I’ve noticed that a good portion of my followers are passionate fanfic writers and I’m really happy to see that my Tumblr has become a source of inspiration for people. While I’m not very knowledgeable about the technical qualities of music, I do have a pretty broad range of music that I enjoy. I thought I’d share some music from the various cultures that inspired the ATLA-verse, connecting them to different characters/settings in Avatar.

Altargana is a classic Buryat (Mongolian) folk song that compares the growth of the altargana, an enduring and evergreen bush, with the love of parents for their child. It emphasizes the importance of parents to the growth of a person, just like roots to the Altargana plant. This songs reminds me of Iroh’s quote regarding the Water Tribe:

“The people of the Water Tribe are capable of adapting to many things. They have a deep sense of community and love that holds them together through anything.”

The above video is my favorite rendition of this song, but there’s many different covers of it on YouTube.

The general consensus that Katara acts like a booktok boyfriend.

Katara's pose is wrong perspective wise, but she came along so beautifully I didn't have the heart to change it. My job's to make the cow walk: whether it's on legs or nipples is none of my business.
