you rested your head against jay's shoulder while he flipped through tons of movies. it was a rainy day, which meant nothing to do. jay suggested a cuddle time and you immediately agreed.

you closed your eyes and listened to the rain hit the windows and hit the floor. it was quite soothing.

jay had finally found a movie to watch so you opened your eyes. the movie started off kind of slow so you closed your eyes again. suddenly jay shifted and started to move away from you.

"what are you doing?" you asked. "i'm going to pop some popcorn, i'll be right back." you nodded and layed your head back on the couch.

you watched the movie for a couple of seconds but then jay's phone started ringing. you quickly searched for his phone until you found it. you didn't recognize the number so you declined the call but when you did you noticed jay's wallpaper.

you stared at it for a moment. a smiled crept on your face as you looked at the picture on his screen. it was a picture of you. it was your birthday the day the picture was taken. jay had put icing on your face and took a picture of you.

you stared at his screen for a while. joy and happiness spread through your body. you didn't expect him to have you as his wallpaper but knowing he did had you feeling very loved.

at your very random question, jungwon turned to you, giving you a funny look as he furrowed his brows.

“baby,” he started, taking his hand and placing it on your leg, caressing his thumb softly over your lower thigh. “what kind of question—“

“i know it might sound weird, but just answer the question,” you said, trying to sound serious as you tried to hold back a smile.

“no, i don’t like that question,” he shook his head.

“please, wonie, just answer the question,” you gave your best attempt at convincing him through probably what were some the worst puppy eyes you could ever make.

“that’s a dumb question.”

“it is not!” you exclaimed, playfully defensive. “now, would you still love me if i tur—“

but before you could finish the question you had made so many attempts in asking, you were cut off with your boyfriend’s lips on your own. you couldn’t help but close your eyes, melting into the kiss, and bringing your hands around his neck pulling him closer.

however, in no time, you were snapped back to reality before pulling away.

“hey!” you started. “that was a dirty move, yang jungwon—trying to shut me up by kissing me. rude!”

laughs only escaped his lips, but you tried your best to remain strong and serious, furrowing your brows at him, “it’s not funny.”

“sorry,” he started, “but it’s really funny.”

you pouted, looking at him as angrily as you could make out without bursting into a fit of uncontrollable laughter.

“aw,” jungwon began again, feigning sadness, “is my little wormie sad?”

“no, but imagine,” you started, suddenly back to as excited about the idea as when you first brought up the question, “what if we were both two little worms, right?”

he looked at you, very skeptical before he nodded slightly for you to continue.

“we’d be—love worms,” you finished, followed by a fit of giggles.

“y/n,” your boyfriend groaned. “seriously? that was so bad.”

you acted offended at his statement as your jaw dropped dramatically.

“fine,” you replied. “but—okay—if we were two little worms though, you know what i would call you?”

he gave you a displeased look before letting you continue, acting as if he wasn’t looking forward to the answer you had for him.

“jung-worm.”

there was a silence that somehow came out to ironically feel very loud before you let out a fit of giggles that you unsuccessfully contained.

“okay,” jungwon ‘fake laughed,’ “i think that’s enough bad jokes and dumb questions for the day.”

he began standing up, about to walk away.

“don’t pretend as if you don’t enjoy it,” you said playfully. “i know you love it.”

“no,” he said, stopping in his tracks, “no, they were quite terrible to say the least.”

he turned around and you waited for him as he continued after letting out a small chuckle, “but you know—even if it meant hearing all these worm jokes from you every day—i’d still choose you any day, in any form, because i guess i just love you that much.”

“thanks, wonie,“ you giggled “—i mean—wormie.”

he rolled his eyes jokingly before coming to you and placing a short kiss to your lips, pulling away with a smile, “shut up.”

a chorus of ouch and hey echoed through Hybe's silent hallways. Jay was practically dragging Sunghoon by the ear while the younger kept on whining about how he's going to rip his ear off, some staffs that they would bump into would just brush it off as one of their daily bickerings

soon enough once they reached the meeting room, Jay finally let go of Sunghoon's ear. he opened the door while his fellow 02z was busy complaining about how his ears were now red, to which Jay ignored.

with all eyes on them, Sunghoon silently followed Jay to sit beside him, still holding his ear with his fingers

"well, that's about everyone. i believe we can start the meeting now?" one of the managers asked and everyone nods in response

Sunghoon took a deep breath before speaking, not even waiting for the managers to open the presentation "first of all, i apologize for going live without telling the staffs. i know what idol life is like and apparently i've done and said things that could ruin, not only mine but also my junior's career. i also apologize to y/n y/l/n-ssi for revealing such information without your consent. i don't mean any harm and—" before Sunghoon could carry on with his long speech, Ethereal's manager cut him off with a chuckle

[ 12:42 AM] — it was official, you were done.

you sit in front of your laptop, hands on the keyboard as you softly tap your fingers against the keyboards. it was the only thing that could be heard. your eyes were on the side, thinking what else to do, but all in your mind was sleep.

