A Son of Ink Short Story: Thoughts of Him

Moonshine’s most clearest memory of him was a summers night…they were going out to eat.

“NO!” Screamed Moon Child as he sat in the corner, curled into a little ball.

“Moony, come on! We’ll be late!” Replied a voice, hidden behind a wall. Moonshine sat near the door and waited patiently for his brother and father.

“B-But I don’t want to go!” Cried the Moon Child, he looked up at his father with tear swollen eyes who just walked into the room. His father smacked his lips and smiled, crouching down all the way to Moon Child’s level.

“Awww, your beautiful eyes are swollen..here-“ he grabbed a handkerchief from his jacket pocket and lightly dabbed it onto the little Moon Child’s face, Moon Child soured and started turning away.

“MY EYES ARE NOT BOOTIFUL!”

His father ignored his cries and was able to wipe away his tears but new ones might form soon he thought.

“I know son, your scared of loud places but I promise you it’s gonna be fun! Besides, look at your brother! He’s growing impatient!” They both look at Moonshine, who is wearing his best clothes and bow tie and has a pouty look on his face, he crosses his arm to really hit home how impatient he’s getting.

Moon Child laughs a little and wipes away a newly formed tear. “Y-Yeah, your right daddy…c-can I bring John with me?” His father smiled and patted his head lovingly.

“Of course! Go get him bud.”

Moon Child smiles and quickly springs up and dashes off upstairs.

His father laughs but then hears a little “AHEM!” He turns to see Moonshine standing by the door, his chest puffed out and his little blue cheeks more bluer then usual. His father chuckles and comes over and crouches to Moonshines level…

“Yes Moonshine, your outfit is very VERY dashing! I’m so impressed by how well you tied your own little bow tie! All without me!” Moonshine smiled brightly, receiving such a declaration from his papa and a nice loving pat on the head.

/better then his brother like always, whose tie isn’t even on right…/

“I’m ready! And so is John!” Moon Child comes blazing down the stairs with one hand on the railing and the other on a small stuffed bear lovingly named, “John”.

“Great! Lets get going boys! Aunt Frances is waiting for us!” Replies their father as he takes Moonshines hand and then takes Moon Child’s, they walk out the door (and lock the door of course) and head out to a night of fun and delicious food.

Moonshine looks up at his papa.

“We gonna have fun, right Papa?” His dad looks down at Moonshine and smiles brightly, “Yes we are Moonshine! Yes we are!” They get in the car and ride off to a night of fun, food and playing…

…Moonshine looks in his mirror, seeing a handsome sexy man on the other side, he smiles and adjusts his brand new tie.

Father was right…he did look dashing. He looked over at his dresser to see a picture, a old yet colourful picture of a man. A man of fire, whose skin wasn’t blue but pure yellow, orange and even some red, his eyes orange and fierce yet inviting, he has a smile on his face and bouquet of flower in his gloved hands.

Moonshine grabbed the photo of the man and looked at the writing below..

“I wish you the bests of wishes my friend, I hope you get well soon! ~Love Adonis”

Adonis was his father….a father who taught him that looks can really get you far if you have enough charm.

He smirks and puts the picture down…he no longer recognizes himself as the little “Moonshine” his father lovingly called him…he is now known as the feared, respected boss of toon town..Mr Moon.

A man that would even make his father scared he thought.

He left his room, leaving behind a thought. What did Adonis think of him? And did he even care anymore…

Authors Note: I love this AU! So I decided to write my own little short story about what Mr Moon and Moon Man were like as kiddos! Along with a character of mine named Adonis!

Tales From The Stinky Dragon: Brink’s on the brink of…lOvE?

Brink always felt that he was different.

The day he found his magical abilities & was able to choose a familiar, he chose a snake over a normal familiar like a bird or a cat. He liked snakes…he related to them in a way, but when other magic users bullied him for just choosing a snake…Brink knew that he would never be able fully be one with himself and his weird…quirks.

Until he met Kyborg.

At first he was like every other loser Brink met, some bozo who dared challenged him and got his butt kicked as per usual but overtime…especially in Ürbloom that’s when his feelings for Kyborg began to feel…complicated.

He hated being around the elf & his dumb party, thinking them nitwits and the fighter (maybe the party too Brink didn’t pay no mind to them too much) made it known that they hated being around Brink too but…that somewhat changed when Brink spent time with Bart, Mud, GumGum & even Kyborg…the more he saw how…fun they were.

How unapologetic.

How messy.

How odd.

Or just how plain old dumb they were…they did it all with a smile.

Especially Kyborg…when Brink saw Kyborg smile at Mud after a failed attempt backflip, something in Brink’s heart just…fluttered.

