I had this one in the sketches for who knows how long and didn't really know what to do with it, so I slapped some colours and angst on it

You said your favourite thing was Eli's abilities to ignore reality. Can you elaborate on what you mean? Some examples?

I think him in vegenful when he was at EON is a great example of how inside his own head Eli can be, he just seems to convince himself that he's right and nothing will ever stop him, like, yes keep talking to the "ghost" even after connecting that he was alive, do it! delusion at it finest.

I think this might be one of the most striking traits of his character and how he reasons things, a lot of people just hate him for how he called the cops on Victor and if you just try to follow his vision it makes sense! come with me for this one.

- I feel strange after becoming a EO, like something is missing, apathy and emptiness, loss of fear, so I try to "protect" the only person I consider a friend, this person kills my girlfriend and lies to me even after I saying it shouldn't be done like that, I call the police, he comes back and stabs me, and uses his power on me, confirming my "suspicions" that EOs are in fact inherently evil and wrong I no longer recognize my best friend as himself but rather a "devil" who is using his body. -

at the end of the day I think a lot of Eli is how he rationalizes and tries to fit together pieces of a narrative that doesn't go against him being exposed as wrong or as monstrous, or not holy, for various reasons, being a martyr? maybe his general relationship with religion and how he sees himself as a person? What he knows is that he can't be wrong, it can't be true, if he's wrong what would become of him? Then god hates him, and god doesn't hate him. if he can't die. There's a reason. It has to be one.

"Wouldn’t You?” He cut deeper, through to bone, over and over, until the floor was red. Until he’d given his life to God a hundred times, and a hundred times had it given back. Until the fear and the doubt had all been bled out of him. And then he set the knife aside with shaking hands. Many people wonder, why does he kill other EOs if he himself is one, doesn't he consider himself unnatural too? when in fact it is more he has convinced himself that he is different and that this has a purpose! he clearly doesn't like being an EO and appears to admit that he would kill himself if he could, he literally tried too, but if he can't then this has to be something bigger than him right? he can't be a sinner, against God's nature, God obviously has a mission for him! Because God loves him.

Anyway, I just wanted to give a bigger picture of how I think Eli works as a character, I think too much about this guy, sorry for the delay in responding, and thanks for the question!

I started putting together a playlist for m-1 jimmy, which means I’ve started thinking… a lot about empires jimmy. I’ve always had far too many emotions about how jimmy’s treated, but finally putting it to music has done irreparable things to me, I think. So anyway… some drawings to Gang of Youths’ Achilles Come Down.

The hardest thing about drawing to this song was finding characters who would could reasonably represent the verses of the song that are supposed to be encouraging and loving. So. Take that as you will.

There is a fic (about a fandom i am not part anymore) about a young trans girl figuring out she is trans and coming out to her brother and it just aways hits home

In the fic there is a moment she is explaining to her brother why lesbians are cool and she says "have you never wished to love girls the away girls do?" And it spoke with me. It bring back a memory i didn't remember having

Twelve years old me, that would just lie there thinking and dreaming and wanting something they couldn't shape yet

To want to love boys the away boys do and don't understand why

Because i would read about two boys and know there's something there that i just wants so bad. Being a boy wasn't even a option on my mind and i already liked boys, so there had to be something magical and special about the away boys loved each other

God i wish i could tell little me that we do it now. We love boys that love boys. We got to love boys the away that boys do. And twelve years old me was fucking right, it do have something magical on it.

WHAT IS IT WITH SKIZZ AND THE NUMBER 3???

What about the fact that he’s died 3rd every single series he’s been in? Yep, both in 3rd life and in last life, this man died third. And in the exact same way too, foolishly charging into the enemy with no plan other than bloodshed. Which fails.

What about the fact that he missed Double Life, the 3rd season of the Life Series??

What about the fact that because he missed Double Life, he’s been apart of 3 seasons of the Life series???

AND NOW. WHAT ABOUT THE FACT THAT IN SESSION 1 OF LIMITED LIFE, HE DIES 3 TIMES IN THE FIRST SESSION????

LIKE WHAT IS HIS DEAL??? WHY IS HE SO HAUNTED BY THE NUMBER 3??? HOW DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING????

And I mean, he’s usually portrayed as an Angel in fanart. and 3 is considered a holy number. The Rule of 3, the Trinity, and its symbolism in numerology… (yes that’s a thing. don’t ask me how I know.) It all ties together. And it ties together to the man whose heart is too big for his head. To the man who, despite all the flair, has never killed in anything but self-defense, in the service of another. To the guy whose entire schtick so far in Limited Life is not to kill, but to appreciate the time he has and the people he’s around. To the guy who’s drawn as an angel.

I KNOW THIS SOUNDS LIKE A CONSPIRACY THEORY AND IT MIGHT BE BUT LIKE, YOU SEE IT DON’T YOU??? THE PATTERNS???? IT’S INSANE. I DON’T GET IT.

Now idk what you could do with this as like a design thing. Could have like a third wing sticking out of his neck so he’d have 3 wings? Could have a halo with 3 rings? Idk man, I ain’t the artist, but I feel like there’s potential here.

Could also have Dove symbolism? Y'know, doves and angels, doves usually being associated with peace and Skizz having a very nonviolent and more negotiating approach. I mean he spared both Scar and Bdubs in 3rd Life, he chose mercy when really, he could have killed them together with the Red Army. And after Skizz dies is always when everything goes to true shit. After his death came the final battles of Dogwarts in 3rd life. After his death, the Wither was summoned in Last Life and everything fell into slowly decaying chaos. First goes the canary, the first warning that time has run out. Second goes an innocent other, to hammer in that there’s no return. And to complete the rule of 3, the dove follows the canary. The death of peace, a final warning. That now there will be no more.
