About The One Time Error Met Dream Long Enough To Talk.

About the one time Error met Dream long enough to talk.

A short fic, set in Yet Another Battle's pre-fic world.

Error and Dream need to stop meeting like this.

Not ship whatsoever. Also, remember that Dream and Error's opinions are entirely biased. Some may argue that Ink's actions were justified considering Error's own actions.

Error laid on his side, looking bored as hell, staring straight ahead.

Ink had apparently "caught" him earlier, using creator-knows-what secret technique, tied him all up in black painted-on tape, and was called up in whatever other universe he was needed in. Of course, he'd hopped by the universe Dream was in, gave him a key and asked the star Sanses' golden boy to come look over his captive for him.

Unfortunately for Dream, he was interrupted mid-dinner, and had to excuse himself from Blue's company, who laughed and told him to take some food along as he went. So, here he was now, uncomfortable, staring at a man who was resolutely not staring back.

"WhY aRE yOu HerE.", he said, and it was almost like he was disappointed Ink wasn't here himself. Dream actually didn't really know what to answer to that.

"Uh...I guess because Ink asked me to?"

Those heterochromic eyes narrowed at nothing, and Error gave one of those mocking-yet-oddly-shaky grins only he could pull off.

"VoiD DAMn. InK MaKEs ChiLDren dO HiS DIrTY worK, nOw?"

"Wh- I'm not a child. I've just got....young-looking bones."

"AnD I'M a GOd. To EAch THeIr sTRUgGle."

In anyone else's mouth, that would've sounded like a joke, but Dream knew better. Error only joked around when he felt the need to throw witty one-liners at Ink during battle. He usually didn't even talk to the rest of them, just levelled a glare at them like they weren't even worth the effort of fighting them.

He gave a "tssk", and struggled (kind of like a worm, which was funny but Dream didn't laugh) to sit up.

"So. WhAT doEs He WAnT ThiS TimE?", Error asked, face straight, unbothered. "tO kILl Me?"

Dream sputtered in surprise, shaken by the very notion.

"What! of course not, we don't--we don't kill--!" The word even felt foreign on his tongue, and Dream couldn't help himself but to sadden. Of course Error would expect to be killed. He'd done so much evil himself, too.

What would be the alternative, though? To keep him like this, locked up, prisoner of a small room in Ink's currently chosen home? Forever? That was a fate Dream didn't even want to imagine, his compassionate soul whimpering a complaint at the mere notion. He shook his head, as Error continued.

"iT WouLDn'T BE thE FirST tIMe.", he said, detachedly, as though he'd watched that particular episode of his life on a TV. just, simply, a telenovella episode, with a gruesome end and more magic-blood budget than a stephen king movie adaptation. Dream choked on his words, plate sliding out of his grasp to tumble on the floor, smashing on impact.

But that...that didn't make any sense, did it?

Error narrowed his eyes, grinning. Guess the apple kid didn't exactly hear that part of the story.

....Ink did mention to Dream that Error was immortal, before. How would he have found out, if not by....trying? Eyeing the shattered plate, Error inched ever so closer to Dream (though he abhorred the thought of being even close.)

"guESs He dIDn'T TeLL yOu. YoU'Ve sEEn hOw HE geTS wiTh REd PaiNT?"

"yes, but! he wouldn't hurt anyone. Not really,", Dream insisted, tightening his empty hands and digging his fingertips into the soft fabric of his gloves. "Never enough to kill. Besides, you're still alive right now."

"I alREadY KnEw I CoULdn'T DiE PRoPERly. He DIdn'T. I brOKe His BrUSh, hE doWNed tHE boTTle."

Error, ever the smart cookie, set his hands on the ground. Hanging on his every words, Dream didn't exactly notice a piece of ceramic vanish into his palms.

"SmAShED mY fuCKiNG hEAd iN WiTH a ROck."

Color drained from Dream. He looked shocked, and utterly disgusted by the idea of such a thing happening. Well, Error could understand that, kind of. Dream had always held Ink in much too high a regard.

"He wouldn't," he insisted with a half-voice.

"iT DOesN't MAttEr wHAt yoU ThInK He wOUld anD WOulDN'T DO. You'Re a PAwn AnYwAYS. He dOEsn'T LOve YOu."

