i gotâand drewâmy first wof ocs back in 2022 (i never made any when i first read the books?) and they've been floating around my brain for those two years. anyway, i decided to redo those first drawings i'd done back then
these three were designed by spiderz on flightrising!
I thought I'd try sending a derg headshot request! Never done this before, and I really don't mind if you can't get to this one hehe :)
Here are a digital drawing and traditional drawings of my oc Crimson!
(Pardon my ramble. you can ignore this I just love her lore X3c )
She's an ancient dragon from before the tribes were formed, an ancestor to Skywings and Rainwings (Called Sunclaws). She also happens to be one of the first animus dragons AND is the first firescales ever! (It's a horribly traumatic background lmao. Her dad's a messed up animus guy who would never be the same after her mom died. LOTS of Queen Scarlet-esque terribleness going on here.)
She's finally escaped her father by basically ending herself and because of these shenanigans she has awoken revived in a modern day Mud/Nightwing's head. Free to live how she wants to, she's now got nothing but a dissociative mental illness, this kid's weird powers, and a dream! Lol
Crimson! also, passionate rambles about characters are great!
i had a bit of trouble replicating that firescales glow, but i hope what i went with to portray it looks alright.
sketchbook page and process vid under the cut (process vid may a bit jumpy and flashy)
Hello Chaossandwich! Can you please draw my sona? Here are some pictures/ references!
Earliest concept: early June
Another drawing from late June.
This one is from early august.
Information: Their name is Hornet. They are a Rain+ Hive hybrid. Their gender is nonbinary. Background: They were born into a noble status. However, their parents died when they were young. They studied in one of the top schools in Pantala and eventually became one of the best toxicologists in both Pyrrhia and Pantala. They assist in assasinations , most resulting in death of the victim.
Appearance: Large size. Legs are quite lengthy. Body covered with shiny metallic scales. Unlike Hivewings, Hornet has stripes not spots. Their spikes are long and sharp.
Abilities: Smooth armor is able to reflect or provide protection towards projectiles and knives etc, making Hornet quite durable. Their unusually large fangs located near the back of their mouth is the place where venom is injected, causing quite some damage to the target but it is still hard to get a good bite for the venom in the fangs to do its job. Hornet possesses ( wut are those called) those claw like spikes that can protrude through Hivewingâs wrists, which are fairly big and are curved. The venom that Hornet injects from their wrists thingy and fangs are a mixture of Hivewing and Rainwing venom. Venom properties: green in appearance. Can appear as green âsmokeâ as they can âleakâ from Hornets poison glands. Although venom is not really as deadly as rain wing venom, Hornetâs venom can apparently be released as high temperatures, thus burning the victimâs flesh and causing extensive damage. The venom also can cause quite a lot of pain. Hornet also has a tail stinger which injects the same venom( yaaayyyy this is getting repetitive)
Notes*: you may change some of their lore but not that much. You may simplify their designs a little or alot what ever you chose! If you donât want to draw my sona, itâs fine. Thank you!

wow, Hornet is pretty complex, but that was fun! have a lovely day!
under the cut is some more headshots for fun, the sketchbook pages for those, and a process vid (which can be a little jumpy and flashy)
oh, thank you!!
well, that's a little sad, and i'm a little nervous for the prospect of tiny little baby spiders, but she is really neat looking! and i'm glad she seems to be doing well where she's chosen to hang out!
hi! this spider has been chilling in our doorway for a few weeks now, could you tell me about her? we're in southwest bc, canada. hope you have a nice evening!
Hello! This thick woman is a cross orbweaver. This time of year she will likely lay an egg sac and then pass. Seems like she's lived her best spider life thus far though!
Ooookay. Sculpting is completely done. Please look at how fucking magnificent he is in case I fuck the whole thing up.
Now I'm going to do something that might end in disaster, because you should never, ever try to make a mold from something like this without planning to destroy the original. I am going to attempt to make a mold without even slightly fucking up the original. I have been assured by several very skilled sculptors that this is going to be a nearly impossible thing. Point in my favour, I am working with silicone instead of plaster. I'll be able to do a very thin layer that I can peel off, and if needed I can add another layer after the piece is fired and more sturdy, because silicone sticks to silicone. Cutting this off is going to be an adventure, though.
not sure i got it entirely right, and i had to quickly look up the author, but
here there be dragons by jane yolan
the map tells sailors where to sail
the decorations sun and whale
the warning spelled in letters pale
here there be dragons
the well known routes upon the map
should cause the sailors no mishap
but north-northwest there is a gap
and here there be dragons
the continents are not drawn true
the ocean waves outlined in blue
sea serpentine provides the clue
where there be dragons
yet year by year the ships have passed
cross oceans wide and oceans vast
and sailors stared atop the mast
for where there be dragons
but no jaws of blue or scales of green
are by these modern sailors seen
do you think that this might mean
here there be no more dragons?
i'd like to hope, i'd like the pray
the dragons have just gone... away
and will return some other day
then here there will be dragons, again
poll time. yes this is just a ploy to get people to recommend me poems
if yes, let me know which poems/recite some for me in the tags!
this looks so good!! and it matches Joy Ang's art so well!! oh my gosh
my main beast (obligatory -> not a base edit i drew this <-)
Imagine you wake up tomorrow and you realize you (and everyone else in the world) can turn into an animal (And back into a human) at will.
Please go to this link to see what animal it will be for you:
(this is random, and yes, you only get one, no redos)
With this in mind, please reply to the following questions as truthfully as possible based on your current situation. (Not an ideal fantasy one.)
alright.
so.
i'm going to take wof headshot requests, if anyone is interested? just send me an ask with your character's ref or description, and maybe a little blurb, if you'd like.
i'm gonna either play around digitally, or with colours on paper, so let me know if you'd prefer one or the other.
might try fullbodies later? i've still got to figure out what iâm doing there.
((hey opening these again))

