Some knowledge ✊🏾
It’s that time of year <3
you’re working in a field you genuinely enjoy. you have supportive, loving friends. you follow your passions, you’re fluent in your target languages. the 12 new books you ordered will arrive soon. your flat is cozy, decorated with plants and fairy lights. you’re happy. this might seem like some fantasty, but i know this will happen. i believe in you, and you should as well.

- people not realizing that you want to be alone, but don’t know how to say it in a nice way.
- always ending up in the middle of arguments because you see both sides, causing your friends to get angry at you for not choosing theirs.
- not being able to stick to one thing because you’ll forget about it later.
- feeling like a “therapist” to people because they always vent to you and ask for your advice.
- wanting to be a leader, but dealing with conflict with your friends stresses you out. So you can’t give constructive criticism.
- your energy comes from people, but too much will overwhelm you. Always being in a cycle of surrounding yourself to isolating yourself.
- wanting to help people, but not knowing how.
- worried that you’re being manipulative all the time.
- not being able to let people go, leading into destructive relationships because you think about how they used to be, and they can be like that again.
- when your social energy is at 0% and you need time alone but you can’t get it.
- when your social energy is recharged and you feel horrible for pushing your friends away.
- getting ideas all the time for random projects, but never going through with it. Leaving a ton of papers all over your desk that you don’t want to get rid of.
- worried you’re not yourself. That you’re just someone that changes around every personality to fit their aura.
(These are just some of my experiences)
I have this planner with these absolutely ridiculous pages with like “motivational” quotes on them that are just these bullshit things like “Let your heart sing” and “Always believe in your dreams”
and like that’s always struck me as such meaningless bullshit, I’ve always hated those. They’ve never had that element that truly motivates me.
Student: Can we write on both sides of this paper?
Professor: You are free write on all six sides.
For the record, every study method has the potential to be a poor study method. Remember to engage in the material before you and ask yourself if you really understand those notes you rewrote or those flashcards you made. If the answer is yes, then carry on. But, if the answer is no, you may want to reconsider how you revise…
Even in Death, Carl Sagan never ceases to inspire.
Carl Sagan on human exploration of space:
Human beings are a curious, inquisitive, exploratory species.
I think that has been the secret of our success as a species.
We now have reached a point in human history, when all the Earth is explored; there are no new places to explore on the Earth.
At just this moment, these spacecraft permit us, in a halting, tentative, preliminary way, to leave the Earth and examine our surroundings in space.
An enterprise which I believe is in the truest human tradition of exploration and discovery.
We are at an epochal moment. Our machines, and eventually ourselves, are going out into space. I believe that the history of our species will never again be the same.
We have committed ourselves to space, and I do not think we are about to turn back.
Artefacts from the Earth are spinning out into the cosmos. I believe the time will come when most human cultures will be engaged in an activity we might describe as a dandelion going to seed.
