Percy is used to spending his nights alone. Sally would often have to work late, Gabe would disappear at night with no warning, and he never had any siblings of his own to share a room with. The only time he really had to share a room with someone was with Grover and Yancy, and even he would vanish and make excuses on where he had gone. Cabin 3 might be big and a bit lonely sometimes, but Percy is no stranger to being alone.

Thalia hates being alone, and even worse, sleeping alone. She's a big sister, and she's used to hearing laughter and whispering stories long into the night. Being alone makes her feel sick; all she can think about is the horrible time between Jason’s disappearance and finding Luke. Cabin 1 feels empty and cold, and every time she tries to close her eyes, she feels like she’s going to die all over again.

Annabeth is a lot better than me because if my older brother told me he literally poisoned the only connection to my dead sister and then accused me of being the one in the wrong, I'm pushing him off his damn yacht. No hesitation.
