Also a lot of people Talk about Cheated and Oppy, but to me It doesn't really seem like Cheated dislikes Oppy more than any of the voices do. In thorn he doesn't seem to despise Oppy any more than Hero and when anyone talks about him they say he's annoying at best. Like no one can even be genuinely angry at him because he so obviously bad at what he does that he isn't even a threat.
we don't talk enough about our voices beef headcanons. c'mon, no way these guys always get along, have you seen their interactions?
Cheated and Oppy absolutely despise each other. Cheated is too much of a righteous little prick, and worries a lot about fairness for someone who is willing to stab others in the back if she suspects any foul play, and Opportunist is Opportunist.
Contra is sure most of the other hates them, and makes no effort in really changing that or even giving others much grace when they're the ones who start annoying him.
Stubborn cannot fucking stand Skeptic. he's all just yap yap yap, and no action! Why do others listen to him and not Opportunist, if they all love a big talk so much?

I think what I’m seeing with the Slay The Princess fan base is that not enough people recognize that ALL the voices are a neutral force. Both positive and negative in their own ways.
I’ve seen people talk about Smitten showing love just as a thing, and I just saw a post talking about Paranoid needing to be written in fan content with his more negative side as well as his capabilities, but it’s actually like that for all of them! The voices are, quite literally, reflections of The Long Quiet— and they are their definition in every way it can be.
Smitten loves, and sometimes that love happens to hurt because he just wants what’s best for the Princess but she wants the same for tlq so it spirals and no one is happy.
I was thinking about Hunted, especially in the Den, where he is instinct and that instinct is to survive, but when he sees someone else also fighting to survive, he looks out for them and works as a team.
Cold is notorious for brushing off any emotions and with the mirror he will tell the decider that you don’t need to comfort the other voices. But he’s pushing for numbness so that it hurts less, so that you can handle it easier, so you aren’t paralyzed by guilt or by the decisions you have to make.
Opportunist is constantly changing his mind, trying to be on the “winning” side, and this causes him to be a jerk, pull the knife on the princess when it suits him and if you don’t want to hurt the princess he’ll then try to play it off. But he’s also got ways to keep you safe, know when something will turn on you because that’s what he would do, and he just wants the safety and security.
I could write them all out to be honest, but it’s about just taking their names at face value because that is literally what they are, and Slay the Princess does a really damn good job at portraying these traits as completely neutral. And it’s a game about perception, so depending on what choices you make, these neutral traits will seem more positive or negative, and I really think that’s a great message that can be done so so well and I honestly love it.
Who would you say is the most baby-like of the princesses (I need this for little "project" i'm doing)
Skeptic lovers rise uppppp ughhh
Please reblog to make sure everyone is equipped!
I also don't understand what the f*ck he means by "They always do in the end"
Hiiii these Tower/Cold parallels haunt me!!
You can tell Tower she's meant to destroy the world, and she's like, "Yeah, absolutely, you're so right." And in Tower Fury, the Princess calls you nothing, and Cold is like "no, wait, that's true." It's just so !!!!!
Cold and Tower are not allowed to meet. Otherwise, they'd immediately figure out their exact divine natures XD
I'm also thinking about Cold's "Boohoo, it's just a body." And Apotheosis going."Your victory remains in the physical world while I am beyond." (Not direct qoutes)
My first thought was that Cold is like TLQ version of Wild, bc she's the most Shifty-y and he's the most LQ-y but he's also very Tower/Apotheosis adjacent; and while this may not be the version of Fury he felt something with, shes still Fury, and he said Fury was like him and felt something when we stabbed her.
I love how every character is a foil and mirror of at least 3 different characters. It makes analyzing them so much fun
I think they're silly. I'm rotating them in my brain together
Bonus points:
Princess gets stabbed by nothing after being forcefully removed from godhood. I wounder what exactly she understood. I think she realized that you're equal and opposite here (or in short, you're her partner god), but that's just me. The "But... I'm going to be okay, right?" I think it might bc she knows this isn't actually over, that she's not over, and maybe bc she recognizes the nothing around her as you
Also, "They always do in the end." The FUCK do you mean by that Cold????
This is a dangerous train of thought to me mainly because of Two reasons:
1. "canon is only a suggestion" I get what he's trying to say here but if you are writing a character with an already established personality OF COURSE IT MAKES SENSE TO EXPECT THEM TO BEHAVE LIKE IN CANNON.
Obviously there is room for interpretation but there's a difference between interpretation and writing an entirely new character and claiming they are one from canon (for example imagine I make a stp fic where contra is super serious and follows every order he's given and thinks he's the best of the voices)
2. "You don’t get to stick your nose in their world and tell them “hey this is not to my liking therefore I think you’re doing it wrong” when you can simply leave quietly and move on to something else you may enjoy"
This is making some rather dangerous claims like saying that commenting on a piece of art that someone posted PUBLICALLY is "sticking your nose into their world".
That every disagreement or critique made towards a work of art is meant to be an attack to the objective value of the whole thing (assuming there's something such as "objectively good or bad things")
And that just because you can decide not to consume something you have no right to express any kind of criticsm towards it.
To me this whole post just reads as overly defensive and feeling like "overly attatched" to something you made to the point where every kind of criticsm towards it feels like a personal attack to you.
unless they specifically asked, you don’t get to tell a fanfic writer you think they mischaracterized the character by the way. because the second someone writes a fanfic about a character, that character becomes the writer’s own version of the character. canon is only a suggestion, but whether or not an author will follow it / how much of canon an author will take is entirely up to them. you don’t get to stick your nose in their world and tell them “hey this is not to my liking therefore I think you’re doing it wrong” when you can simply leave quietly and move on to something else you may enjoy
Another thing that should happen but does not happen regarding the skeptic is getting to the cage after trapping yourself with the prisoner. Like, I can't be the only one who thinks that the action that gives you the achievment "THE PRISION OF THE MIND become your own jailer" should lead to THE CAGE right?
maybe if you want to keep the possibility of getting the old ending you can either keep hope that something will happen (old ending) think that there must be some sort of pattern or trick that you aren't seeing (cage paranoid) or maybe get all depressed (cage broken).
MORE SKEPTICK CONTENT BABYYYY!!!
(for those Who don:t know the game got an update and now skeptick is with you in HEA instead of paranoid, wich makes sense considering the whole "love melted into skepticism" thing )
