CONTINUED TALE

Asgore can't do it. He just can't bring himself to kill children. Instead, he asks Sans, Gaster's child and the new Judge, telling him that's what the role entails. Sans isn't convinced, he really isn't. But then a child falls in the underground, he goes to meet them and- and- He didn't mean to. He swear, he didn't mean to.

The LV is already in his system, though, the soul absorbed.

It was an accident.

The next one wasn't slain by Sans, but by Undyne, and the soul was lost forever as it wasn't collected in time.

Except, Sans is getting sick, and sicker, and sicker some more, because he's not a boss monster, he's not made to harbour more than one soul and the human's is consuming his own, slowly, agonizingly. Alphys can't help, so Asgore has another, worse idea: he gives Sans more Souls. Sans doesn't want them, but hey, if he's gonna die anyway, might as well try to keep the rest of the monsters alive. He tries not to think about the kids.

He now has three souls in his system, two kids escaped, one kid is plain dead, and a seventh falls in the underground. Sans dies, and finds out he can actually continue from his last save point...

Undertale doesn't exactly touch on those ideas of specism, the monsters are accepted outside, the humans are beloved on the inside.

Though, when you have "there was a war, people A and people B are majorly upset at each other, people A lock people B in a giant cave to die", I mean....there's really uh. That context to take in. I think if it's done well and in an AU that deviates HEAVILY from the original take, then sure, fine, go ahead.

The problem is that often it's not well done, because simply- the people making content aren't professional writers and artists, they're just (mostly) regular peeps who often bite off more than they can chew, and it leaves everyone with a bitter taste in their mouths.

When you have Sans go through a genocide, be fought against relentlessly by a murderous child, and then do a pacifist, escape to the surface, then Sans will quite naturally be just a smidge anxious around that same child, won't he? trauma and whatnot. however I don't think making Sans have a bias against humans forever and ever is stupid :')

Transcript: As a black person in the utdr fandom it really weirds out me when people claim the monsters in undertale are "racist". Honestly just typing this gives me a really uneasy feeling thinking about it all. White people who don't have any proper knowledge to be talking on situations like this and entirely missing the point of what's going on, to the point where it feels almost intentional. Saying this on here rather than my own blog because I don't know how people would react if I said stuff like this, I rb posts like this but I don't really have experience talking about them myself

  Summary:

"I'm... you're still my baby brother. I have to protect you." His voice is firm, now, the smile is gone. The apple in his hands beckon. "From yourself too, if I have to." His hand raises- and he bites the apple. Not once, like Nightmare had, not twice- three full bites, before his beloved sibling could even react.

 When Dream Shatters, Nightmare is thrown into a spiral of events orchestrated by the creators. Why is it his job to save a multiverse that hates him? Bitter- he gets to work, collecting strays along the way, before the creators (or his brother) get a chance to steal his new-found comfort from him.

Meanwhile, things go from bad to worse for Ink, who's best friend has suddenly changed personalities, and everything he knows about the multiverse collapses when he meets the envoys of the gods.