does anyone wanna see my diagram about mudwing marriage culture
they're really neat, so thank you!!
i was going to tell a story about a neat encounter with a barred owl i had when i was young, but thinking about barred owls reminded me of spotted owls, which i will likely never see in the wild. so, may i ask for spotted owls?
Absolutely!!!
Spotted Owl (Strix occidentalis), family Strigidae, order Strigiformes, found in SW Canada and the NW United States

happy PRIDE iâm here iâm queer and i believe the land should be given back to the proper indigenous stewards.
This is probably the visual representation of
"I HAVE NO RESTRAINT". BRANCHES? YES! I can stop at any time. I think. Ok, maybe not, but it's not like I wanted to stop in the first place. <3
I painted the first version a while ago and never felt like it worked out. This weekend I picked it up again, and started to just paint branches into it. No idea where that came from, but I really think it works here. :D

For all of the northerners that stood up for Texas during our freeze and said, "Don't make fun of them, they've never dealt with this before. Their infrastructure isn't made for snow and freezing."
This one is for you.
Where I live 108°F with 80% humidity with no wind is normal.
Pacific North West is dealing historic best waves 35-40°C or 95-105°F.
First of all. Don't make fun of them for bitching about the heat. Just like Texas isn't built for a freeze and our pipes burst, Pacific North West isn't built for heat and a lot of their homes don't have AC.
If you live somewhere with a high humidity like 80+ HUMIDITY IS NOT YOUR FRIEND. The "humidity makes it feel cooler" is a lie once it gets beyond a point.
If you live somewhere with a lower humidity, misters are nice to cool off outside.
Once you get over 90°F (32°C) a fan will not help you. It's just pushing around hot air. (I mean if you can't afford a small AC unit because they're expensive as hell, by all means a fan is better than nothing).
If you have pets, those portable AC units aren't safe. If your pets destroy the outtake thing, it'll leak CO2. Window units are safer.
Window AC units will let mosquitoes or other small bugs in. Sucks, but that's life.
Now is not the time to me modest. If you have to cover for religious reasons, by all means. If you don't, I've seen people wear short shorts and a swim top. It's not trashy if it keeps you from getting heat stroke.
If you do have to cover up for religious reasons, look for elephant pants or something similar. They're made with a breathable material.
Shade is better than no shade, but that shit it just diet sun after some point. Don't think shade will save you from heat stroke.
I know the "drink your water" is a fun meme now, but if you're sweating excessively you need electrolytes. Drink Gatorade, Powerade, or Pedialite PLEASE. I don't care if you're fucking sitting in one spot all day. That shit WILL save you from heat stroke.
Most importantly. RESEARCH THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HEAT STROKE AND HEAT EXHAUSTION PLEASE!
If you're diabetic and can't drink Gatorade, mix water, fruit juice, and either lite salt or pink salt
If you can afford it, cover windows with thick curtains to insulate the house
If you have tile floors, lay on them with skin to tile contact. If you don't, laying your head on cool counters works too.
If the temperature where you're at is hotter than your body temperature, don't wear heat wicking clothing. Moisture wicking is safe though.
Check your medication labels. Many make you more susceptible to sun and heat
-Room temperature water will get into your body faster. This is something I learned doing marching band in high summer in Georgia, and it saved all of our asses. Sip it, don't gulp it, especially if you're getting into the red; same goes for whatever fluid you're drinking. And just in general drink during the day.
-If you are moving from an air conditioned space to an un-air conditioned space, if at all possible try to make the shift gradual. When my dad and I were working outside and in un-ac houses a few years ago, he'd turn the air down to low in the truck about ten-fifteen minutes before we got where we were going. This way your body doesn't go from low low temps to high temps. S'bad for you.
-If you can, keep your lights off during the day. Light bulbs may not generate a lot of heat, but the difference is noticeable when it gets hot enough. I literally only turn my bedroom light on in the evening when it gets too dark.
Don't be afraid to just like... pour water on yourself if you need to. The evaporation will cool you off.
Put your hand to the cement for 15 seconds. If you can't handle the heat, it'll burn your dog's paws. Don't let them walk on it.
Dogs with flat faces are more prone to heat stroke. Don't leave them out unsupervised.
Frozen fruit is delicious in water.
Wet/Cold hat/handkerchief on your head/neck will help you stay cool.
Pickle juice is great for electrolytes! You can even make pickle juice Popsicles!
Heat exhaustion is more, "drink water and get you cooled off." Heat stroke is more "Oh my god call 911."
Image Description provided by @loveize
[Image description: an infographic showing the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke. The graphic is labeled "Heat Dangers: First Warning." Signs of heat exhaustion: faint or dizzy, excessive sweating, cool, pale, clammy skin, rapid, weak pulse, muscle cramps. If you think you or someone else may be experiencing heat exhaustion, get to a cool, air-conditioned place, drink water if conscious, and take a cool shower or use cold compress. Signs of heat stroke: throbbing headache, no sweating, red, hot, dry skin, rapid, strong pulse, may lose consciousness. If you think you or someone else may be experiencing heat stroke, call 911. Be safe.

"There are many things my father does not know about Murmansk," Artemis said deliberately. "Chief among them that to save his life, I first had him shot." ~ Thrower of the Dart, by Vathara
Such a good fic!!! I cannot recommend more if you like either Artemis Fowl or the 2012 movie Avengers.
((else, Vathara had plenty of other good things to read))
(Pssst, hey- truth or dare)
