton is another version of the Master who’s part human part Timelord? Or the creatures are The Eternals? Or maybe I’m just trying to scrape the barrel for more ideas.

You know those things where you only find a fragment at first, and it sticks with you, makes you feel something you've forgotten or never have? And you never look for context, never need it, maybe you assume the fragment is it, that the sentence is complete. But then, completely by accident you find the fragments origin, its home when it's not nestled in you collarbones, not wrapped around your lackluster heart. And you find the home is just as magnificent, and all those feelings you felt the first time come washing back in a hundredfold. And then you explore the home, and the neighborhood, you find the architect and try to see everything his hands have constructed. And for just a little while, you get to be lost. And it's the most magnificent thing.

So. Now that I've started, I'm hoping all of this gets easier. So, firstly this blog is Lgbtqia+ friendly, please leave any and all discourse at the door, and if your a TERF or exclusionist do not interact. If I ever reblog anything that's yours or you know who it belongs to please let me know. I always want to give credit to the wonderful people behind things I like. Feel free to correct me if I use the wrong terms for something. I think I'm going to write here a little so feel free to send me prompts. I'll write mostly for good omens. Hope your years off to a good start!

So, I think elementary is perhaps my favorite Sherlock adaptation. Very underrated, and I highly, highly recommend.

the absolute best thing about elementary, besides the entirety of it, is sherlock's humanity.

he is not an arrogant asshole. he is not a "all of you shall bow before me." does he have moments where he acts superior and puts people down? yes. but it's never a fundamental part of his being. he is clever and skilled, yes, but it is not his personality. he isn't just excused to be an asshole. it's not just "oh that's sherlock, the complete dickhead." sherlock season 1 and sherlock season 7 are hardly the same person.

he admits his mistakes, hell, he fucking apologizes for them. he changes to be kind to people. his asshole arrogance is portrayed as a defense mechanism because he's so lonely. he learns to be kind. he learns to love and he learns to be polite for the sake of it. he hates marriage, hates it, absolutely hates it, but he buys an expensive glass of champagne for a man proposing to his girlfriend, people he doesn't know, without even hesitating. he comforts survivors of assault and does his best in being non-threatening whenever there's someone who is in a delicate state of mind. he helps a girl who lied to him (to put it mildly) chose a new name and identity, to move on. he helps a victim of assult get revenge. he is willing to frame a murderer to stop him from killing others. he solves murders because he thinks it's unfathomable not to.

he dates an autistic woman, and I'm not saying this in the "oh wow look he should be praised!" sort of way, i mean, he changes how he acts in order to make her more comfortable, he buys her a limited gift, he does things he isn't comfortable doing, like clearly stating his feelings, in order to make her feel better. he reassures her when she needs it.

sherlock cares. he so fundamentally cares, about people he doesn't know, about people he does. he threatens to kill his own brother if joan is even mildly hurt. he beats a man who hurt his friend, alfredo. he breaks the law in order to help friends of friends. he tries so hard to understand normal convention.

it isn't like the majority of sherlock's I've seen and read about. he deeply truly cares, he wants to be a part of functioning society, he helps because he can't imagine not doing it. he tries to express his care and concern for people and fails sometimes because he can't communicate with them.

it's kind of stated that he's possibly autistic and it fits in with his actions. his antisocial behavior isn't because he's a dick and thinks he's better than everyone, it's because there are so few he can express himself to, no matter how hard he tries.

he names a bee after watson. he calls her extraordinary and makes an effort to be kind to her.

he hates humanity, or he tries to, at least, but he loves people. he's tried to fit in, to be someone people could be friends with, and got rejected, and now that he's older, he's trying to help people from the outside, trying to connect with people in a different way. he's a tragic character in that sense, but it's shown, it's quite literally basically stated over and over, sherlock needs people.

he's desperate with it, really. he wants to talk to people but the majority don't understand or aren't willing to listen, so he finds shelter in other outcasts. he doesn't hate the people who don't understand him. he tries so hard to communicate with people.

and to sum this all up, here are some of the quotes im talking about.

It just so happens that people, with all the deceits and illusions that inform everything they do, tend to be the most facinating puzzles of all. a friend of sherlock's: You can't expect Sherlock Holmes to relate to you the way another person might. The moment you do, he'll migrate out of your life, and you'll be the poorer for it.

W: I'm pretty sure he's not going to show. S: And here you sit. W: I'll give him ten more minutes. If there's someplace else you have to be... S: Not tonight, Watson. Not tonight.

Sherlock, after joan thanks him for making her family understand her job as a sober companion: I simply told them what they wanted to hear. They're nice people, your family, but they are, at their core, conventional. You make an effort to appear conventional, but I know, Watson, that you share my love of all that is bizarre and outside the humdrum routine of ordinary life. Your family will never understand this, so I gave them some words that they would understand.

S: Realizing that you were in physical danger was difficult for me. If anything ever happened to you, I'm not sure I could forgive myself. W: Okay, this is not how you express concern for someone that you want to keep safe. Quite right, so I've reached out to a handful of martial artists who reside in the city, each one of them an expert in his or her fighting style. My hope is some combination of them will agree to train you.
