This is the AU I’ve been waiting for!
If I weren’t so swamped at work I’d write a Grease AU...
50s geek and greaser
(just thought they would suit it)
Ugh, why is this stupid website so broken?! To whoever just had a post reported by my toddlers grabby hands, I am so sorry. I didn't even see who the post was from before he grabbed at the screen and a notification that the post had been reported popped up.
Vote.
No buts. No 'all evil candidates.' No excuses. No bullshit. You either give a shit about what's happening to you in the United States or you fucking don't. No pleasantries, no argument to hide behind, this is it. Been seeing a lot of Propaganda cropping up again in my feed and I am 10,000% not here for it. I have officially hit my absolute limit for complete and utter nonsense spouted by right-wing bots and plants as some psyop to get the chronically online to not vote.
Bite your lip. Hold your nose. Hell, complain the whole time if you want. But fucking vote. If you care, you fucking vote. That's it.
bc im an oldtimer and was just discussing jrock culture w/ @thicclizzyy
- jrock cons. all, what, two of them?
- Withering to Death was THE album.
- “don’t call kyo kawaii!!”
- lolita kisama, later rebranded as lokisa, selling super shitty overpriced “visual kei” clothing to white kids at cons
- reita’s noseband. just like, wear it everywhere. also, facemasks
- jrock mixtapes with kagura, miyavi, mucc, DEG, an cafe, and l’arc
- purple sky magazine was a thing
- “smile ichiban ii onna” was omggggg sooo kyoot
- everyone trying to emulate miyavi’s weird hyper persona
- camping out for DAYS in concert lines
- being part of a fandom meant livejournal blogging and having every prominent youtube video featuring the band memorized
- ball jointed dolls. EXPENSIVE ONES. double points if you customized them to look like a band member
- everyone wearing those sexpot revenge jackets with the fur hoods
- Dir en Grey not DIR EN GREY
- safety pins in all your clothes bc aesthetic
Hey Tumblr! It’s been a few years since I last did this but I’m back at it again. I like to think I’m the reason they’ve changed the system to get free books but either way nows your chance to help out. I know the power of the internet so just hear me out right quick as I ask for a simple favor. See those cereal boxes up there? If you buy any Kellogg’s product with that Free Book logo keep the receipt! They are doing it so that when you submit a picture of your receipt showing you purchased the product you can get a free book for yourself or have a book donated! It’s super easy to sign up on their site so if you feel like doing that please do! Or maybe you’re lazy and you don’t want to do that. I’m asking you to send me a picture of your receipt! I set up an email especially for this: tumblrbooks4students@gmail.com Now I’m sure you’re wondering why I’m bringing it up, so here goes.
I teach kindergarten at a school where the kids have little to nothing. Through generous donations (government, three square, various community partners, etc.) the kids get backpacks, clothes, shoes, free breakfast/lunch, and some school supplies. The school is not in the best part of town. I’ve had students who live with grandparents because their own parents are in jail, kids who have parents that don’t have custody over them for various reasons, and so on and so forth. Now I am trying to get my kids to read books, but they literally don’t have any books at home that they can use to practice their reading. With COVID going on it’s going to be hard to have students get their hands on books because sharing is going to be a no go.
Here’s where you come in. If you happen to buy one of these specially marked boxes and don’t plan on using the receipt please send me a picture of that receipt (tumblrbooks4students@gmail.com). If 20 people on here send me a code I’ll be able to get 20 books, which will easily allow me to get each of my students a brand new book of their own. I will gladly take a picture of a handwritten thank you note from my students to show you how excited they are to get a book. They’re five so expect something awesome.
Even if you have no receipt or don’t buy the product I’d appreciate the signal boost. Thanks in advance.
Honestly, hearing Steven tell Mark “You were just a child. It wasn’t your fault” probably made so many childhood abuse survivors feel validated.
My heart aches when I hear it. ‘Cause no one had told me that, and I never heard it till now. Even with how much time goes by, it always hurts when I’m reminded of what happened.
I firmly believe what ever you’re obsessed with at 11/12 years old becomes a core part of who you are, regardless if you lose interest in it or not. Maybe some of you were lucky and were obsessed with warrior cats or smth, and if you’re real unlucky it was probably twilight.
