Gryffindor: I’m playing a drinking game. It’s called every time I feel depressed about something, I take a drink Hufflepuff: That’s already a game. It’s called alcoholism.
LOL someone is attacking me when I'm trying to tell them why Jackson is wrong but her biased ass kept @ me 🙄🙄🙄 can u tell me everything why it's wrong with deets cause I wanna send it to them to end it once and for all since I'm not good at words :(
Yes boo, I gotchu!!
Okay so, the first thing that Jackson did wrong was when he said “LOL…. that’s ridiculous”. Now I know there are so many reasons why he could’ve said this. He may have just been talking to the people that commented things like “you’re a racist” or “you’re anti-black,” but he never specified so of course that comment was bound to create some speculation. Many black and non-black Ahgases kept trying to educate him and get him to apologize, which was completely fine as I’ve said many times before, yes there were a lot of ACTUAL hateful and non educational comments… but we don’t claim those people because they’re down right disrespectful but anyway. After he deleted that comment, tons of us thought that he was going to apologize or something along those lines but nope
This is where Jackson messed up the second time Baby boy could’ve just apologized once he saw the backlash, but he just kept on pushing his luck. His next comment…
… shocked A LOT of people.. Like when I tell you that I was shooketh, I was fucking JUNGSHOOK okay. Like damn Jackson is that how you really feel? Like let’s just take this sentence by sentence, and I’ll walk you down the thought process that a lot of us felt while reading his comment, maybe then you’ll understand why Jackson isn’t completely off the hook :)
I don’t think I’m the only one doing this so if people are going to point singers at this, so be it … haters gon hate.
Oh no baby, what is you doing? Just because you aren’t the only one doing it, it still doesn’t make it right for you to do it… Many idols have done this and many idols have gotten backlash for it!!! “Haters gon hate” 👀 Oh you mean the dedicated Ahgases who were offended by this hair style and decided to educate you on why they were offended? Because a very high percentage of the “haters” commenting were Ahgase. Loving and dedicated Ahgase.
I have all my respect and love for all RACE. But if you think that this whole thing is disrespecting or mocking a race, I’m sorry but you’re on the wrong page.
Okay so the last sentence is bull I’m sorry Jackson, I love you I really do but baby you tried it on this one. Okay so me and many others took this as him thinking he did nothing wrong. Basically disregarding how many of us felt all because he didn’t think he was “disrespecting or mocking a race.” But in reality he and anyone not in the black community cannot, will not, and have never gotten to decide what offends the black community and what doesn’t 🤷🏽♀️
With all that being said, Jackson decided that whitesplaing himself didn’t work so he, decided to not make mistake #3.
I made this decision because I was too in love with the culture.
Okay there were two different roads on the train of thought that people took with this one. First, Jackson Baby, thank you for being in love with our culture but there’s just some things that you can’t do. Dreads on a black person=Dirty, ugly, and unkept. Dreads on any other race besides black=Fashionable, edgy, and trendy.
This mindset is why so many people were offended.
Secondly, Jackson you just admitted that YOU decided to do this. There’s no one else to blame but you baby, so why not own up and apologize.
No matter if it’s music wise, people, background, or anything, and I truly respect it with my heart. It’s a complete misunderstanding.
I’m not gonna lie, right here had me feeling just upset and sad rather than angry. But this was still not a sincere apology and that’s why many people are still upset/disappointed/sad/etc.
We all love Jackson, SO MUCH, and I just think that’s why we were so upset. We expected a lot more from him. And him being a good person doesn’t excuse his mistakes. He’s my heart, and I hate to see him hurt but he has to remember that he’s in a spotlight with hundreds of thousands of different people from different backgrounds supporting him. He needs to know that he can’t react so defensively because obviously it only made it worse :(
But like I said, we all love Jackson, some of us are just hurt by him rn
I hope this helped, my sweeet anon 💋💋💋

NAMJOON: He would get crazy worried and prob either have a panic attack with you or he’d get really really protective of you and bar anything/anyone from getting near you (no matter how weird he looked). He wouldn’t want to upset you more though, so he would hide his panic from you
YOONGI: This angel would know exactly what to do for you. He’d pull you off somewhere to the side, out of sight from anyone else, and sit down on the ground and hold you as long as you needed. Bless this boy
HOSEOK: He’d get really upset too. He’d drop whatever he was doing immediately and wrap you up in his arms and remove you from whatever situation was giving you anxiety, even sacrificing his whole day to comfort you if need be
SEOKJIN: I bet he’d be able to see your panic attack coming and take you away before it started. getting you some place private and safe and comforting would be his top priority
JIMIN: He wouldn’t know what to do at first, and might freeze up for a minute. See the evident distress on you face would snap him out of it though, and would try his best to calm you down and get you to tell him what was wrong, ignoring the curious stares of the strangers around you
TAEHYUNG: Your panic attack would affect him greatly. He’d basically say ‘fuck it’ to whatever he was doing or whoever he was speaking with and immediately rush to you, taking you someplace more private (or even just take you home). he wouldn’t exactly know what to do right away, but he would figure out how to comfort you fast
JUNGKOOK: Poor kook, he’d be the most confused and the most inept at handling situations like this. I think he’d know enough to take you away from the public place, but still wouldn’t be able to calm you down right away. He’d do the only thing he could think of and just hold you tight while softly singing to you

I’m not sure how to feel about Lin’s approach or his intentions about putting the founding fathers in a good light/essentially whitewashing history (because yes, Hamilton was an abolitionist, but he still owned slaves and Jefferson had “mistresses” but it would be more fitting to just call him a rapist). I understand that he demonstrates that they are human and complex; they’re layered and flawed; that they were racist, yet intelligent. I get that. But at the end of listening to Hamilton you’re still left with…appreciating them and kind of ignoring their faults (including myself). And their faults weren’t small…they’re major. They’re just as equal as their accomplishments because they were so horrendous that they are responsible for the exact systematic racism we see today. And Lin knows this. As a man of color and as someone who is bright and educated, he is aware of this.
So….that is where I’m lost. I have read an analysis that suggests that the history of Hamilton isn’t necessarily the driving point of the musical and what makes it ground breaking in nature- but rather it’s about its placing of people of color in the narrative. the way in how the nuances of our country suddenly become more interesting and relatable when we see ourselves reflected in the very thing white people oppressed us to not take part of (politics, human rights, overall founding of US), which is why King George is ALWAYS white. that, essentially, Hamilton is mainly about nonwhites taking back the narrative and not being the chapter 14 in the APUSH textbook that talks about culture and race, but being the entire story itself. and if that’s the case, it’s makes sense in the way how it was written, with a playful tone and appreciation for its characters. but if not…then I really question as to why Lin fails to legitimize the errors of the founding fathers more in his musical.
Regardless, I still love him of course. People will say he is “problematic” for this very reason but that’s entirely obnoxious and immature, as well as plain ignorant. Lin himself is multi-faceted and does a PLETHORA of things for civil and immigrant rights. He contributes and makes changes in the communities that he cares about, as well as be an activist for several organizations and a speaker for those who do not have the platform that he has. This is just one thing I’ve come to think about and question a bit, but that’s good. Art is powerful when it makes us question its motive for existence.
