How responsible to mention mental health. Some people are pretty anxious around here. Thanks.

Tumblr,

As you’re probably aware, the coronavirus disease, or COVID-19, has now been found in countries all over the globe. This is an understandably disconcerting moment for many, but there are steps we can all take to help mitigate the effect on our communities.

COVID-19 is spreading, but misinformation and disinformation are spreading even faster. The most responsible thing you can do is protect yourself from both the disease and false information. Being prepared with facts and data instead of assumptions and fabrications will help inform how you can best prepare for COVID-19.

Here are some resources you can trust:

WHO provides daily updates surrounding COVID-19’s spread, infection rate, and general influence on our society. Their latest update given on March 3, 2020, details that there is a shortage of personal protective equipment for healthcare professionals. They also provide a very handy FAQ section, where you can learn more about how to protect yourself and your community.

Every day Worldometer updates its website with the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in each country that has been affected. Worldometer has been rated one of the best free reference websites by the American Library Association, and for good reason: it lists every single one of its regular sources here, and lists the source of every COVID-19 update at the bottom of the COVID-19 page.

Your local health department will often have the most up-to-date information specific to your immediate area, including how to proceed if you believe you may be showing symptoms of the virus. If you live in the United States, you can find the contact information for your health department by visiting the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO).

There’s another thing about this news that a lot of places are not talking about: the toll on one’s mental health, especially if you are someone who struggles with anxiety. If you find your concerns about being prepared are crossing a line that affects your mental health, please consider reaching out to a loved one who can guide you to help, a mental health professional, or an organization set up to help those in need.

Here are a couple of organizations you can trust:

Crisis Text Line is free, 24/7 support. Just text 741741 from anywhere in the United States. The Crisis Text Line will connect you with a trained Crisis Counselor.

National Alliance on Mental Health (@namiorg) offers free support and resources for those who are struggling. NAMI can be reached Monday through Friday, 10 am - 6 pm EST at 1-800-950-NAMI (6264) or by email at info@nami.org.

Take care of yourselves, Tumblr. Wash your hands well, practice keeping a safe distance from others, only wear a mask if you believe you are sick with COVID-19 symptoms and could infect others (or are immunocompromised yourself), and remember to fact check everything that you see. Head on over to @world-wide-what for a refresher on what fake news looks like and how it spreads. Pass those tips onto others when you see them accidentally spreading false information.

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Sherlock (TV) Rating: Explicit Warnings: Rape/Non-Con Relationships: Sherlock Holmes/James Moriarty Characters: Sherlock Holmes, John Watson, James Moriarty, Mycroft Holmes Summary:

After the pool incident. Sherlock tells John of how he knew James Moriarty in his youth when he was his...benefactor.

Excerpt:

“The third time that I met James Moriarty, I was twenty. I was standing on a street corner in tattered jeans and an old jacket. University hadn't agreed with me. Not after I started taking drugs to numb the aftermath of a bad love affair. I know, you're shocked. You don't see me as the kind of person who has love affairs. I don't. Not anymore.

"I was in danger of getting expelled from Uni, and Mycroft exploded. He put a freeze on my funds. Told me that I wouldn't get another penny until I improved my performance there. I told him where to shove it. I spent my nights on the couches of people I knew, until I wasn't welcome anywhere. I was so bored and lonely that I went to bars and let men buy me drinks only to pickpocket them when they were drunk and use the money to buy cocaine. I was high, and bored, and desperate, wondering where I was going to sleep that night. Wondering if I knew anyone else who might give me enough for another hit when a car stopped beside me.

"I remembered him, vaguely. He certainly remembered me. I climbed inside. I often think back to that moment. I could have walked away, and everything would have been different. If I had simply walked away, that woman might never have died, and you might not have been taken. Then again, who knows what Moriarty would have done. Needless to say I did climb into the car. That fact can't be changed.

Devil John

Devil John

Chapter 2 - Hell

Fandom: Sherlock

Rating: Explicit

Summary: John is dead, but that’s not the end for him. Not when he has a soul left to corrupt.

Excerpt:

The room is dark, illuminated by a bare yellow incandescent light hanging down from a pale cord that has been tied in a hangman's noose. Light pools around his feet in a circle fading away into blackness. The world outside of this little circle of light is darker than a starless night, blacker than a coal mine.

Along the wall, he sees small black spiders scurrying around. They sit just outside the circle of light. Their red eyes glowing, their bodies hidden in obscurity.

“Back with us now are you, Johnny?” sings a voice with an Irish accent. “It's about time.”

John watches as Moriarty walks slowly toward him, defiling the circle of light with his very presence. He's wearing the Westwood now, under a black knee-length coat with a blood red lining. His eyes bore into John's naked flesh and he sneers.

John looks down. There are scars on his hairy chest. His bullet wound from Afghanistan is back now. He pushes to his feet, not wanting to show such vulnerability to an enemy. His back scrapes against the coarse wall and starts to bleed.

“Moriarty! This is the kind of thing that I'd expect of someone like you. I knew it had to be a trick. Where are we, and why are you holding me here?”

Moriarty rolls his head back with a sigh. Then he stomps around in a tiny circle bobbing his head from side to side in frustration as he cries, “Hell and Devils! Are we back to that again, Johnny Boy? I SO hate repeating myself.” Moriarty whips his head around to glare at John as he yells. “WHERE ARE WE?”

His voice hits John like a slap, and he falls to his knees.

“Now Johnny boy, Tell me WHERE! WE! ARE!”

“In Hell,” John says quietly.
