My heart is gone

Sanemi Shinazugawa was born at the end of autumn, on the day when winter leaves.

Sanemi Shinazugawa was born on the day when winter stepped onto the land and kissed him on the top of his head, dyeing his hair the whiteness of snow.

Sanemi was born when the cold enveloped Japan, leaving no room for the weak, and little Sanemi, who did not even cry in his mother's arms when she could not feed him at times, survived. His thirst for life, for light, was stronger than any frost and bone-chilling wind when he was still a baby.

♡ husband!sanemi who just grits his teeth and takes it while you beat his ass for being mean to genya, dragging him away by the ear as you berate him loud enough for the entire house to hear.

♡ husband!sanemi who doesn’t hold back on you in pillar training, knowing you can take it. he just wants to make sure you’re at your best. he can’t have you slacking off in the field, y’know?

♡ husband!sanemi who patches you up quietly by the fire at night after he’s beat your ass in training all day. his touch is gentle now, fingers ghosting over your bruises and wrapping bandages around your cuts. if it’s really bad, he’ll kiss you better. 

♡ husband!sanemi who fights to get you on missions together so he can look out for you, but if he can’t, will kiss you good luck and tell you he loves you before you leave. 

♡ husband!sanemi who waits at the door for you to come back, keeping dinner warm on the stove, and sprints across the lawn when he sees the outline of your form coming up the hill to the wind estate. 

♡ husband!sanemi who keeps the letters you write him while you’re away in a box in the closet, and reads them when he misses you (he’ll die before admitting this much). 

♡ husband!sanemi who, with your help, finally manages to begin mending his relationship with his younger brother. who stops, arms full of food, in the doorway when he sees you and genya sitting at the table together during dinner, laughing and eating. who is overwhelmed by the love he has for his little family, and who would fight with everything he has to protect it.

I can't help but think about the connection between the elements in the Breathing styles.

I just often observe and participate in how strong and solid the connection between water and air is, how they intertwine with each other, it's an undeniable power and beauty.

I'm tormented by thoughts about… What if neither Sanemi nor Giyu had suffered so much from their past, if everything had turned out differently?

Their pain and loss exposed the dangerous and wild sides of their elements. Wind can be a monstrous destructive force, just as Water can be indifferent to any life. Sanemi is prickly and furious like a damn hurricane. Giyu is like a dark rain, washing away your soul and any feelings.

But…

Their connection could have been different.

Not just joint sparring, during which Shinazugawa would try in every way to hurt, wound and injure the Hashira of Water, no, it could have been warm smiles. Tenderness and affection from both sides. Like a gentle breeze, giving comfort after the heat and pushing you forward from behind. A gentle touch of life-giving moisture that washes away any worries from you.

I cry, imagining Sanemi smiling that same sincere childish smile, laughing softly, while Giyu looks at him with his dark blue eyes, in which life has not faded, which sparkle like sunbeams on the surface of water…

SORRY, I'M TOO STUCK IN THISSSS

My therapist once told me to do an exercise where I drew my emotions and feelings of choice in circles. So, I drew the feeling of love and safety as a body wrapped in the embrace of many snakes. Strangely, it still feels safe and loving to me, and I might try this exercise again, many years later.