thank god for lee heeseung.

he walks in, soft footsteps coming near and then it stops. you feel a soft peck on your head. you sigh, closing your eyes as you tilt your head upwards. and heeseung being the affectionate he is, presses kisses all over your face. with one final kiss on the bridge of your nose, he scoops you in his arms after closing your laptop. he brings you to the bathroom, sitting you on the counter as he puts some cleanser on his hand, rubbing his hands together as it lathers. heeseung then brings his hands to your cheeks, spreading it all over your face as he gently scrubs your face.

you don’t love to admit it, but sometimes, you just want to be pampered by your boyfriend. you were independent, heeseung knows that. but he also loves the times you would just give in to him. it’s not much, but he loves these moments.

he rinses your face, grabbing a towel to gently dry your face. you sigh, wrapping your arms around his shoulders as you press a kiss against his neck. he softly smiles, kissing your cheek as he wraps his arms around your waist, carrying to your bedroom. heeseung turns off the lights, closing the door as he lays on the bed with you on top of him.

it's already close to midnight when your husband of two years ask you all of a sudden. he's warm, and hazy with alcohol. you're absentmindedly treading your fingers through his soft hair, the floral scent from his shampoo is irresistible. you inhale slowly and plant a small kiss on his scalp.

"why do you love me?" his head buried on the slope between your neck and shoulder, breath a little warm that tingles your skin as he sigh through his nose. you feel his hold on your hip tighten, palm smoothing the crease on your shorts as he travels down to your thighs, giving it a loving squeeze.

you resist the urge to laugh in amusement. you hear your clock from the nightstand tick faintly, the low hum of the ac ebbing and flowing in the silence. you think about the myriad of ways you could respond, yet in all of them, no amount of words will ever reach its essence. no matter how you say it, it will never be enough.

instead, you ask him back, voice low as if you’re whispering, "what's not to love about you?"

he grumbles, and you can almost imagine the little pout surfacing his pretty lips, “do you want me to barf at your sappiness?”

“i’m serious.” you say as you fight a smile.

“prove it.”

“sorry?”

he finally looks at you, a long pause with slow blinking, his hand leaves your thigh, reaches up to brush his knuckles against your cheeks. the ring on his ring finger feels cold against your warm face, light catches gold—are you talking about the ring, or his eyes? maybe both?

you’re a little tipsy yourself. you might as well just kiss him right now because your mouth always fails you to shape your love in the form of words. you’re not eloquent enough to mold a perfect sculpture of sentences, you’re not capable of holding onto a voice but it’s ironic how you’re able to carry a weight of a ton of actions—and you think, maybe he doesn’t need you to be perfect with words.

maybe he just needs you to say it, you love him for all that he is.

you capture his hand, locking your fingers through the gaps and kissing it while holding your stare. such beautiful golden brown who only ever looks at you like this. you don’t want to look away, you want to keep him forever, like he’s a promise you love to keep.

you feign a scoff, “fine. if you want specifics. i love you because you give me challenges, the ones that pisses me off in a good way, the ones that make me a better person, the ones that make me think differently.”

“i love how you argue with me about the smallest things, like which way the toilet paper roll should go, just because you know it gets a rise out of me. i love the way you silently leave the last piece of your favorite snack for me, even though you act like you don’t care.”

“i love that you fold the laundry so badly on purpose just to get out of doing it, and how you mutter ‘you’re welcome’ when i fix it.” you see the slightest of twitch of his brows. guilty.

you rest both your intertwined hand on your chest, hoping he can feel your beating organ.

“i love how you complain about the dishes but still wash the ones i ‘accidentally’ leave in the sink. i love how you steal the blankets at night but always drape them back over me when you think i’m asleep. i love how you sigh every time i forget my keys but still wait by the door to hand them to me, no matter how late i’m running.”

“i love how you can be so stubborn and sharp with your words, but you never let the day end without sitting next to me, even if it’s in silence, just to make sure we’re okay. i love how, after a fight, you pretend to not-so-subtly leave fresh fruit cuts on the counter or let me pick the movie, even though you hate my choices.”

“you choose horror all the time.” he comments without thinking, and you chuckle.

