Felt like making a celebratory MCR piece, which turned into making a poster to hang up so I can wake up every morning with a reminder there’s something to look forward to in 2020.

T H I S

i’ve seen a few people say that mcr are just getting back together for money and … do you really have that little faith in the boys???? first of all, i highly doubt any of them are in dire need of money right now. even if they didn’t have their own projects going on, they were in a massively successful band for 12 years and they still make money off of royalties. second of all, i truly believe that there is a far less shallow reason to reunite, and here’s why:

my chemical romance formed after 9/11, when the spirit of the country and the world was dim and in need of hope. now, in 2019, the world faces so much fear and tragedy every single day. trump’s presidency, citizens of several countries around the world are being oppressed by their governments, literal concentration camps in america, genocide, and the planet dying are only some of the examples. danger days was set in 2019, and the whole story of it is about rising up against an oppressive authoritarian government. i think they may see it as fate that they set danger days in 2019, that it was some sort of calling for their future selves to return and give the world hope again. i have a strong feeling that if the world was not in the state it is currently in, they would not have reunited. but they saw the impact their music had, how it empowered millions of people across the globe to resist the grim realities they face and rise up in unity. and they see how badly the world needs it now. besides, we know that this band has always been nothing if not authentic, so why would that suddenly change now? they know how much the world needs them, they know how desperately the world needs a goddamn savior of the broken, the beaten, and the damned. they know they can be the voice to lead us.

they would not get back together if this was not something they wanted and felt was right, and i believe that with more faith than i have ever had in anything. please, believe in the boys. they know what they are doing.

What’s happening to autistic people right now?

(Trigger warning for abuse, electroshock therapy, torture, and ableism.)

The US court has overturned the ban on shock devices being used against disabled students, predominantly autistic students in the US.

The shock device being legalized is called the graduated electronic decelerator (or GED). This is a torture device that is used to ‘correct’ autistic behaviors / symptoms. Autistic people are shocked for stimming, and for having meltdowns, ect. This device was made popular by a behavioral center (the Judge Rosenberg Center, specifically) that is infamous for its abuse and torture of autistic / disabled patients.

This is what the device looks like. It sends electric shocks into the victim’s skin; the victim often being restrained and held against their will. This is torture. GEDs have been reported to cause intense psychological trauma, PTSD, and physical injuries.

In March of 2020, the FDA ruled for GEDs to be banned. (Although, of course, they were still illegally used at a number of places.) This ruling has recently been appealed, and today, the US court of appeals has re-regulated the law to stop the use of GED. Sounds great, right? It would be!

... If not for a huge loophole in the wording, which basically allows this torture to continue. This device is going to have continued use on autistic students in order to “correct their behavior.”