At first he brushed it off as a mere attraction at the elves smile but the more he saw Kyborg express more then disgust…the more Brink fell for Kyborg smarminess…his confident personality…and that smile…oh that dazzling smile…it wasn’t because he had the smile of the gods oh heavens no Kyborg lived in a damn forest half his life but…the smile was HIS smile…so warm, so genuine so…

“NO! Trash can made it obvious…that-“ Brink paused and let his mind whirl a bit, his hand over his heart…Kyborg, when given the chance to smack down Brink with comebacks, he would absolutely take it in a heart beat which didn’t bother Brink, he liked it when his suitors had fire & vigour but when Kyborg brought up how Hannibal was captured. It brought Brink to tears…

He loved Hannibal. How could Kyborg do this to him, his…oh right…He only sees him as a rival.

Someone to chew on and spit out…

Someone to insult and to never love like how Kyborg lOVes & begs for Mud to smack his divine booty…Brink wondered…if he could ever smack Kyborg & his butt like how Mud does that with everyone in their party..?

Oh well….Brink chalked up his feelings as a mere crush waiting to die out but…at least he could enjoy it as much as he could~

I remember when my child was young they would say “Some day father, I will see the world!” I always told them they would if their heart so desired and if they had the drive, they really could.

What I couldn’t bare was my child leaving. I begged them to stay, that it wasn’t their fight. They said to me they were but eighteen-

“Some day father, I will return and when I do I would’ve seen the world…someday father, I will come back to you.”

They got on Buttercup, their favourite mare…and rode off with their solider friend to fight the monster that started this unholy war.

I cried like I have never cried before then..I waited. I hoped each day since then that my child would return, I dressed my best clothes and worked like I haven’t worked before to make the farm spotless for them to come home…

It was three years. Three years since I’ve seen them. No word on from their end but from what I heard it’s very much the same for many others…I hoped my child wasn’t killed…I prayed I wouldn’t loose another. I just wanted something, anything.

I didn’t receive word until a letter came.

The letter said that the war with the king was over…he was proclaimed dead. The war was done and my child would finally return home in three days time.

So I prepared, I made up their room, a room I haven’t stepped in for at least a year. I washed everything down, I prepared everything I can on the farm of animals and apple trees and on the final day…made my child apple pie.

Then…over the horizon of my farm where the sun peaked over each morning…I saw a dark knight ride on a nightmarish horse at the crack of dawn.

The armour the knight wore was dark as night that shimmered purple everytime they moved, the horse they rode was nothing I have never seen, a horse from hell with red bleeding eyes and a mane that was of hell fire.

The knight rode until they stopped in front of me and spoke with a deep voice…

“Branton Noor? Farmer of Evrin Acres?”

“Y-Yes?…That is me.”

The figure jumped off their horse and towered over me, they were as tall or even more tall as my solider child…

Their helmet hid their face. They said no words until they finally spoke with power-

“Branton Noor, I am Cosima, the son of Queen Ofara and Royal Ezlis Noor. I am your grandson here to bring you back to the Netherworld where the rulers await you…at your new home.”

My eyes popped out of my sockets in that moment. All I could muster to say to the tall figure was-

“Apple pie? …You must be tired…come on in, we can talk more inside.”

I waddle to my house and see in the corner of my eye that the knight follows closely behind me…

Oh my goodness…what just happened? Is this real? Am I hallucinating? One moment I was waiting word that they have died or worse…became another person but this? I HAVE A GRANDSON AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW?!

This…This was definitely not what I expected.

Your son/daughter has been gone for 3 years, fighting the campaign against the demon king as the head of the royal knights. You a humble farmer now have received a letter that the war has ended and now they are coming back to visit you.

“My king…you are to do…NOTHING?”

“Yes.”

“BUT…WHAT?! This…This prophecy child is said to dethrone you! Take all that was yours and kill you! This child threatens your power and you are to do nothing!? NOTHING?!”

“Well my dear friend…a wise figure once said that one often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it. Destiny, fate, the will of the gods or people call for my downfall when the child is ready, why fight? Why not…let them try.”

“Try?”

“I mean I’m not gonna lay down like a dog and yield but I’m not gonna go out and bite each child I see either. Instead I will wait, observe and see what happens when the so proclaimed time has come…for now I ask that we call off the engagement with Queen Larissa…gods only knows that woman will kill anyone who delivers such news so maybe she can make my death quicker and easier.”

“B-But your majesty, you imply supposedly! So that can mean there’s a chance you could-“

“Better safe then sorry now! I will tell the Queen myself of this news, for now…go.”

“What?! What do you-“

“Go relax…go home and read that book you’ve been telling me about. I will handle the rest.”

“But-“

“That’s an order.”

“Yes…yes your majesty.”

“…Finally….Salvation.”

The king, after hearing the prophecy about a child fated to depose them, decided to just let the events play out without interfering.

Hera: Axel, darling we’re all out of chips & dip for tonight! Would you like to come with me to-

Zeus: …Hera.

Hera: …Zeus.

Axel:

“I’m sorry I’m dating, who?!” You say in shock. You just found out your girlfriend was the greek goddess Hera, how? By her ex husband Zeus arriving at your door and threatening you to give her back. This is going to be a long day…
