and then metatextually, Hermie stuck around and stayed around for what was supposed to be pulling that long-con joke, but in the process he became a person. in a way, Will's dedication to Normal having a crush on Hermie is what kept him around, and Normal interacting with him that made Anthony flesh out the dialogue that turned Hermie from a goof to a character.
so then, textually, did Normal's care for Hermie actually turn him from a Goof into a Person? like, from a 2dimensional facsimile into someone with independent thoughts and internal logic?

Just thinking about how Frank’s watch that Grant got from Darryl has a little mark etched into its face of the when the dads were supposed to kill Grant and eat his skin 😀👍 Darryl scratched the time into the watch when they jumped off the bus in For Knights.
And now that time is forever on Grant’s wrist: a reminder of how he was supposed to die, how he cheated death, how he was forced to cheat death by killing something else. The watch has been broken for years. Its hands are frozen, and I wonder if that reminds him of Frank’s death or of his own… his childhood that died in that moment. He’s forever that scared little 12 year old blindly swinging an axe too big for his body and hoping to (praying not to) kill something.
This idea has been in my head for months! I don’t know if it’s actually that funny but I had to get it out of my system 😂

Got woken up at 6AM by a phone call from a friend stranded in Montana because of the heat wave and almost no cell service because of their crap provider.

But then it's 8AM and there are unscheduled live humans at the door and while EVERGENCY MODE is still on, I have already blown through a ton of spoons, and also probably shouldn't meet whoever it is wearing just a pair of bootyshorts that say "CRYPTID" in Gothic Font on my ass.
So I greet them in those shorts and a T-shirt that I manage to put on both inside out and backwards

he also has cat litter all over his face because while he was waiting for me he also learned how to open the baby gate to the cat's room and help himself to a cat shit breakfast.
He'll be fine
He's a cattle dog, they're legally required to have at least 1 really disgusting snack they love.
