Sunny and Basil love each other deeply, and they are the center of each other's lives. They were best friends before the incident, and Basil often visited Sunny's house to support him and Mari and their music practice. Basil shared his books with Sunny to read and felt safe to vent to his best friend, and Sunny memorized all the things Basil would tell him about his gardening and what his favorite flowers meant

Sunny's escapist dreams were filled with Basil and everything he loves about Basil. He could've ignored his existence, but he instead put him safely with Mari on the picnic blanket. Basil gave his most important belonging to Sunny and stayed alive hoping that he'd make up with Sunny again, believing they both deserved to be forgiven and to make new memories together. Even when they had to hide a dark secret together, they missed each other and a red string of fate tied them together