"No....no, you're wrong. It can't possibly--"

Dream never had a chance to finish his sentence, as blue strings erupted from Error's newly freed hands to loop around Dream. Error snickered as he left, leaving Dream tied up just like he was (after, of course, calling him a sucker and an idiot.) The problem being- Dream knew that if Ink remembered, he'd feel bad. But did Ink even apologize for that? Was there a universe where I'm sorry would fix this? Dream, slowly but surely- began doubting the skeleton who he thought was a hero. It didn't even matter if Error lied.

Thinking in absolutes was the one thing that would lead to Dream's downfall, eventually.

Sorry, I almost didn't see your request there! I just changed blogs, is why I'm posting this here. Hopefully you like it.

Dear diary, today I found a wild bitty on the street. It was all tangled up in some kind of web (I was lucky, I didn't even SEE a spider). I went back home in a hurry to bring back scissors and cut it free (I didn't want to tug because they went all around its little soul and I was afraid I would break it).

The little bitty (I was told it's a Sans type) passed out before I could set it free again, so I wrapped it up in a blanket and rushed the little thing to the vet. They said it didn't look injured, just dehydrated and a tiny bit starve. They also said the soul was kind of intact, but it had a high LV which made it dangerous. I don't know about all that, it just seemed scared to me. I refused (obviously) the offer to put it down and brought it home with me since it SHOULD be safe to keep it (I hope).

I've been trying to talk to it, but it doesn't want to respond and it bites my hand if I get too close. So far, the only thing I've figured out is that it likes ketchup. I think I'm going to keep it, if I can figure out its name.

The Inktobertale/Inktale Challenge Originates From The Mix Of Inktale And October.

The Inktobertale/Inktale challenge originates from the mix of Inktale and October.

The challenge consists of drawing a prompt with Ink!Sans either every day during the month of October, or during the highlighted days for a more condensed "weekly" challenge.

Any medium is welcome for this challenge, including writing.

This theme was created and voted as an Ink!Sans challenge, since there are a lot of other Undertale monthly challenges. The Inktale challenge/Inktobertale focuses solely on the character of Ink!Sans. You are free to make Ink!Sans interact with other characters.

You are free to skip, swap, or alternate days as you like. You can also do it digitally. Feel free to swap between different challenges! The point is to have fun and experiment this month, so make this challenge a fun experience! The use of AI is strictly prohibited.

The new addition from 2022’s Inktobertale is an alternative "weekly" challenge! The second list is a suggestion for people who would like to try a different pace, with roughly one drawing every few days. You're totally free to swap with other prompts if some speak to you better for this list as well.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me! If you want more answers, browse the #inktobertaleasks tag!

Tag your artwork as #inktobertale2024!

even I got offender and I don't know who tf the anon was talking about....

Im not prev but it probably wasn’t Spooks fic, I’ve read it and it was pretty good/interesting even if her pacing was a little wonky at times and she don’t update very often. It was probably somewon else. I know I’ve seen another one where they used pantheon, a onshot on Ao3 i think? It was pretty dark, with heavy gore themes and mind fuckery. Spook’s fic… tries to be scary n suspenseful but idk if she do it very well tbh. No hate against her ofc, it just feels out of placeingly self indulgent.? Like Nightmare would not act like that lol, yknoe? She’s gotten odly popular despite that tho, so kudus to her. I think her fics called ‘monsters of the dark’ or smth idk. I keep tryn to give her advise but she don’t answer despite saying she always answers asks, pretty odd if youd ask me🤔

Anyway love your AU and all the original ideas you got, long time fan👋 keep up the good work man. We need better writers like youself 💪🔥

-long fan anon 💥

anon... for signing your message with "long time fan", i have to admit, it seems like you've had a critical misunderstanding about me and how i feel about storytelling. i'm not mad, but since you brought this to my inbox looking for my opinion, i'm going to give it to you:

1: fandom is a hobby. it is amateur in the truest sense of the word - someone who does something for free simply because they love to do it. none of us are getting into publishing houses, and furthermore, that level of quality is very rarely achievable by only one person.

2: as i said here more in-depth, the thing that makes our stories truly unique is the fact that they're self-indulgent. your own preferences and interests are the most unique thing you bring to the table; if you're not using them, you're just hashing out someone else's interests using disney's dryass 3-step "guaranteed-to-sell" formula. and to be frank, regurgitating that formula ad-fucking-nauseam is a one-way ticket to the worst sin a story can possibly achieve, far more than being boring, clichéd, derivative, repetitive or badly-written: being soulless.

