I don't know if someone’s mentioned this yet but has anyone compared how the hijab is treated in real life and how the Mandalorian’s armor is treated in Star Wars? From people trying to forcefully take it off to see what’s underneath, to people saying that they are being brainwashed for wanting to wear their collective head covering.
I don’t know, it just has some parallels that are interesting to think about.
Yoooo, I still can't believe that they technically made Sasuke and Naruto soul siblings or some shit just to get the shippers to back off, and then it didn't work.
1. Yawn with one eye open at least, you don't know when your sibling will get uppity and put their finger in your mouth like the utter heathen they are.
2. Walk with your ass covered. Vigilance is your friend and your sibling is your enemy. Your sibling will take every chance they have to kick you right between your ass cheeks.
3. Steal their charger. You could steal other things too but nothing causes as much outrage as stealing the continued lifeblood of their phone.
4. Accept the reality that your sibling’s friends are trash and will always be trash in your mind.
5. Fighting to first blood. Body slamming your sibling to the ground is something you learn to do early on.
-Warning!- mentions of rape
Anywho, so I know I’m far from the first person to think that Maleficent’s wings were probably an allegory for purity or whatever. But last night I was thinking, if we apply that lens to the entire movie, then it suddenly becomes a far less wholesome story, and not just because of the rape elements.
Because here’s the thing, Stefan drugs Maleficent and takes her wings while she’s sleeping (ie. raping her) and then she wakes up and finds out what happens when he’s already long gone.
If we continue then by that logic then Maleficent becomes the scorned woman, evil and mad. This paints a pretty awful image already of what they might have been trying to say. For example, Maleficent was good until she lost her virginity (aka her purity), then she became evil.
And if we continue further, it gets a lot worse. Because the only reason Maleficent becomes good again is due to her maternal feelings towards Aurora. And like, one of the only reasons that women aren't demonized for having sex (willing or otherwise) is when it’s done for the purpose of reproduction.
So technically, Maleficent only gains her wings back because she gains her purity the only way a woman who’s no longer a virgin can, by becoming a mother.
Note, I do not like the way the movie is read if we apply this lens at all.
I find it ironic that Jason calls Tim replacement when he’s the og replacement.
Have you noticed that the fan art for L Lawliet and Jeff the Killer looks startlingly similar at times? Because I have, and I have not known sleep for days.
I love Chinese bl novels because the main character will always be like, “I’m a straight male who has never had a single homosexual thought ever”
And then like not even five months later they’ll be giving out a blowjob “purely for science” like that’s a completely normal and heterosexual thing to do.
Like, I’m currently reading a transmigration novel where the mc is like, “I’m so straight,” but then his first solution to a problem that he’s having where someone is spying on him to ruin his reputation is to have a phone call in front on the spy about having an affair, go out and buy sexy lingerie, invite his “husband” to a night in a hotel, and then wait for the chaos.
My brother in Christ, what part of you felt like that was the heterosexual thing to do??
I think the coolest thing about Anakin’s and Obi-Wan’s relationship is they way it really gets the eldest sibling/younger sibling bond. For instance, I’m a younger sibling and I have frequently called my sister my third parent. I see her as a parent (though not a mother) and respect her more then I do anyone else. This doesn't mean I don't see her as a sister, it just means that I have two labels for her that have blended together to create a bigger, more confusing, super label.
My older sister however has never seen me as anything other then her younger sister. She claims me as her own and really does love me, but she doesn't see me as her daughter, the most she’ll go to is calling me her child but never anything more then that. You might think what’s the difference (which is valid) and the answer to that is labeling. By calling me her kid (however reluctantly) instead of her daughter she is still maintaining that she is not my parent. Teachers call their students their kids so why shouldn't a sibling be able to do the same? If she called me her child, or her daughter then she’d be putting up a direct claim.
Anakin clearly sees Obi-Wan as a parent/older sibling/friend, while Obi-Wan just sees Anakin as a brother/best friend. Obi-Wan is maintaining that he isn't Anakin’s father but rather his older brother and friend instead. And the best thing is that Anakin doesn't always see Obi-Wan as his parent! Sometimes he’ll see him just as a brother or friend.
This is also a point in their favor. Sometime’s I’ll just feel like my sister is more my sister then my parent and sometimes it’s the other way around. The labels are constantly changing and complicated and maybe I’m just looking way too deeply into their relationship but I find it gives me comfort.
I hope that if they end up recasting someone for season 3 they get an actress that’s buffer then gina carano if only so when Din and Cara meet up again he’ll just be like
“You seem a little buffer”
and that’s it, no other acknowledgement, just thinks her muscles are larger.
So I was rewatching Maid Same when I reached the beach episode and my hatred for Nagisa Tsuwamono has reawaken from it’s long slumber. Holy shit she’s such a bitch. The way she treats Aoi and her whole internal monologue just pisses me off. Like how she was like constantly ragging on Aoi to be more like a man and how she took away Aoi’s wig because she personally didn't approve. It just made me so angry. I had to restrain myself not to just throw my laptop to the floor in frustration.
Question, could Injustice Superman just be considered a shittier version of Light Yagami?