“i love that you can’t handle it. because you can’t help but cling to me after.”

at this point, your voice wavers slightly, the memories tugging at your chest. “i love that, even when we hurt each other, you always find a way to show me you care. you never say it outright, but it’s in the way you stay. you always stay, kei.”

your voice soften as you look at him, his golden eyes searching yours with a quiet vulnerability. “is that good enough of a reason, kei?”

he was quiet for a moment, his expression unreadable, before scoffing softly. “you’re so dramatic.”

right as he bury himself in your scent, lips on your neck that inevitably makes you shiver, you can see his ears turn red—and you think it’s the alcohol, but maybe it’s also because of your sappy shitty monologue. maybe its both.

your head feels lighter, a pleasant buzz on your veins and a thudding heart that can’t quiet itself, maybe you want the world to know just how much you love this man— and to make it even more sappier, he’s your world. it should be obvious by now.

you are dramatic. “hehe, that’s why we’re here. that’s why you love me.”

ever since you became his highschool sweetheart, you didn’t change as much. at least, to his eyes, you remain the love he’s always wanted.

and the things you do to him, for him. leaves him drunk with want. your name on his lips sits like a prayer, a letter of promises forever to keep—committed to keep.

the ends of his lips curl into the faintest smirk, his blush deepening as he muttered, “maybe.”

after a few quiet shifts in position, you both comfortably settle in each other’s arms for the night. he closes his eyes and yet, he can still see you in perfect resolution, as if there’s a screen behind his eyelids. replaying the memories with your words ringing his ears.

he remembers his first kiss with you before he falls to sleep. saw your eyes glossy and glowing, he never told you this but, he wanted to marry you by then. wants you to give him that look everyday, wants your beginnings and your tomorrows.

and—oh, he already has it. huh. wow, he still can’t believe you love him after all these years.

“Come back to bed” a voice call out for you as you were watching the city that never sleeps through your hotel window. You turn to the source of the voice and smile at your newly wedded husband.

“Sunghoon, come on! We’re in New York!” You beam at him. You see him slipping out under the covers and walks to you sleepily. Arriving at you, sunghoon wraps his arm around your waist, head snuggling at the crook of your neck.

“Y/n, it’s literally 3 in the morning. We have a lot to do tomorrow too! I swear you gonna need your sleep” he mumbles through as he was snuggling by your neck. You slowly put your hands to cup his face and pull him to make him look at you. You stare in his sleepy eyes and smiles a bit. He looks so homey. You did a good job accepting his proposal. You kiss his lips and lead him back to bed. He lays on the bed while you put both of you under the covers. He pulled you closer and lay his head on your chest. You reply to his love but caressing his hand, lulling him to sleep.

As his breathing got slower, signalling he was asleep, you kept on thinking back all the memories you had with him. By any means, you will always choose him and him only.

2am, you quietly enter your home. it’s dark, it’s quiet, no sign of hyunjin.

the smell of freshly baked bread still lingers after hyunjin spent the evening trying to recreate his mother’s apple bread.

tiptoeing into the bedroom, you’re careful not to wake your sleeping boyfriend.

dropping your bags, you hear shuffling coming from the bed.

“baby?” hyunjin peeks from under the covers.

“oh- i’m sorry! did i wake you?” you worry.

“no, no, i’ve been up for a while. come to bed?” he ushers you.

“i will, need to shower first though.” you reassure your impatient lover.

he whines in protest as you bend to give him a quick kiss on the forehead before you maliciously abandon him yet again.

you hurriedly shower, eager to finally get some time with hyunjin after your long night.

finally climbing into your comfortable bed, hyunjin turns around to wrap his arms around you and hold you impossibly close, placing a few very soft kisses along your crown.

“how was it? did you have fun?” he asks, brushing your hair through his fingers.

“i guess it was fun, missed you though. it’s just hard to have fun being away from-”

her.

there’s that familiar sound again.

“i got it, you’re tired, go to sleep.” he spoke before kissing your forehead and unbinding you from each other.

rolling over and grabbing the baby monitor from his bedside, hyunjin mutes it before hopping out of bed.

he’s already heading out the door of your bedroom before you could say a word.

he told you to stay but you can’t help it. you follow behind him quickly, a man on a mission, his long legs carrying faster than yours ever could this late into the night.

nearly out of breath, placing your hands on his hips, you peek from behind hyunjin.

normally he would jump at the sudden touch from behind, but he was far too focused on the issue at hand.

“aigoo~ why is my baby crying?” he coos as he gently picks her up from her crib. he holds her gently in his arms and begins to ever-so-lightly rock her.

almost immediately she stops crying.

all you can do is sit back and watch in awe.

hyunjin has always been the favorite between the two of you, but you don’t really mind. she’s still your baby and of course she still loves you with all the emotion she can process at six months old.

she’s such a daddy’s girl and it absolutely melts your heart.

you sit on the chair in the corner of the room, overwhelmed with drowsiness. through tired eyes, you watch your boyfriend sing a makeshift song to try and get your daughter back to sleep.

“i think she’s hungry” he says as he turns to you sitting behind him.

except you’re sound asleep.

so once he’s finished feeding your daughter and putting her back to sleep, he gently scoops you from the chair, careful not to wake you— though not successful— and takes you back to bed.

you let out a whine in protest of him disturbing your sleep, but that doesn’t stop him from ensuring you’re comfortable. he tucks you in before then tucking himself in, settling into your previous position with your limbs intertwined, and placing kisses on your temple with some incoherent whispers in between.

forget his career, he’d rather spend his life taking care of the two of you if it meant moments like this.