3: my version of nightmare is no more canon or "correct" or "in-character" than hers or anyone else's. in fact, if you want to talk about in-character, joku has stated that NM is a "thing", not a person - so by joku's canon, anyone who portrays him in any sort of sympathetic light at all is portraying him "incorrectly". and to be quite frank... i find that horrifically boring. if someone wants to make him sickeningly sweet, of course, i would personally prefer if i could see how he got from point A to point B... but ultimately, if it's not my story, why should i give a damn if it suits my tastes? it's like going to a fucking bakery and complaining about the cakes being all lemon flavored when you yourself are a baker. you can just go make your own cake!!

4: "I keep tryn to give her advise but she don’t answer" - did your advice sound anything like this ask, anon? because even i got offended reading it, and the fic isn't even mine. and far more importantly, did they ask for critique? if the answer is yes - which i doubt - did you then ask questions to find out what they wanted to achieve with their own story and give them advice to help them reach that goal? because if someone asks for critique and you respond by trying to transform the story into something you like, that's bad critique etiquette - as is, far more importantly, giving unsolicited critique to works that aren't asking for it at all.

5: cruelty ≠ critique. as i said above, to critique a work is to attempt to help the author reach their goals. no matter someone's skill level, there's always going to be something about their work that you don't personally like - and using that as fuel to be disparaging to the artist is not critique, it's cruelty. ten tantita pinche madre, man, christ

6: "she don’t update very often" - this is fandom, anon. tiktok's fast fashion treatment towards media nowadays is not indicative of how fandom really works. undertale is, what, 8 years old, now? and we're all still here for love of skeletons. what do you expect people to be doing to survive in all that time? photosynthesizing? i'd be fascinated to meet them if that was true - but personally, i have to work to get money to eat. and before that, i had to go to school or else get thrown in juvie. people've got shit to do, man.

7: "It was probably somewon else", "She’s gotten odly popular despite that tho" - if their work has gotten really popular, there's probably a reason. and not to elevate english to an undeserved standard when it's such a shit language, but i imagine - going out on a limb here - it probably has something to do with her being able to use spellcheck.

and finally, 8: in the time it's taken me to answer this ask, you have sent me MORE asks pressuring me to answer you faster. that shit does not fly on my blog, anon, and especially not after you already admitted to harassing the writer in question with unwanted, bad-form "critique" of their work. i am not so goddamn oblivious or passionate about my own interests to not notice that you're trying to use me as a soapbox, which further makes your tag as "long time fan" ridiculous - because i have made my stance on harassment quite clear.

"but keegan, you critique things all the time!", i hear you saying. "what makes your critiques so much better, huh?"

well, the thing is, anon, even if i express frustration with the original stories not going the way i had hoped they would, my worldbuilding posts are still not critiques of their source materials because i'm not going to the authors of these stories and trying to help them reach their own goals, NOR am i taking my own desires for the work and making it the author's fucking problem. instead, i'm sat over here in my own little corner doing my own thing, and furthermore regularly clarifying to the people who like my worldbuilding that my feelings on the author's work is quite positive, in fact, despite whatever qualms might drive me to take my own fanfictions in a different direction. and as a matter of fact, a significant part of the reason i made multiverse tau an au in the first place was because i knew my own vision for these characters was going to deviate so harshly from the goals their creators had expressed, and i specifically wanted to go out of my way to avoid causing confusion. i did NOT want people taking my portrayals of these characters, conflating them with the originals, and then going to make that the creator's problem. multiverse TAU is an AU where i take whatever nitpicky bullshit nothingburgers that plague my mind and i do whatever i want with them, and in doing so, ironically, i'm doing a fine job of minding my own damn business.

in short: please do not bring critique of other people's work into my inbox, and furthermore please do not admit to me that you've been harassing people, and furthermost PLEASE do not harass ME when i don't jump the gun to agree with you on the matter. again: i have made my stance on harassment abundantly clear. you are creating problems for yourself because you have nothing better to do with your life - your time (and mine, AND theirs) would be much more pleasantly spent if you could manage to find some sort of constructive hobby, instead.
