He’d evolved complex coping strategies for being told he was rubbish- he’d had plenty of time to work on those- but nobody had ever told him what he was supposed to do if people suddenly turned round and started using words like amazing and astonishing at him. He was completely overwhelmed, and fairly terrified.
Still re-reading Blue Sky. One of my favorite scenes is in Ch 9 between Garret and Wheatley, and I felt it deserved this meme (never thought I would have to make a meme from scratch, but sometimes you gotta make the content you wanna see in the world, ha)
See the thing is that performing femininity DOES empower women. Most women are very aware that they are treated better when they wear makeup and dress femininely. But no man is afraid of eyeliner “sharp enough to kill a man”. No woman ever got a job over a man because she was wearing heels and he wasn’t. But women have lost opportunities and been treated like shit for not doing those things.
Female empowerment through performing femininity does not give women power over men. It gives women power over other women. That fucking sucks.
My friend recently told me in response to my art that Wheatley looks like Liam O'Dourke from The Sims 3. I looked at his page, and it turned out that their personality and interests are really similar in some ways, that is really funny...
His biography: Liam puts his mind to good use at the Center for Naturally Scientific Studies, but he secretly longs for something more. Will he be able to take his nose out of a book long enough to woo the lady of his choosing?
*dies*
i want to draw!!!!!! and then i don't.
Years passed and she never learned to draw Wheatley
Wheatley before and after taking over the facility and turning evil:
i hate mouthwashing (/pos) because the anya-curly-jimmy thing is about a MAN who doesn’t fucking understand(/believe?) how terrible other men can be until he experiences it himself, but by then it’s too late for him to do anything about it
Here's my contribution
